- HI! So this video took waaay longer to edit than I expected, which explains the late upload this week, but I hope you guys like it and that it's not too long and boring, hahaha.
This is definitely not gospel, I probably did some steps out of place and switched things up, but hopefully it's helpful!
I love you all!

You are literally everything I strive to be for in life! You wear vintage clothes, you cosplay, and you have one of the cutest dogs in the world! (I mean not as cute as my dog but a close second ;D ) You are literally life goals!
My gosh you're so sweet!! Hahaha and of course our own furbabies come before anyone else's 😂
You make a gorgeous Belle by the way! I love you funny, clumsy, not taking herself seriously personality!!!
Just rewatching this - it is so impressive how much you have improved your sewing in the last couple of years xx lots of love
I love the Belle look so much!
Thank you so much for explaining your sewing step-by-step with pictures/diagrams included. Wow. That really helps me!!
You make such a cute Belle!! Also, I love your videos! I get so excited whenever I receive the notification that you uploaded another video!!!
gilliantheadventurer Awww yay hehe that makes me happy ❤️❤️
Hahaha this is amazing! I love your face when you get the hairspray on your forehead and honestly this whole thing makes me feel like cosplay is more accessible when previously it felt kind of overwhelming so I’d never bothered. Thank you for sharing with us, you make a very charming Belle!
Holy cow! Boning and draping? You're my hero. I need to get this brave in my sewing. And I thought I was doing good to make adjustments to patterns instead of sticking to them strictly like my mom. :) Beautiful cosplay.
I love this!! Your "film montages" are always so pretty and amazing~
oh Edit Piaf!!! ♡ how adorable
Kiterunner 😊❤️❤️
You are a seamstress because you do a better job than I could ever do and I love to sew! I have to use patterns. I have, however , bought two of the same skirt in the past (on clearance of course) and made them into one skirt. It's hard to do when the material is patterned or multicolored. I have also made curtians out of sheet sets as well.
So so wonderful!! It always makes my day when I get the notification that you've uploaded a new video, and you can imagine my delight when I see a cosplay about my FAV Disney princess!
LittleWitchy Heehee aww yay!!! ❤️
Oh wow! I'm seriously impressed with your draping skills! I would never have guessed that you made this without a pattern of you hadn't said so! Looks great 👍
this is beautiful!
belle has always been my favorite princess aaa
also the little clips in the end are so cute
N. Red Mesh Aww thank you so much lovely!! 😊❤️
You look absolutely beautiful, Rachel and I love your costume! Belle is one of my favourite Disney princeses and girls of all time.
Good evening from Ireland 🇮🇪
This is really awesome :) the second dress you've ever sewn from scratch and you already do draping and boning. Just fearless, I love it! I still see quite some possible improvement fitwise (some puckering in the center front and some diagonal wrinkles under the sideboobs where you probably should deepen the bust darts more and add what measurement is missing to the side seam. Back darts are very helpful too, if you want the back to sit nice and smooth. But damn, you got so much right! Back length seems perfect, as well as bust and waist circumference. Very nice shape of armhole and neckline too.I have been draping for myself and doing my own patterns for years now, always trying to perfecting the fit over the years. So please understand if I am a bit of a nimcompoop, I only try to help out a fellow experimental sewer :) This turned out really great, colour me impressed! You are a lovely belle!
Manuela Glavas Thank you so much love!!! Oh totally, there are a lot of areas that kinda came out wonky, hahahaha. I feel like they'll look good pinned then once I go to sew it the dress is like NAAAH. 😂 Thank you for the recommendations! I kinda just eyed the darts so I think more calculated ones would definitely help lol
actually, "eyeing" the darts gets mostly better results than calculating them :) I have tried to alter bought patterns to fit me (DESASTER!), I have tried to calculate personalized patterns according to books, and I have tried draping. Draping really gave me the best results. But it is a bit of an experience matter, so jumping in like you did is really the perfect way to go, I learned so much about how fabric behaves from draping alone. Now I do almost all of my vintage inspired wardrobe based on my draped basic pattern.
