I was already a huge Joji fan, but seeing him perform live at Coachella this past weekend was fucking surreal. Probably my favorite performance of the entire weekend. He had some health issues mid-set and had to take a short break, but he still came back out and absolutely killed it. Joji is just on another level of artistry entirely. NECTAR is one of my favorite albums in years. I hope Joji continues making music for years to come, because the world is incredibly lucky to have been blessed with his talent.
I was there as well and I agree it was surreal. I wish he knew how much his music means to me and how emotional it makes me!
I heard about that. My girlfriend stayed up all night to watch it live and told me about him being sick. Glad he was OK and felt good enough to perform. Was worried about him tbh his music is amazing 👏

in vietnamese, yêu (love) sounds a lot like “Ew”, considering that this is a love song speaking about how bleak the world is compared to his lover (a ‘Ew’ inducing thought), he’s scared that the end of the relationship may be coming sooner than he could believe (another ‘Ew’ thought) and how his love for this person really affects him.
also notice how this is the first opening track to nectar, his second album? he wants to trick his listeners into thinking this album isn’t shit considering the traction of his last one (notice how yêu sounds like ‘ew’ but looks somewhat similar to ‘you’). he wants you think think that nectar is ‘ew’ but you end up in yêu with it.
i could be over spectulating this, but this is just my theory. he’s a lyrical genius, you know.

I've been following george for almost 10 years by this point and I think he is the most interesting youtuber turned musician to ever grace the platform.
his videos as frank/pink guy and his collabs with max/ian/etc really informed my sense of humor in my early twenties, but I absolutely love the way he matured.
I got to see him live last year in london and it was a blast, especially his mid-concert shenanigans and we even went to the aftershow party at a roller-rink which was an experience for sure.
