Thank you and ride safe
Throughout these first few videos it’s been refreshing to hear you vocalize every thought I had in my first couple months riding.
Your channel is tight, mad props for learning on a powerful bike. You definitely had the right approach. Every rider regardless of how big the bike should be this incremental and careful in the early stages of riding.
I find your video very empowering and insightful, so much information for first time riders. I am a first time rider, you gave so much information about riding in a quiet neighbourhood, I have everything from flat to serious hills to practice on and everything in between. I have bookmarked your video. Thank you very much.
Beauty bike! Your videos are helping my anxiety greatly as a new rider :)
Thank you. I'm glad :D
Same here bro
Had to sub this is what new riders need no matter what bike they start on.. The way you are taking your time is what we all should do.. Can’t wait for my first purchase
Thank you! what bikes have you been looking at?
BIKE LIFE ninja 650.. Cbr 650 but those are all based on people’s opinions.. but in really either want gxsr 600 or cbr 600 .. Taking my course soon for License
Nice man! Yeah I went and bought my dream bike right out the gate and love it!
BIKE LIFE best part in my mind you took your time and you also gave my gf a visual of what I meant by how I wanted to take it slow .. thanks for that lol
Heck ya, awesome video. This is a great video to show anyone new to riding. Just doing all the right things, good on ya.
I’ve watched this a few times and I know you probably do it out of habit mentally, but you saying out loud what you are doing while riding is helpful to me. Ride safe man
I bought my first motorcycle in 2003 it was a Yamaha R6 Champion edition. I didn’t have a license but had a riders permit. I drove 1 1/2 away and bought it with cash from a private seller. He owned a power sports company and I rode it home that day. I’ve been riding ever since and thankfully I’ve never been down. I do however dress for slide. Stay safe out there and enjoy.
Engine braking with a mix of front brake is most Ideal for me especially in Chicago Traffic. I would kill my brake pads in this stop and go traffic. Good luck man and stay safe.
You basically did what I did with planning your routes, where to practice at. Your videos are fantastic! With my job I travel allot so I don't get to ride as much but I try to ride as much as I can. Ride Safe!
Definitely been loving these videos. I’m planning on getting my permit and taking an msf course soon. Awesome seeing someone else also going through beginner experiences
Thank you! that's awesome. I wanted to make videos of stuff I wanted to see as a new rider/soon to be first time rider.
I agree, especially with a super sport 600 gives me some hope
Just bought my 2019 GSX-R 600 (I got the black one with white decals and wheels) the day after Christmas. I’m returning to the hobby after a LONG break. I watched your first couple videos and a few points:
The bike has an A and B mode. A mode is full power. B Mode reduces the throttle response and makes it WAY easier for a new (or returning) rider to get used to.
Secondly, bro...read the owner manual! There is so much good information in there; What speeds are recommended for shifting to next gear, the break-in periods (and it’s under 7500 RPM first 500 miles and you are supposed to vary your RPMs within that range. And many questions that you ask viewers are answered by the manufacturer (who you should trust). I’ll shut up now and get back to your vids. Can’t wait until spring! (I’m in central Indiana). Take care!
that's awesome! I have read it since my last video and been loving the bike. more videos are coming soon
Nice im in northwest indiana 25 minutes from the illinois state line!
Good job, man. I'd assume you're way comfortable on your bike now. And sure you figured out to pull in your clutch to coast down hills at that low speed. You can scrub speed as needed by either letting your clutch out some (feather it) or lightly use some rear of front brake. So, that's some advice for newbies, anyway.
Are you able to ride now without thinking about everything? I couldn't wait to get to that point and it was amazing when I did. Could finally chill and fully enjoy the ride. :)
Spring is coming! Stay safe. . .
Thank you! Yeah I'm getting very close, uploading a recent ride today
What a wonderful neighborhood to practice on. I really enjoyed this lol I'm considering this bike as my first motorcycle ever, I've subscribed and so far enjoying your journey :D
Thank you! Let me know what you end up doing
New sub 👍I'll hopefully have my first bike in a couple months, I'm kind of on the same plan as you. I have all my gear and just got my license so I'm hype. Keep up the good work
That's awesome! Thank you, let me know what you end up getting and ride safe
Honestly out of every 600cc, the gsxr is the most forgiving. Very comfy ergonomics and good power. I rate their bikes as the most comfortable in every class. 300,600, and liter
Ive had both a r6 and gsxr600 and you are right. The r6 was my first bike and it was so twitchy and the gsxr was so smooth.
Great video bro, I can’t wait to get my 2020 Gsxr 600. I haven’t been on a bike ( Yamaha R6) since the crash since 2016. My wife finally agreed to let me buy a bike due to long commute when we buy our first house. Until
Then I will be watching your mvlogs. Keep it up!!
Thank you! keep me updated on when you get it and the color ect. That's sweet
I did the same thing recently man. 0 experience on 2 wheels. I bought a 07 R6 and I’ve just been practicing similarly when I have the time. Pretty soon I’ll be cruising on the road. Just need to work on my turns.
I just wanna go ahead and say that when he blows up, i was here before 100 subs lmao.
Great job man, you have WAY more control than i would have.
You're going places with this, good up the great work man! good content.
Thanks Bro! Means a lot
Hey Bro first thing beautiful bike I love it. I have an 07 R6 I have done a lot to my bike it's addicting when you start. I know it's been a minute since you posted this and bet you are riding that thing like you stolen it by now lol . Just be safe . There is probably not too much that I could tell you that will help you in your writing by now you probably set in Your writing style by now but have fun ride that thing like it supposed to be Ridden get those RPMs up but all in good fun just be safe and scared the shit out of every chick u get on the back of it but once again be safe have fun God bless you bro.
