    Hopefully the use of a smartphone key will have improved security via ultra-wideband to prevent the keyless entry thefts.

    Yes, Christoffer, I like having a keyfob with 3 buttons on our Buzz. While my wife has the VW app on her phone, I haven't even bothered to download it. I am totally reliant on the keyfob. We have both downloaded a separate app for our Easee charger. However, our Buzz starts charging the moment the cable is plugged in. My wife, a former accountant now retired, uses the Easee app to keep track of our EV energy consumption.

    Really great info, thank you. Fully agree on the key fob and that it should have buttons, I have no interest in having my phone with all of the time or checking the App, Bluetooth is on etc every time I want to unlock.

      @scottymeuk 7 месяцев назад +1

      To be fair, i think it's a unique problem of standing next to the car for filming. Most people won't go up to the car and stand there for a while before getting in. But i agree, add a button for the people who want the fob.

      @@scottymeuk It's very hit and miss for me anyway. Just walking up to the car- passenger door doesn't unlock when you pull the handle repeatedly. The driver door does but only after some seconds and not consistent. The connection to the key overall seems very weak. Never had an issue with Polestar 2 (or recent loaner of Volvo V60).

    It looks like Volvo has changed something on the steering wheel controls, they are small marks close to the each button.
    It is visible in the official car manual on volvo site.

    Good info! I had the following from them today too:
    "There will be amendments to the one-pedal drive later and this will be done through an over-the-air update. We are taking into account customer input when doing this."
    Any update on Car Play?

    • @theelectriccarmagazine
      @theelectriccarmagazine  7 месяцев назад +1

      Carplay will hopefully come in the same update as phone as key, so end of april if everything works out! From my understanding, it's mostly done but some final certifications and dealings with Apple is left to do.

    Great accurate reviews. Had my Ex30 for a week, yes it drives well but the iPad style interface is unnecessarily complicated. Do I really need four ways to access voice control? Other functions also have multiple ways to access them which aren’t necessary. Great that Volvo is listening and will in the future (hopefully) improve the systems. However I am concerned the my car was delivered to me with a known fault as in the connection to the internet didn’t work, ( though did when paired through my phone!) service personnel informing me that Volvo were working on it!!! Oh in the interim my voice control doesn’t work!!!!

    Loved the updates you had! It's a shame about the steering wheel buttons. For a car with so few buttons to begin with, they should've nailed the functionality and feel. I'm wondering if they will actually change it for the US production model coming later in the year.

    Do you feel they will offer a HUD as an additional cost extra? Something tells me they will as they still make money and they can capture more customers. Glad to hear about Volvo are looking more optioning their one pedal drive.

    • @theelectriccarmagazine
      @theelectriccarmagazine  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t think they will, I think they will take this battle now and then save money on many models to come later where they offer HUD as an option for example, or not at all. I think they will use this to separate their less premium products with more premium ones.

    • @AA-xb6vx

      @@theelectriccarmagazine Yeah, you are probably right. Plus for those that it’s an issue there are always aftermarket HUD you can buy and install.

    Hi! Enjoy your videos.
    A Volvo salesman told me that a software update would enable the vehicle's consumption to be reduced... numerous youtubers tests have shown that ex30 consumption on the motorway is insanely too high/bad!
    Do you have any information on this subject please?
    Best.

    • @theelectriccarmagazine
      @theelectriccarmagazine  7 месяцев назад +2

      Not that I’ve heard. Volvo says that in their consumption numbers, they are showing everything that car consumed from the battery and show that to the driver while many other car manufacturers just show part of it, for example only the not motor but not the ac etc. There is no standard to how consumption should be shown to the driver. How true this is I cannot say, I think this requires testing.

    • @pascaldacosta8412
      @pascaldacosta8412 7 месяцев назад

      Thanks. It's entirely possible.
      For your information, according to tests, the Teslas only calculate consumption when the vehicle is in motion. For example, if you're in a traffic jam with the air conditioning running, the consumption calculation stops and doesn't take into account the energy consumption required for the ac.
      But I’m still confused: consumption of a model y still seems so low compared with that of the ex30.

  • @nozarm10000

    I think you mean the suspension not the chassis. If you watch the Moost Test of the Brabus Smart, it fails miserably. And I'd guess the EX30 will fail it badly as well...perhaps even worse.

    Hey how did it go AWD performance mode vs just putting your foot down in normal mode?

    • @theelectriccarmagazine
      @theelectriccarmagazine  5 месяцев назад

      When you put your foot down hard, the car loose all the grip (since it was ice) and no effect is being given to any motor. If you drive normally, or with AWD Performance active, you have much better grip as the motor in the front help keep the car on the road. As it was very slippery, the front motor was active basically all the time even if you didn't go into Performance mode.