If you like sewing it can be a huge advantage to get someone to pin a draped pattern on some cheap" try out-fabric" directly to your body (I used my husband and a girlfriend of mine), and make up a nice cardboard pattern out of this, to be used for project after project. It is a lot of work, but can give absolutely great results, so it is worth it if you want to sew on a regular basis.
Oh yay! So I didn't do it completely wrong! Hahaha. That's so true, I feel like I'm learning so much about what looks good and what doesn't work with fabric by just jumping into it. I'm still struggling a bit with sewing straight lines to be honest, but I'm a very hasty person so it is probably just cuz I rush it a bit. I'm excited to make more things and try to get better!
Oh you got a lot right! Like I said, you really impressed me :) And what's still a bit wonky or not so perfect, will get better with experience. But we all have to start somewhere and you can be proud of yourself and this beautiful cosplay!
So cute! You make a beautiful Belle! Hint: when sewing the rectangles together to make the bow, clip the corners on the diagonal before you turn it inside out. You'll have lovely crisp corners. Pick them out with a pin for a super-sharp finish.
Tara Ranchod Ooo good to know! I was going for a more rounded look for this bow but that's super helpful!! ❤️
I absolutely love this! Belle is my favorite Disney Princess. You look awesome!
Omg you make such a great Belle!!
She was and still is my favorite Disney Princess !!
This was brilliant!!! I love Belle so much and I thought you did her wonderfully!!!
Also, you’re videos have me giggling and I love it... your humour gets me every time!
Thank you so much lovely!!
So pretty! Beautifully done video! And I love your choice of music, Edith Piaf fits so well :3
Thomas Jefferson! 😂 This was so awesome, you look amazing as Belle and did a great job on the costume! I have also always wanted to be her, maybe I'll give it a go - your instructions made it seem less daunting! 💗
Lily Von Cupcake Heehee thank you so much beauty! Do it!!! 😊
I love watching how you make your costumes!
That dark brown haircolour really suits you:)
Thank you love!!! ❤️❤️
Your little diagrams are SO HELPFUL!!
Dude I love your videos. So original and u explain it in a way that's very understanding. Please don't change your videos!
Aww yay I'm glad!!!
I'm going to have to try this! Belle has been my absolute favorite since I was a little girl! You look lovely as her and your tutorial was delightful. I can't way to make my own version :)
For being your second dress sewing, it came out fantastic! great job! thank you for sharing :)
leeloo dallis Thank you so much love!!
OMG so cute!!! all your cosplays are so good!! i really love your videos 💕.
Daiana Buzeta Thank you so so much lovely lady ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very good for your second costume! Don't worry - just stay relaxed about sewing and the skills will pile on :D
I've been sewing for years and i still eff up many times during a garment. (Compulsive pattern-avoider)
Heehee thank you!!! ❤️
Why did they not cast you for the movie?!
Megan Carroll Hahahaha I mean I ~guess~ being able to actually act was more important pffffft 😂
Loved it! I've been waiting for this video! And I totally think your hair came out perfect :)
LifeMeetSteph Heehee yay!! Thank you so much cutie! I'm glad cuz I can't unsee Thomas Jefferson 😂😂
Your work is amazing!! it turned out beautifully and the filming location you used is perfect 😄 Loving the cosplay companion series!!! ♥♥♥
Yeeeey thank you so much lovely!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved this video! Belle is my favorite Disney character (besides Ariel) so, awesome job, Rachel! 💙
Areli M Yay! Thank you so so much ❤️❤️
The Pinup Companion You're welcome! I laughed at the ending bloopers, esp when your book fell out of the basket. I always apologize to my books when I drop them hehe
I can't handle how beautiful you are, just the shape of your face is absolute perfection! This makeup and costume is so flattering on you. Every time you do cosplay my favorite part is you doing silly things in costume, I just can't help it, it cracks me up, I'm a 4 year old at heart. I would say it's like 99,99999999 % perfect, the only tiny little thing I would tweak is that area near hairline, doing some makeup magic with shading, looking like hair (something like you did for female to male transformation with makeup mustache) ?
