I remember the first test being very much an "England A" side as meny of their first-pick players were back in England playing in the Prem final. They actully did pretty well despite losing. Next week with the first stringers back on board straight off the plain after the prem, they got close, but the last week they got pumped and looked tired.
I attended the Eden Park match and what the highlights fail to convey is just how much time wasting happened at every set piece. So pleased there are now "shot clocks" on scrums and lineouts.
I remember being in a McDonalds in Rotorua way back when I was still just a boy. There was this massive Islander guy in there just chillin on his own and eating his breakfast meal. I'd never seen a man THAT big before, he was even bigger than my 6ft 105kg dad (my dad was a gym guy) Thinking back now I'm 90% sure it was Sione Lauaki given his physical characteristics, the location of that McDonalds and time-frame. I hope it was Sione, if it was that is the first professional rugby player I ever saw. RIP mate 🙁
