- Just before season 3 of Mando began airing, Jon Favreau sent the internet into a frenzy with his comments that "many years" have now passed throughout the course of The Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. We dissect his quote, alongside a few others from Favreau, Filoni, and more, and compare that with the actual passage of time within The Mandalorian itself.

The forensic chronologist strikes again. Definitely enjoyed this rundown, I think this makes the most sense. I gotta say tho I have little expectations for the Star Wars or MCU timeline books coming out, chances are your channel will remain the best place for the public to go for our timelines
Thank you, Starvel. My guess with the books is that they’ll give rough estimations of where stuff occurs, but will give no reasoning behind why the title or event is dated the way it is.
Enjoyed the breakdown. I definitely noticed a big time jump from S2 to S3 as you can tell how much Greef Karga aged and they commented on how much the city had changed. Couldn't tell S1 and S2 had that much time difference and 2 years with Luke 🤯

One of them is treated canonically and one isn’t.

good breakdown, brother. let's just hope someone figures this out, cause they already talking thrawn's return and how everything taking place right now is all going to tie together. the timelines are confusing to say the least. but, i guess we will have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Take actual science into account and you can easily explain it by "gravitational time dilation" or something like that. Different Planet sizes, different Sun sizes in the systems, proximity to black holes.... every different planet would or could have different passing of time. lukes planet where he trains grogu could pass time quite faster than the planets Mando travels on etc. think INTERSTELLAR and the Gargantua effect but not as extreme.

Canonically it’s on a different day than the Winter Solstice, or Solstice Tide, but yes. To the Wookiee’s it’s their Christmas.
