  • Today I'm reflecting on my first six months as a first time mom. Navigating a huge life change and figuring out our son has been both challenging and fulfilling. Let's chat about it!
00:00 - Let's chat about my first six months as a mom + disclaimers
05:33 - The newborn stage would feel never ending and scary
07:19 - I would be so exhausted that I would be unable to function
12:31 - A routine would fall into place quickly
15:11 - It would take several months to get Teddy sleeping though the night
18:34 - I would follow trends + avoid things like screen time or contact naps
    21:03 - I thought I would exclusively pump
22:57 - I would be able to feed breast milk only
25:35 - Teddy would need TONS of clothes, especially as a newborn
28:01 - There would be hard days
    29:48 - Upcoming plans + well wishes

Thanks for this. I'm due with my first baby at the beginning of December, so almost a full year behind you. I love hearing about different experiences just to kind of prepare myself for what to expect. Even though I know everyones experience is different and you can never fully prepare yourself for a first baby haha :P

This was really cool to hear about your experience! ❤ My husband and I are trying to conceive right now and I get nervous here and there about what to expect. It’s nice to hear what worked for you and any bit of information about being a first time mom I wanna know lol!

So glad to hear it helped you out! I will definitely be making a baby item video about all the stuff we use and love! (And the stuff we don’t). Registries can be sooo overwhelming to make, so I found those type of videos helpful! Fingers crossed for you and your husband that you’ll be expecting a little nugget soon!! 💗

I was also exclusively pumping and the same thing happened to me right around 4 months my son almost doubled his intake.. one night my husband got home from work to me on the couch in tears while pumping and my son laying on the couch next to me screaming, waiting for the milk I was pumping.. he said ‘I’ll be back in a sec’ and within 10 minutes came home with formula and told me to go to bed and made our son a bottle and saved me in so many ways.. I felt so bad that I couldn’t keep up and had so much guilt but my son never new the difference and he has just turned 3 😊 thank you for sharing your experience with us

First time mom here too- My daughter is a month old and boy have my expectations already been challenged. On the positive I had a similar experience to you in that my mom/maternal instincts kicked right in and I felt like I knew what to do. On the other hand I also thought we would just do breast milk, but when she was a week old we had to take her to the ER since her bilirubin levels were extremely high and she lost too much weight. Our doctor then had us supplement with formula (we use gentlease too) to give her that extra vitamin D. I also found pumping so hard, yet breastfeeding her so easy. Now she’s so healthy and has gained all the weight she needs for her age. At the end of the day my daughter is fed and that’s all that matters💜 Motherhood is a wild ride and I so enjoy hearing about your journey!

Fellow mom who also didn’t think we’d do screen time early on. 😂 Ms. Rachel, hey bear were younger baby day favs. Now at 22 months she has added Mickey club house and cocomelon (also said I wouldn’t have her watch coco melon) luckily she likes variety. Every kid and family is different. ❤

I totally groove to hey bear😂 we’ve watched Ms Rachel as well a couple times! He also has watched bear in the big blue house which is nostalgia for me and I often watch with him haha!

From what you said, I get the feeling that you should tell other mothers to forget TikTok and do what is right for you, not what is expected.

Bingo! Although I must say, I’ve learned some serious life hacks from TikTok haha. I just try not to relate too hard to others! Because everyone is so different
