Maaaan.... Great look at this bag! I was so happy the hole punch compartment was more sizeable, but extremely disappointed in the lack of interior organization..... i guess I'll be sticking with my 6. Oh well...
FINALLY! A detailed video(in English). The main thing I wanted to know was if the "hole puncher" compartment went all the way down. This answered my question. I am in the process of building a 10/22 takedown mare's leg pistol, and from what I see with the specs, this would be the perfect bag for that, and be able to use the main compartment for other things.
I just got one today. The CCW pocket easily holds a government 1911, Operator worh rail and light, and even my beast of a pistol, FN FNX .45, hardly a concealed carry pistol, yet not so big to let the pistol swim around. I also looked at thr Moab 10. It a bag tbat size might as well be a regular backpack I stead of putting all the weight on one shoulder. I also have a Moab 6 for many years. A bit small and the CCW pocket only holds compact pistols. My 1911 Commander barely fits. This Moab 8 is the Goldilocks. Just right for EDC, office gear, traveling, day pack for hiking, shopping, etc.
@ms.annthrope415 I agree. I also own both the MOAB 10 and 6 in addition to the 8. The 10 is too bulky for it to be a single strap sling. As for the 6, it's too small for me to use as a stand-alone sling bag. I cut off the strap and turned it into a large lumbar pack with a waist belt from a backpack I don't use. I use this in conjunction with my MOAB 8.
Awesome video! Yea same opinion here: NO pouch, please. This answers a few questions I had about the 8. I’m also removing (cutting off) my Sling 6 strap. Just carry it using the nylon handle.
I just picked up the LV8 and I really enjoy it. I ordered a different sling strap as I feel like the provided one is a little bulky for the size of the pack. The moab8 looks like a solid contender if it didn't have so much molle on the outside.
I think if they released a slick version it would be great. I chose the black to help keep it from being too tactical looking while around town, however now a days everyone carries tactical style so it really doesn't matter like it used to.
Find it just the right size for EDC. Wish they kept the front slip pockets. Could take or leave the media pouch, though I did use it for small things like keys. Wish they’d kept some of the internal organization from the 10. Would like to be able to stash away things I need less often.
I am really liking it. Has a few features I wish they would have kept in there but still solid and without the pouch on the strap. Thanks for watching and for the sub, will go check out your channel! Take Care
I'm with U on that pouch, Lol. Main reason why I got rid of My 6 & 10. I feel 5.11 struck out again on this design. It's imo, too big for a sling, I had an upholstery shop I work with modify mine. I transfered the yolk straps directly onto this pack making it a backpack. Why 5.11 couldn't do that is beyond Me. Seems 5.11 has a problem with small packs & cant seem to design one that works proper. Even once transformed into a backpack, at the ruin of a R12, I felt the compartments were too small to work properly as a small backpack. I tried using it as a gym bag, car bag, school bag, car bag, & just decided to give up on it & gave it away.
That dang pouch lol I work with a guy that carries a 10 daily and uses the pouch, just not for me. I really did the 8 but it needs the front flap pockets to work the way I really want it to. I agree with the size. It's just outside of backpack and sling. I have a Bellroy sling in route right now to try out.
Would love to see another video on the moab 8 especially once you got to use it a bit. very curious about the comfort and wear styles, as well as realistic ability to carry small laptops and tablets
Been debating giving this sort of carry a try. Got my eye on the ECP from First Spear, currently on a steep discount ($200 still 🤮) at Evike but can convert to a sling.

Honestly, no I would not use this pack for that style of carry. I do use the pack for CCW but as a means for when I need it stowed but still handy. I may try a pull around and draw from this but I am pretty sure it's not gonna be quick.

So for the same price they actually removed the pouch? Hmmm...how about including it as a removable option instead of just getting rid of it- it could be a simple wrap-around attachment, it obviously has its advantages for anyone using it for travel- easy front-access is great to have while on the go...
A removable or at least movable option would have been a decent option. It just got in the way for me. Hope they make a MOAB 6 version without the pouch as well. Love these packs but personally could not stand that pouch.
