The MPP props on a Mavic Pro don't offer the same benefits as the MPP props on a MPP due to the improved ESCs on the MPP. Quite a few people mistakenly thought just putting the MPPs on a MP would give the same result.
You got the lower pitch even without the ESC change, but I think they overplayed the lower noise benefits.... Slightly lower pitch and that was about it ... 👍🏻

Ian I am finding your videos so straightforward and easy to follow so many thanks. I have fitted MA props to Mavic Air and adjusted Pitch, Roll, Yaw and Vertical values following an info card that came in the box. What happens if I damage MA props and have to go back temporarily to original DJI props? Change settings again? Are they really important? Fitted MA props to Spark and no new values as above mentioned. All getting a bit too technical...
I wouldn't worry about changing the settings. I never changed mine in the first place. It's a minor thing that prevents an error message in Sport's Mode. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Ian great review totally agree with you. I’ve been using these props since they first came out and love them just having that lower pitch is enough for me now I did encounter problems at the beginning with motor error but Master Screws sent instructions how to fix it and have not had any more issues. They just contacted me that they came out with another set or what they call it Second Generation of the same props which they sent me about a week ago. Going to test them out and see how they do. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for that! Yes, I learned about the new second generation props today just as I uploaded the video. They claim 14% longer flight time over the 12% the first generation claimed. Given that they did definitely increase the flight time, I'm guessing the V2 version will be slightly better..... Ian
Got the V2 props based on your video recommendation. Big difference in pitch, enough not to be annoying. One question though: Would you recommend taking these off when putting the Air in a hard case? The pitch of the props seems to catch the air when folding the arms in.
I have left these props on since making this video, well over 6 months ago. I don't see an issue of them slightly rubbing when folding the arms. Removing and replacing is more likely to cause wear and tear 👍🏻
Hi Ian. I am very new to drones. And have just ordered my first drone. A mavic air. I have watched all of your reviews and they are so informative so thankyou! Do you recommend these props? I'm wary about a few reviews online where they say they get motor overload warnings due to firmware upgrades.
Guessing you've seen my long 'Mavic Air - All you need to know" full tutorial? That should help too. I still have these props on my Air from when I filmed this video; it's very rare to get that error and not an issue. They are quieter and you do get an extra minute or so. What woudl be way more useful tho is an extra battery. If you didn't get the combo, I'd put your money on a second battery.... Ian
@@IaninLondon yes I purchased the fly more combo so will have 3 batteries. I have indeed watched all your videos and they are all very informative. I will test it first then make a judgement wether to buy these props or not. I still see so many different examples of range across many videos. Different people stating 2.4 is better than 5.8 and vise versa, ce or fcc, so many things seem to work for different people.
@@northwestdrones I wouldn't get too hung up on the various reviews; if you're not in the USA then you'll be automatically in CE mode like me, and that's still plenty far enough. If you're flying in a town and getting interference, you could try manually choosing a 5.8 channel but TBH you're better off flying in rural locations and you won't get much interference there. I would stick to the DJI props and just get to know your new kit. You get spare props with the combo so if you clip a twig and damage a prop you'll be able to replace it easily.
Hi Ian! Interesting review. However, a different prop profile means different prop performance, this means the drone might actually get a lower top speed or just be less responsive during normal flight. To be fair with DJI props, performing just a hovering test is not enough to take the conclusion that they offer longer flight time, implying they are better. Will they also offer that in a long flight, when motors will have to spin faster to reach the same performance? And even in the case that this were true, how is overall performance affected?
Valid points; maybe I should have done a Waypoints mission to get two identical flights for comparison; may well do that for the Mavic 2 video I'm doing on these props. But, I've actually left these props on since making this video last year; had no issues whatsoever.... Cheers, Ian
I bought a set from the USA with import duty cost over £40. Changed all the settings as recommended by MAS but still getting lots of motor error warnings. My advice is don't buy them not fit for purpose wait for mark 2.
Ok terry. Interesting to hear that. Import duty really sucks, especially as these are only $20, so I think you got stung by the carrier's internal fees too there which is a shame. As for the warnings, I didn't get any during the tests but now I'm keeping these on, I'll be amending the settings as they suggest and seeing what happens. V2 got released yesterday. I'll pick some up over there in the next few weeks when I'm in the US. Ian
Did I see a recommendation from master screw that the motors should be reduced to 80% to facilitate a smoother flight (to prevent a fault message appearing when in Sport mode) and presumably thereby increase the actual flight time further?