Gorgeous as always! And I continue to be amazed at your I don't know what the hell I'm doing but it turns out really well sewing and draping skills 🙏. I mean, seriously! You got mad talent in that area. I got to ask though....why do you gather by hand?? It's so much faster and more evenly done by machine. Also, I've heard from larger chested girls, that they pad their mannequin in the chest area (or even put a bra on it) to achieve a better fit. Not a problem I have personal experience with, though ☺
Rara Avis Hahaha good question, I've never done it by machine! I only learned to do it by hand by watching others do it 😬 I'm gonna have to teach myself that way of doing it hahahaha. And I do have a bra and padding on my mannequin 😊 Otherwise there's no way I'd get the measurements even close to what I need haha
you can control much more fabric if you do the gathering by hand. because you can do longer stitches :)
The Pinup Companion Oh, haha, indeed, you have a bra on the form....I totally didn't notice 😶
As for machine gathering, you just need to loosen the bobbin tension somewhat. To about a 3 if your dial is 1-7 like mine (my normal setting would be a 4,5). You mark the front and sideseams on the piece of fabric to make distributing the fabric evenly easier afterwards and sew with a straightstich. Then you take the fabric and tug on the upper thread and it will gather the fabric nicely. The stitchlength depends on the thickness of the fabric and how "fine" the gathers need to be. If I want to ease the shoulder part of a shirtsleeve, for example, I would set it to a 2, for a skirt more likely to a 3 or 4, or even wider for a heavy woolfabric or something, since the gathers should be "looser" and more pronounced. Of course if you enjoy doing it by hand, go for it (I rather enjoy handsewing myself, it's very relaxing), but it will turn out more evenly when done by machine and of course it saves a lot of time.
Good to know!! That is all kinda gibberish to me tbh so I'd probably just watch a tutorial on how to do it next time, hahaha ❤️
The Pinup Companion 😅 ok.
But I won't stop until I get you to learn proper sewing, you know that, right?? *evil laugh*
Well done! Adore the out takes you two are so cute together!
Heehee thank you! Tommy is mah best fraaaand and I inevitably end up acting like a total weirdo around him 😂😂
The Pinup Companion isn't it great to have a friend like that? Mine live too far away, but when we get together....
Don't mind me watching old videos as I'm suck at home on a snow day.... Love this btw
Gurrl, you rock Belle! I see this video came out 3 yrs ago so I'm late to the game, but have you tried sewing your gathering stitches by machine? Might save you some headaches in the long run. You're Killin it! Looks great!
I Looooooved this video! You're so talented
What an amazing job. You are so creative. I think we all would like to be Belle.
I freaking love your channel.Haha sorry to be so straight forward but I do. Every video is amazing , already subbed and can't wait for whatever you upload next 😊
itsBernie Ahh omg you're too sweet, thank you so much 😊❤️
Edith Pilaf ♥️♥️ One of my favorite songs
Me too! ❤️❤️❤️
I know I am a few years late, but... you do have such a strong Belle vibe!
Wow! Rachel, you are amazing! :)
Ankale Ahh you're so sweet ❤️❤️
I didn’t see the “Jefferson” look at the beginning, but now I can’t unsee it 😂
I really liked it! The dress as well as the video! You look wonderful as Belle. :)
Loony Melissa Thank you so much lovely!!
This was so good. I laughed so much at the Thomas Jefferson comments then the pooping horse. This was gold. You looked beautiful, not a bit like a founding father.
Hey so I love the outcome and I’m hoping to make the same “costume” or “cosplay” for a upcoming Disney trip, and I just want to know what fabric you used. Your answer would help out a lot! Love your content, it inspired me to sew 😁
OMGlob you're like the best ever!! I'm so insanely jealous and now I want to do diy cosplay!
Kaorihana13 Awww Heehee thank you love!!
Your outakes are awesome!
Rachel not wearing red lipstick?!?!?!?! WHO IS THIS NEW PERSON!!!
I just found your channel not too long ago and I love it btw!! Keep up the awesome work!
Great job on you outfit :) You can also gather with your machine. I suck at explaining but there are some good videos on how to. Withwendy is how I learned.
Lololol 10:46
This fulfilled my childhood dreams as well, thank you for letting me live vicariously through your cosplay
Heehee Awww thank you!! ❤️
I was expecting to be more judgmental on this video because Belle is one of my favourite Disney characters in general and I’ll admit was a big childhood crush so I always tend to judge Belle Cosplays more than other characters, yet from the moment that I saw you in this video I loved it.