Yeah the bike engine brakes when you're off the throttle, you can pull the clutch in and coast down that's what I do, also at stop signs I try not to put my feet down I do a "California stop" like they taught us in the MSF
Personally I would not recommend coasting. You will lose control and stability. Also you are likely to gain speed going downhill and especially for a newbie the likely reaction will be to let out the clutch and you could well “hop” the rear wheel if your road and engine speed aren’t in synch. Just change up a gear until the bike feels comfortable and use a bit of brake imho.
@@merkhet9328 I've only been riding for a few months so you probably know better than me lol but I'm never going down any steep hills where I normally ride just small ones but thanks for the insight, the MSF course is a good start but you don't learn everything in that beginner course
@@cliffgiordane2969 I'm by no means an expert and didn't mean to sound quite so sure of myself there. Been riding about a year, but got quite a few miles in over a bunch of different terrains and some steep hills. All situations differ and you may approach different gradients and surfaces in different ways. That said I would definitely check out motojitsu's channel. He has at least one video devoted to downhill techniques. A quick google search does seem to basically back up the general point that coasting may not be a great idea eg: www.motorcycletesttips.uk/motorcycle-riding-tutorials/coasting-on-a-motorcycle/
Watching from Ireland and looking at a Gsxr 600 as my first bike.. I’m torn between an older k6/7 or a newer 2010 which has power modes.. both have no abs though. Any advice? Do u use/need the power modes? Is abs necessary if only a beginner? Thanks and cool channel to see a new rider on a gixxer :)
My first bike, I loaded it on my van an went to this abandoned industrial park. That was my practice spot for a while.
a good video to do would be driving in the city. I like how you talk yourself through you ride turn by turn, corner by corner
Dope vid. I drive a manual car so apply th same process 2nd or 3rd is fine.
Dude wherever you are. Wherever you live... it's absolutely beautiful
Thank you
Where are you
It’s nice in no time you’ll be flying around
Not harldy dude.... Lol
the worst damned thing about riding is the cursed blinkers! even when i consciously make an effort to turn them off after i make the turn...i forget!!! almost every time!!! lol...idk why it's so hard to remember but i usually don't catch it until I'm ready to turn again! it's so annoying lol😂
love the videos
Thank you!
you're probably half pro by now but do you still practice your emergency braking, serving, etc.? and the real fun stuff like quick launch and all that? lol
New sub great Vids!
Thanks Johnny!
Love it
I think ima get myself this bike but quick question is comfortable? I understand sport bikes aren't supposed to be but i have elbow and lower back problems you think i can get used to it? Also how tall are you?
I don't know anything different so hard to say, defiantly more comfortable bikes out there.
I'm 6'1''
Buy a Harley
Honda is a good fit for taller riders. Little more room to scootch back.
At those speeds, 3rd gear is too high. You can easily do those speeds in 2nd. 3rd isn't terrible, but 4th is definitely too high. On the downhills, even if you're approaching them in 3rd, you should downshift - use that engine braking. Avoid being under revved. The main thing to avoid is coasting - your bike rolling faster than your engine. When you're rolling, you have less control - you're giving up the control of throttle. It's not a big deal going downhill at those speeds, but going around corners at those speeds in third gear - coasting around a corner - is not a safe practice.
Agreed, 2nd gear is fine for 25mph
So you actually want to brake before you even get to the turn, accelerate through the turn.
Good job bro we need to meet up frfr 🏍🏍
Yeah! Where you live?
Sorry you said it before, Texas right?
@@bikelife4537 yes
hey dude, nice vid. to answer your question, you should shift into neutral or just hold the clutch (not sure if thats bad on a bike) when coasting downhill or otherwise, not a higher gear.
Thank you
When coasting downhill never put the bike in neutral. You may need power to pull you out of a situation that may develop.
You should take motorcycle course, this gives you the basic for emergency maneuver, and riding safely.
You should watch his other videos when he talks about passing the MSF course to obtain his M1 license.
He did
Keep it up with the long videos. Did you take the MSF course before u started biking?
I did but it was years ago
You in detroit?
South of Pittsburgh
are you riding it on C mode? is it really a difference on modes an did it help you as a first bike?
I never messed with the modes, even tho I probably should have
2011 gixxer 600 and 750 have A and B modes. A mode is full power and B mode reduces the power about 40 hp.
Does your bike have abs? Thinking of starting a used zx6r base model. I've read so many comments debating back and forth on whether bikes should have abs on it.
Gixxer 600 and 750 don't have abs.
I know you have a couple more months of experience now but about going down hill when your starting most people will slow down more than they need just watch your speed before hand and keep that lugging the big in low rpm isn't hurting the bike as long as it's not slow enough to stall it just won't be as responsive so down shift if your not using as much engine power to keep responsiveness in case of an emergency but a 600 will pull from pretty low rpm so I wouldn't get super technical about it have fun
Thank you! Very helpful
Yo bro idk if you can respond or not but what setup do you have for your channel like sound and camera? I’m about to get a gsxr750 and wanna start slow like you and become an experienced rider
I dont agree with starting with anything lower then a 600. You need to be super careful and MUST respect the bike but you will outgrow anything smaller within a month. Especially if you are riding with friends that have 600+
u know whats not good for the bike? going 13mph in 3rd gear😂
I thought that too
You shift to early shift at 8,000
I'm still breaking the bike in, under 500 miles. Good to know tho, thank you
Watch out for engine breaking that shit turns on you wuick
my first bike... i paid the guy and went for a ride..dont understand why r u complicating things... just go and ride..it will take u years to learn ur bike if u ride like in this video.. relax man and ride..
advice for begginers..corner in higer gear, like in 3rd, its smoother... and if u r scared of riding, just dont ride..i dont think that the fear will go away with experience..