If your're gonna max it out that may be the difference between landing at least close to the pad or find my drone... Good video bro I fly the Mavic Air...
8% is better than discussing about nothing. 8% more by a bigger battery would cause costs 8% of 75€ at least 10€ cause the higher weight needs to be compensated. And the mas prop price is not 10€ than the dji ones I'm happy with 75 - 100 seconds more flight time, more time means more range.
What would happen if you only change two props? .... keep two corners original and change the other two corners. I guess it would remain balanced. Could you try this? ...for science! 😉
Lol... No! I value my Air too much. Remember the opposite props spin the same way and adjacent props go in opposite direction. So I'd end up with things going wrong fast I reckon 😃😃
Hovering does consume more power but the specs offer a hovering flight time too. I thought about a genuine flight but then would have been exposed to different winds and different acceleration etc. Hard to get a genuine comparable flight.... Ian.
@@eaglevmp4019 I adjusted to reflect the overall flight time of the entire battery, not just the actual flight time as that ended on 10% battery. Either way it shows an increase.....👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Did you do the test with the same battery? Ah, you talked about it later back at home. Didn't you have a Mavic Pro or Mavic 2? Are the results of Mavic Air transferable to Mavic Pro 2 ? Great results considering if every important piece could add 8% flight time by replacing. Checked their website, where they have hundreds of reviews: 14% for Mavic Air with their V2 is right Unfortunatelly their design for Mavic Pro offers just 2% compared with Platinum and 4% with the older Pro No particular Mavic 2 Pro offer and the biggest bummer 15$ shipping flat rate. It's just a better envelope and I even won't try it cause with these nice shipping costs I'll have to pay customs + taxes ... 36$ + 19% = 43$ Not even worth a trial. They need a european fullfillment center for sure which even more and more chinese seller do have or at least a european sales partner like that polish company selling their dji range extender www.4hawks.com more range + flight time would fit perfectly together, same target customers.

Ok, that really sucks. I'm going to message them and see if they have a European distribution as £40 for a set of props is not good....

If your're gonna max it out that may be the difference between landing at least close to the pad or find my drone... Good video bro I fly the Mavic Air...
Quieter? 😜 Considering the ideal wind free conditions the flight time is shorter than advertised for both props.
The specs knock a minute off flight times for hovering.... And yes, my use of the word quieter is open for interpretation 😃
8% is better than discussing about nothing.
8% more by a bigger battery would cause costs 8% of 75€ at least 10€ cause the higher weight needs to be compensated. And the mas prop price is not 10€ than the dji ones
I'm happy with 75 - 100 seconds more flight time, more time means more range.
Ian in London I thought corner props are the same so it shouldn’t make a difference.
Do you try your test with flight vs hovering, maybe you will get the 12%. We all know that hovering drain more power.
Hovering does consume more power but the specs offer a hovering flight time too. I thought about a genuine flight but then would have been exposed to different winds and different acceleration etc. Hard to get a genuine comparable flight.... Ian.
@@IaninLondon I just calculate your 1.18m difference and it is 10% not 8%, maybe I am wrong!
Checked their website, where they have hundreds of reviews: 14% for Mavic Air with their V2 is right
Unfortunatelly their design for Mavic Pro offers just 2% compared with Platinum and 4% with the older Pro
No particular Mavic 2 Pro offer and the biggest bummer 15$ shipping flat rate.
It's just a better envelope and I even won't try it cause with these nice shipping costs I'll have to pay customs + taxes ... 36$ + 19% = 43$
Not even worth a trial. They need a european fullfillment center for sure which even more and more chinese seller do have or at least a european sales partner like that polish company selling their dji range extender www.4hawks.com
more range + flight time would fit perfectly together, same target customers.
hi there, yes, I did this with the Mavic Air. I do have a Mavic 2 Pro as well. Not sure if they do props for the 2 Pro / zoom yet. But yes, the improvements for the original Pro isn't that great....
@@IaninLondon Thanks ... and good news:
Mavic Pro & Platinum ones are available at a fair price in europe / germany at 25€ if you get over 29€ for an amazon order
That's worth a trial - thanks for this video + lightning fast response

Firstly stunning pics of Wales Ian, been waiting for this one mate as I do think standard props on the air can be irritating at times, did you have any motor issues come up on the app as I've seen off another channel ? Thanks for this mate sound information as always. 😁
Ps, what is the quietest drone you have Ian?
Once again a very useful video Ian. Thank you. I would also like to know what is, in your opinion, the quietest drone.
Thanks Alwyn. Even with these stealth props on the Air, I think Mavic 2 Prop is quieter without a doubt. It's a far deeper noise but much easier on the ears and you perceive it to be much quieter. You can compare the noise on the Air, Pro and 2 Pro on this hand-catch video I made. ruclips.net/video/SspJVHTcWoM/видео.html Cheers, Ian
@@scooby7346 Thanks Scooby. Answered below. 2 Pro. :)
Thanks Ian
Not sure if you watch any of Bruce Simpsons in NZ videos but his latest article might be of interest if you haven't heard about it already! Cheers Andy

I have watched a few... This idea from Extinction rebellion isn't too great for drones' reputations...
One minute isn't very impressive.
True. 5 would have been good....!
Rubbish don't buy it