Long winded way of saying well done. It looks great.
So, as I was watching your other videos (as I said in the video I watched before, I'm binge watching), I was looking at your characteristics and thought "Man, she would make the perfect Dorothy or Princess Belle!", and I was going to request cosplay tutorials on the two characters. But, scrolling through, I see you've already done both! They both look amazing!! You resemble them both very much already! 💝 You should do a Lucille Ball. You sort of remind me of her, as well!! I would love to see that! 💝
Hehe that's so funny! Aww I would love to do Lucille somehow. Thank you!
Fantastic work!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😻 keep doing it!!
debsterless Eeee thank you so much lovely!!
You are so funny! I cracked up to you saying you looked more like Thomas Jefferson 😂 Loved the look!
Heehheee thank you so much!!
I'm so jealous that you could run in those fields without me 😂😂
This is amazing for your first draping!!!
Jadeikens Well technically this is the second time I've used that method, the first was with Arwen's dress last year! Getting a tiny bit better but it's definitely still a learning curve 😂
I absolutely LOVE THIS DRESS !!! I wish I could sew better . I would love to make this !!
When tommy said “ew” at the horse lmfaooo
Wow, love you voice and you nailed the character.
Thank you so so much! That means a lot to me!
Please do videos like this for ALLLLLL your cosplays! I love it
Omg 🥺 I know this was 3 years ago but I just thought it was so cute that you named your cat binx like from hocus Pocus 😍
Amazing. You are so very talented. I would love to see you dressed as Vivien Leigh In Gone With The Wind ----Cosplay. You have very similar facial features and expressions.
Grotto Serpentina Oh I hope someday I can reach the skill level to make one of those gowns haha 😍😍❤️
Amazing! Your video's are so funny and inspirational. And if you want the gathering/attaching process to be easier, you can make two rows of gathering and stitch inbetween, this will help enormously in keeping them in place :). But anyway I love the costume! Thank you for sharing.
Anne Darah Vos OMG good idea!!! I will totally do that because my gathers are always slip-sliding around hahaha
I love every video you post :)
Sarah York Omg you're so sweet, that means a lot!! ❤️
this is so lovely ♡
Little Amy Thank you so much beauty ❤️❤️
Where did you film?? This is literally the movie! Even down the waterwheel!
Hey. Hope someone hasn't already said this so I'm not being too annoying. But did you tap the spirit gum? That's what makes it tacky. Goes faster!
Renee Copher Ohh no I didn't know that!! Thank you!!!
you look sooo beautiful in this cosplay video! 😍
sorry if my English is bad :/
Lots of love from Peru ❤
Pamela Valdivia Ahh you're so sweet thank you so much!

The video, 10/10. With La Môme in background, it becomes 10 times better.
Mélyna Garant ❤️❤️😊
Loved it and wow you sew too .. okay it is official when I grow up I want to be you😁
Please continue with this kind of videos!
I definitely want to! Been a bit too busy for cosplay videos but I'mma try ❤️❤️
Aaaaah you are my favorite!!!!!
You look amazing! Also you made making the cosplay seem, not super easy, but like a normal person could actually make it without wanting to burn the fabric and the machine.
prettythinker Hahaha yay!! It's really hard to step back and see whether or not any of it makes sense to others so I'm glad it was at least understandable 😂❤️
HOLD UP! IS THAT BIOSHOCK MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND??
Hahaha yes it's Edith Pilaf! They used the same song (La Vie en Rose) in game 😊
So cute 😀
Denise M ❤️❤️😊😊
Gorgeous🌹
Dorothy next? Too cute
Adorable! Thanks for sharing. :))
My Living Journal Thank YOU! ❤️😊
turned out looking good. One hint next time clip the corners of the bow before you turn it right side out.
Sonia Bratton Good to know!! I actually liked the rounder edges in this particular instance but I'll definitely do that for future bows 😊❤️
I literally cannot find any blouse similar to yours online :'c i may just have to sew one
Aaa la vie en rose reminds me of Bioshock Infinite’s Elizabeth. ;u; ohthefeels
