Ps plus has been 60/yr. Ps plus essential is the same as current ps plus (also 60/yr) this is mainly for online play.
The essential tier adds a selection of ps4/ps5 games downloadable plus ubi+ classic. For 100/yr.
The premium adds classic ps1, ps2 titles downloadable and stream only ps3 titles. And game trials. For 120 a year.
PS now is 60/yr. So the price of ps now + ps plus is still 120/yr.
There is no price increase unless you had ps now without ps plus.

My Issue is that they Blocked the Ps Plus Cards And Digital Purchases Until June Meaning People who aren't Subscribed can't Play Online.

I add every PS Plus game to my library, you never know what you'll want to play in the future. And with a library of hundreds of PS Plus games, I don't see me canceling it anytime soon.

Yeah if you have the service it’s definitely worth adding the games even if you don’t come back to it for months. Thanks for the comment! Happy gaming 😊

    Short version:
Sony are only offering two more expensive membership plans, in addition to the existing basic plan. Notice the absence of a plan which is cheaper; only ones which are more expensive? A cheaper one for those of us who only require online play would have been very welcome but greed seems to be the thrust of this ‘all-new PlayStation Plus’.
I only play 3 or 4 games online, all of which I have paid full price for. The only thing I require from a PS+ subscription is online play. I’m really not interested in monthly games or discounts - just give me online gaming only with a cheaper subscription, thank you.
Better still, introduce a ‘tick box’ system in which you select the services you want and get charged accordingly, instead of getting charged for things you don’t want or use.
    Long version!
I add pretty much every monthly game to my Library just in case I decide to download and play one at a later date, but frankly, that’s unlikely. I don’t play the monthly games that much. I’m not interested. I’ll try them, be disappointed and never play them ever again!
For me, and I’m sure many gamers alike, the original lure of PS3 over Xbox was that online play was completely free. Later it became compulsory to purchase a PS+ subscription if you wanted to play online. Why? Because they could. If Microsoft were getting away with charging their customers, why couldn’t SONY do the same? If I were in the market for a gaming console, it would not be as clearly defined for me now as it was then.
Sony as a whole are second to none, in my mind. Their expertise in high-end professional TV and studio equipment, Sony α cameras, niche Xperia smartphones to give any iPhone a run for their money, TV and audio consumer equipment, their minimalist and sometimes jaw-dropping iconic styles … the list goes on, but their gaming arm is a bit of a mixed bag. Greed seems to be the overall thrust of their long term plan. ‘Greed’ is a strong word to use but probably not that far off the mark.
I’m on PS5 now and, other than the monthly games and the odd dedicated server, I’m really not sure where all this PS+ money is going. A quick search on the internet mentions ‘Number of subscribers of PlayStation Plus worldwide as of March 2022, 47.4 million subscribers’.
The lowest PS+ tier in the UK without a discount is £50 per year. So, 47M x £50 = £2,350,000,000. That’s over £2Billion folks ($2,882,272,650 US). Yes, ‘billion’ not ‘million’. I’m beginning to sound like Brian Cox!
I don’t want the option to play from a catalogue of hundreds or even thousands of games, or get discounts for games I’ll never consider buying… A lower tier £25 per year for online gaming only, I would not say is unreasonable. Would you?

First off thanks for this thoughtful comment! Definitely way to much greed going on in this world. They know what we want at this point. I love your idea of a checkbox system where we can choose what we want! That would be great! Making us pay for this we don’t need or want is bad. Again thanks for your comment. I appreciate it 🙏

I totally feel the same way. Playing games online should be a standard part of purchasing any online-based game. Having to pay a fee to do so is a joke. I get it that dedicated servers cost money to run, but game publishers recoup this cost via DLCs and updates. A PS+ subscription does not cover a publisher's/developer's online expenses and only gives Sony billions, like you said. And the fact that many people think they get "free" games is even more laughable. NO PS+ GAMES ARE FREE!!! They are subscription-based, meaning if you end your subscription you will no longer be able to play the games on or offline. A cheaper PS+ for online access only would have been more considerate to consumers who buy their games outright and care less for random monthly games. And given how poor the level of the PS+ monthly games have been over the years, I'm sure the majority of PS+ subscribers would opt for online access only.

@@jondoe-du2fr I couldn't agree more. The online PlayStation gaming community, who only need online multiplayer access, need to push for a free of charge (or cheaper) PS+ subscription. If a PC gamer can play online for free (and they do), why should a console gamer who only needs online play be chastised?

I just had my yearly £50 taken from bank, for my ps plus and to be honest, I was going to cancel but I just left it. I mean, I used to play destiny and battlefield, online loads, 2014-2019 and to be honest, it’s kinda worth the subscription, IF you play loads online and the games are a bonus but now I don’t play online and like you said, most of the ps plus games are rubbish. So , why did I keep it. Well, it’s £50 per year. 1 new physical game costs £50 plus and if I can get even 3 or 4 really good ps plus games, per year, then it’s kinda worth it. Especially as it works out to less then £1 per week. Saying that, I’m not exactly well off and many others are in same position and £50 for a subscription where I probably won’t play online and may be lucky to get a few games I like on ps plus, then it’s kinda not worth it but I do really like the odd time that you get a great game on Ps plus, out of the blue. Maybe, they could possibly plan out the next year of monthly games, and give us the list, especially as they usually give us some great triple a games . That way, you can check the list and say, hmmmm next year has 2 games I want, I’ll pass. Or oh wow, next year has like 10 great games that came out a year or 2 ago, that I passed on, for whatever reason and of course, you’d be happy to keep subscription. Knowing what games your getting and knowing your not wasting money. The merging plus and now etc , is actually possible very worth it but again, only if there are lots of games you like. Personally, I think I won’t do Ps now or whatever. Maybe if they did it where you pay a cost and have access to every game. Again, the cost would be higher and only worth it if your the type of person that is a huge gamer and drolls at having access to ALL games for £100, per year or £200 etc. Personally, I just wish it was like 1995. See a great looking game like say resident evil, in gaming magazine, see release date, get excited, buy day 1 and play. End of. Now it’s, ps plus £50 per year, ps now, day 1 edition. Special edition, collectors editions and so on and don’t get me started with gambling , in games. Especially, loot boxes etc where it’s clear to see that the main player base is kids. I get devs need to make money but that is discusting. Make a a game make profit, ducking loot boxes, pay to win, micro transactions. I’m sick of it. Especially, the loot box/gambling in predominantly kids games. Like, if someone wants a gold skin on their gun or a new outfit. Let them earn it, in game like it should be. At most, just let them pay a small fee, to outright buy the gold skin, armour outfit etc. Don’t entice kids to fucking gamble, possibly wasting £100 plus, trying to WIN a gold skin. What has the world come to? Even if the gambling was in games that 100% only adults could get access to, it’s still sick behaviour. As we all know that gambling can be a huge problem for some , losing their car, home etc and here these devs are actively trying to get people into that crap. Just make a good bloody game, people will buy and you’ll make millions. Rant over 😭😭😭😭

Agree with most but it isn't the devs being greedy it's ever since the rich saw how much money gaming was making then used the likes of ea and ubisoft to invest, once that happened gaming got greedy as the investors take a lot more money than you probably realise. And you can download the games not just stream.
