i brought the 20000 and 30000 me and my brother love them, nothing can compare when it comes to strength and drag the 20000 will literally catch whatever you want, the 30000 is just insane perfect for sharks and big tuna. saving up for the 10000
Just got my own 10000L last week BNIB. I used my friends last year plugging for Yellowfin Tunas at the FADs. I paired it with the Okuma 1pc 7'6" PCH XH Rod. I just spooled on 1,099ft of 50lb Eminent braid by Soft Steel using my Large Fishon Line Spooler. Always good to spool your own line!
@@Lukewarm39052 Hi, I went for the 30000 form Marine Deals and sad to say it failed before I even got to fish it. Took out the box, screwed on handle (LS) and grind, grind, grind plus Massive play when hold rotor and wiggle handle (like a loose rotor nut would do, but unscrewed nut cover and was very tight). Took back to shop and they agreed, something very wrong internally. I service reels and have over 50 spinners (30 overheads, 1 underhead and 1 Alvey) but couldn't take apart as would void warranty etc. Was going out on the water the next day and they only had one in stock (and out of them in warehouse) so they gave me a Stella 30000 for same price. $1179 vs $1499. So I got a cheaper Stella. Very disapointed and thought quality control would be better with Okuma's flagship reel. The other Okuma I had was an Azores 90, which blew apart internally (eliptical gear they told me) from a 30kg Yellowtail Kingfish) but my Coronado is still holding together, as is my Ceymar 40 softbait reel. I know they are mega strong, but I was quite shocked at the weight of the 30000 Makaira (stella 30k not too bad). So if I get the ball's to try another one, I may get the 20000 as my big topwater reel. I use the 30k sizes for sharks and the odd silly sword & attempt. My Saragosa 25000 has been good as has my Penn Slammer 3 10500. I was really let down, not very impressed & quite put off. Sorry but true...cheers, David p.s mine did the same as this one in the link below, but i didn't even get to spool up mine!! ruclips.net/video/WCbKJTS2ceI/видео.html
To be honest, I was worried about that myself. It's one thing to have durability but what's the point if you don't have enough smoothness. Daiwa and Shimano are probably staying away from the Stainless steel gear because of that grind.
@@eves08109 it’s an absolute unit of a reel man. I love it more than any big game reel I’ve held. I have my saragosa 25k I compare it to and the Makaira feel like a tank. The drag is the best I’ve ever used super smooth and perfect for surf fishing.
It probably is. But the VSB Van Staal does have a bad ass German made clutch bearing. I love my Van Staal vsb and it has never failed me but I guarantee the drag system of this Okuma is better. But if you don't mind a sticky drag, the Van Staal vsb is great.

Do you think the 20k is enough for sharks from the beach? What line are you using on it?

I wish they made a 5000 size. Would use for trophy river stripers under dams and fast current
You got me, gonna pull the trigger on the 20000LS in 1 minutes time. I emailed Alan Hawk & he re confirmed his review. Do it!.....Done it.
Need to get one!
What a beast... and it looks the goods too!
I'm with you Rob, one to add to your collection ;) Cheers, Justin
Just need the 20000 and 30000

Yeah I got the 30000 Makaira and that thing is just a Beast a have had some big sharks on him
That's insane...
Hey Adam, it's definitely a beast of a reel. Hope you're finding a fish. Cheers, Justin
Having some gear issues, sent mine in and they needed to get some from Taiwan. They all seem to be too grindy. Will check back in.

i wonder how much longer before 8000 comes out....im so sick and tired of waiting.
How is your reel holding up? Any problems so far? I just got the 20k and I’m a little worried seeing a few people got “bad ones”.
How has yours held up?

I have a Mak 10 but my handle is different all black 🤔 Did they change it this year ?
just spool lip different yeah?
How much drag
Better than VAN STAAL ?

VS is for a different kind of fishing.
the 10000 i have comes with a rubber knob... i thought only the 20,000 and 30,000 come with the aluminum knobs
The 20K & 30K comes with the aluminum knob. The 10K has the ergo grip.
