When you know more than half of these words from watching subtitled anime. Either you can think that's awesome and be proud of yourself, or be like "darn...I need a life." I chose the latter.
It has been quite a few years since I found this, and I've had to look for it every time for some reason. I just wanted to say I've enjoyed this video a lot, and I appreciate you making it :)
Thank you for this one, you are a great teacher. Really need more videos like this. I wonder if it's even possible for me to learn kanji at all, if there are thousands of them how many do I need to learn to start entry level reading/writing?
I knew some words and phrases in Japanese, but forgot a lot of them - except 'hello' and 'help' lol… they always stick with me more than others. but you'd think i'd remember 'good morning' because it sounds like the state I live in --- OHIO (lol SMH)… I love the language, and I love ASMR so to combine to 2, to me, is just not only heaven but smart… that's one very pleasant way to learn
Is the reason why doctors' handwritings are so bad because they needed to write so much in school that it was a necessity to shortcut their own penmanship in order to complete all of the work in a timely manner..? Her nice handwriting made me think about it...
Doctors handwriting is so bad cuz they don't want us to understand what they really write like: "idk know what this f-ckn man is doing here but i don't give a shit, he only have a cold, so give to this shitty one a [insert medicament here] and [also here] , and let's get 'some' cash". and then you go to the drugstore :'v
I'm really trying to memorize Hiragana/Katakana, but I can't seem to make them stick, is there some sort of method that would make recall a lot easier? I feel like if I can crack the Kana bits, the kanji will fall into place, as I can always start with children's books which include the hiragana on top.
Only way to really do it is to write both over and over again until your hand , and eye, develops the muscle memory of recognizing each character subconsciously, just like you do for your native language. That's what I did at least
In addition to Rob's suggestion, you could also try using flash-cards for hiragana, katakana, and kanji. They help me a lot. Just make sure give yourself regular "memorization sessions" while gradually adding more cards to your sessions. :)
I dont wanna break ur spirit but kanji isnt going to fall into place, its 10x harder to memorise than the katakana and hiragana. I learned hiragana in around 4 hours. My metho was just to write 1 line (a,i,u,e,o), write each about 5 times. Then cover what ur learning from, and write them 5x over again. If u make a mistake or forget one, repeat the process. then when u nail that line without looking at ur hiragana sheet, start the same on the 2nd row. sounds silly maybe but i really did get them in around 4 hours time with a sheet that showed the stroke order for them.
Trust me, hiragana and katakana are a *lot* easier to learn than kanji, lol. I don't mean to be discouraging but you will learn to hate kanji, trust me. As for tips learn them by series, writing on a chart, i.e. A - I - U- E- O = あ い う え お KA - KI - KU - KE - KO = か き く け こ SA - SHI - SU - SE - SO = さ し す せ そ etc. Just work on learning to write each series at a time until you get them all. I'd start with hiragana but you could start with katakana; they're exactly the same syllables, written differently. The usual order is A - KA - SA - TA - NA - HA - MA - YA* - RA - WA* - N* * = not a full a series; N is only ん If you can remember by the first sound: A-K-S-T-N-H-M-Y-R-W-N and think up some kind of mnemonic device that works for you. After you learn either hiragana or katakana work on the ten-ten (i.e. te - て becoming de - で -- note the 'HA' group has special round superscripts that make them PA - PI - PU - PE - PO but this is the only syllable series with it; it's ぱ = PA etc.), then the subscripts i.e. しゃ = shi + ya = sha. Once you get all that for either hiragana or katakana I can say the other will be pretty easy. I suggest hiragana first because they're usually harder for native English speakers to write. The other bunch *will* fall into place pretty quickly I think once you learn one. Kanji are another beast, because they're from China, and insane--as shown in this video you write "wasabi" in kanji starting with 山 which is also 'yama' and can also mean 'mountain', probably because it grows on mountainsides but heck if I know--and there are like 5,000 of them :). Oh and be careful in that when some are particles they are pronounced differently, e.g. watashi no namae wa ( わたしのなまえは) ("my name is", without kanji :)) ends with what would otherwise be 'ha' because the ending 'wa' in that case is a particle (as is 'no', but that doesn't change pronunciation). The others that do this are へ which as a particle is 'e' not 'he', and を which as a particle is 'o' not 'wo'.
Anyone else obsessed with how she writes her lowercase g's?? Like, hot damn that is a perfect g!
bloodymack15 theres the G

Good Job! by the way I love how japanese people pronounce my name:
Felix = Ferikusu
Nevir202
And when it comes to my name Florian and they would abbreviate it to Flo they would pronounce it as furo which means bath.

And, very relaxing.
Thanks.
I think you meant sugoi.
Even a monkey can fall from a tree.
For example, I'm sure you meant 'meant', not "ment".
Is English your first language?
