Amazing to watch this video. Very straight to the point and exciting at the same time! I am Excited to get mine (and will definitely do a video about it).
Can’t wait to try out this Griteration of the tube screamer circuit. I’ve had trouble getting along with tube screamers-I tend toward the blues breaker style overdrives-but everything you guys have made has worked for me, so I ordered one immediately.
Aftee searching for sonething epic to pair with my Badger 30, I Have been saving for a Protein for about a year now, one of these days Ill pick one up! Always fought with TS style pedals but this thing sounds ridiculous 👌 Almost certainly going to be the one I chase next, Stirling job folkes!
Just picked up a Carbon and I just love it. It's the perfect always on tone for me, I've tried a ton of BB style pedals. I was just thinking how I would have loved if the Protein was a Carbon and a Gritador, funny how that was the original plan. Great edge of breakup/rhythm tone with a great lead sound. Any chance making one of those is still in the cards at some point?
Kind of, but not really. It’s about the way the mid frequency comes through, the way the compression plays a part, the adjustments to the clipping - nothing quite as simple as moving the mid freq hump
@@BrowneAmplification Clipping is either 0.7vdc or 1.4vdc which is going to chop off the positive cycle and negative cycle after the clean signal reaches the clipping threshold. I'm not sure if this is what you mean by compression? I'm confused how clipping can filter or roll off the mid frequencies or pass the mid frequencies because it seems that is what you're saying that you modified the soft clipping to pass the mid frequencies better.
@@waynegram8907 no, the clipping is just part of what we adjusted overall - we did move the midrange bump, but thats not all we did - it wouldn't be worth releasing a new pedal based on just a change in the midrange hump.
@@BrowneAmplification It would be nice if you added a Compression control to this Tube screamer circuit to adjust the amount of compression and compression threshold point of the overdrive. Try to add these controls in the 2.0 version
Dude, I'm buying this pedal as soon as I sell the pedal I bought last week with the money from the pedal I sold the week before. Just hope I can sell this pedal to buy the one that comes out next week. Just sayin
@@Unusednickname_1970 We knew we were wading into a deep pool of already great TS circuits - this just happened to be Dave's version and he wanted to release it. It's always a challenge when you are up against such great other options!
It’s so nice to hear praise for TS’s. I love them.

You and Dave apparently, this is the last iteration in a long line of iterations for him!
Love it. And in a totally unexpected twist-somehow this thing allows me to enjoy my bridge pickup! Crazy.
True on the AC30 biasing thing - I had mine tuned down to 28w and it's a whole different amp. It sings!
This looks and sounds amazing! Excited to try one!
Cheers from Brasil!!! It made my top list... for the name in Portuguese and for the sound samples!!
thank you!!
Obrigado por batizar este pedal em Português :)
Sounds great, great work, cool name!
In Spanish also !!
it's amazing! I no longer need to save for a Vemuram TubeScreamer!
If they did do a new version of the protein with this on the green side, they'd probably take a lot of sales away from the jhs double barrel.
Josh would def lose at least 3 sales haha.
Sounds very nice! Gonna try this one.

Video editor forgot to put the colour in the edit 🤷
Yes… he did.
Great work, love the vid... Love the pedal.
Bought my first Tube screamer in 1982. Wish I had kept it. Regardless I look forward to receiving the pedal Wednesday.

good chance at some point...
I assume this would work great with a Fender 64 Deluxe Reverb handwired amp?
you bet!
Love hearing about it from the mad scientist himself.
What would work better for a 68 Custom Fender Vibrochamp reissue, the Gritador or the Protein?
A Protein
Sounds great!
Thanks Zach!
@@BrowneAmplification yes sounds just like the Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive Pedal
What’s it like into the protein?
Wonderul
I’m sure it’s awesome, but there’s no way it can be better than the Protein :)
NO WAY at all. Maybe if you prefer a TS to the ODR side...
It's not the greenside of the protein , that's the Atom , this will stack with the Carbon
Forgot colorgrading? 🎉
Yes… and then it was too late… that’s what happens when you scramble and upload the wrong file and then don’t double check.
@@BrowneAmplification Great pedal anyway!
Someone forgot to grade the interview footage lol
I blame the guy who graded it.
@@BrowneAmplification It looks like it's the raw log footage... unless your editor was going for a 'look'.
The pedal sounds great anyway :)
@@tollan23 you know, if the look was "we gotta get this done by next week" then yes... haha.
@@BrowneAmplification I get that haha!!
Esperando el "Cara de Peluza", como su versión de Fuzz Face jaja
Sounds Killer!!
Thanks!
Great for making your strings sound floppier. Bit like a flat battery.
That’s an interesting take, could be? Depends on if you like the sound of a battery dying… JHS has a great pedal for that.
Gritador is also a word in spanish
yes it is
I think gritador is in Spanish language too... not sure
It is

Just build a Klon and ts in one box with an A/B switch so u could do so many combinations with the protein

It mean screamer in Spanish
it does
Great name but I feel it needs to be pronounced differently
it needs a little more rolling of the tongue?

Too much talking!!
Always. Those guys just blabber on…
I've heard better. Sorry. IMO.

Another overpriced TS derivative? How original. Yay!
Yes! Great isn't it!
