Hey Queen Gemma, I am so happy to meet you. I'm a new subscriber from Broken Farmer. Aka Uncle broke. I love the positive energy 😊 hello neighbors. I love the gardening community
😂😂 is that the queenly “we” need to fix this cage. Let’s hope the storms have stopped for now so you can get on with the fun stuff. Have a super week I hope your feeling better, Ali ☔️☔️☔️☔️🇨🇦
It's so nice to get these little jobs done, and it's great to see you had no bed storm damage 😊 Plenty of funky parsnips to eat 😂, have to look out for the parsnip tape you mentioned 😀 👌 Have a great week and best wishes, Maiju 💚🌿
Great seeing what you can do with just a small amount of time. Sometimes it seems daunting but like you’ve done there just pick one area and get started. Love the fake spider 🕷️ 😅
So glad that fruitcage survived gem! Loving the feel of this video! Great parsnip harvest.. erm some are a little dodgy haha! But we eat it all the same. Great video. Danny x
Hi Gemma, as you say, those parsnips are perfectly edible and have some good size to them. What you might want to consider this year is to put plenty of spent compost onto that bed before sowing, as parsnips can have a tendency to fork when the soil is very fertile. What you want them to do is send the tap root down in search of the nutrients, which helps to keep them straighter 👍
The fruit cage is just feeling quirky and jaunty. Glad it survived though. Those parsnips are huge! They’re certainly a workout to dig out of the ground. Plot is looking lovely and everything is growing in the tunnel. ❤️
How lovely! I have a gooseberry, a redcurrant, 2 blueberries and 2 rasberrys I have room for 2 more I think but not sure what to choose! Whitecurrant may be a good choice?!
@@GemInTheGarden lovely!! Have you got normal blueberries or the pink lemonade one? I have two of those and a normal blueberry. I’ve also got two dessert red gooseberries, blackcurrant and a patio stella cherry tree. I love cherries.. maybe one of those?
Hi Beverley 👋 hee hee you will never guess but I found 2 pigs in one of kitchen cupboards today 🐖 I will be taking them to the plot to live with all the other pigs hee hee Have a great weekend 🥰
I do enjoy growing root crops like parsnips. In the US it seems to me that parsnips are vastly underrated. Here in Michigan, I found out the hard way that it makes much more sense to grow parsnips than sweet potatoes. I started growing parsnips in 2022 & managed to overwinter a few to save seeds in 2023. I've seen youtubers give tips on harvesting them since they can be so hard to uproot. Some suggest firmly pushing the root down into the soil before attempting to pull it out.
I have heard that before that parsnips aren't that big in the US, we love them in the UK 😀 Thank You for the tip on pushing them down, I will try that on the other bed of parsnips when I harvest them in the next few weeks 👍 have a fabulous weekend ☺️
3:40 that's fab those heads popping through! Glad nothing was badly damaged in those storms. Haha that parsnip! 😂 they all look lush 9:49 I nearly throw my phone 🫣 spiders urgh 😂 Will look lovely come April! 🌱🌱
