This turned out pretty dang good! I have made my own dresses and clothing and I used to cosplay which is a whole thing on its own. The biggest tip I have for this is making sure you cut the fabric to where the stretch or give is going around you in areas you might need relief on . So like for a waist you would want your fabric to stretch horizontally where as a bodice might need vertical stretch from shoulder to waist or stretch around the sleeves at the shoulder to pit point. Not every fabric has a ton of give, but it always has some. Edge banding is nice if you want to do that. The stitch in a ditch method is great then for hiding the stitch line when you attach a banding too. I am lazy though and have always stitched right sides together and then flipped and pressed them out. You did great on your first attempt! Can’t wait to see what else you make!!!

Holy moly! You did a great job making your dress. I have trouble following a pattern let alone making one yourself. Well done 🎉

Just started watching, I love sewing and when I have time I'm actually good at it. I have had material now for years I haven't gotten to actually making a dress.

The dress looks good! I’ve been wanting to make my own clothes but I don’t know where to start so I just procrastinate haha. Your video gives me some inspiration!

Just go for it! Using that other dress as a pattern was definitely very helpful in understanding how things are pieced together :-) I also looked up a lot of tutorials whenever I was unsure. It ended up being really fun, and if you can find fabric at a discount or thrifted that's even better because then if it doesn't work out, you won't have spent a lot on it!

I would suggest looking up a sleeve pattern just to get the right shape so that they don't stand out like that. I also hate finishing necklines. Great job, it looks great 😄

Totally agree, I think I'll get one for sure. That was easily the most challenging part! And thank you!

Also making clothes for your kids is a whole other wonderful thing because it is ridiculously expensive
