Great video, I really wish there was video somewhere of the C&O line between New Buffalo and Wellsboro. I spent the first 9 years of my life in Springville and moved right before it was removed.
I have a *very* short video (maybe 5 seconds) that my dad shot of an ex-L&N GP40 going NB across the US 20 bridge in Springville, Dec. 20, 1986. It was headed solo back to New Buffalo. While he was filming, I ran up the bridge embankment and took these 2 photos with my Disc camera - www.flickr.com/photos/wmuzeke/52596376542/ & www.flickr.com/photos/wmuzeke/52597296920/. I've been trying to figure out where to include the short clip - maybe a 1986 compilation is in order. Thanks for your comments!
@@wmuzeke Thank you very much for the pictures! I can't believe how well the track looked only to be taken out just 2 or 3 years later. My step-dad and I walked from where Reith-Riley was, or still is down to the crossing with the old NKP line before it was torn out. Thank you again, it brings back good memories.
It was nice welded rail through there and was maintained. I have another video on here titled "Conrail Judd Tower (La Porte, Indiana) 1987 -1988" if you haven't seen it already that you might be interested in. No trains on the C&O, but you can see the diamonds still intact and a cut of hopper cars spotted just to the south.
I miss fanning from the mid 80s to the late 90s. It was a great time. Superb video as always and #49 stole the show for me. I also like the radio audio on there 👍
I can never get enough pre-2000s footage. Sadly, watching these always makes me want to get out and railfan... only for me to remember trains are far more homogeneous these days 😂
When this was filmed the C&O was already gone, but I think it was still 70 when the diamonds were there. There was a period in the 80s when track 2 was slower - maybe 50.
@@wmuzeke Wow, Ive seen many photos of 48/49 when judd was still in place and have always searched to see the speed posts but I dont think Judd had them posted along the ROW.
I just double checked my notes and the description above is correct. It is 328 on the Broadway. So for 328 - this footage and the 1987 clip in Vol. 5 at 21st St. (leading The Cardinal) are all I have of that one. I'm not a bell person, but 328 had one of the less common lower-pitch types. Really interesting. For 326, the only footage/recording I have is the 1989 clip in Vol. 5 at Lumber St. leading the Ann Rutledge. I'm just finishing up 249 and should get that out soon!

I just uploaded a video that contains the Springville clip. It's at the 20:14 mark - ruclips.net/video/T1CpP-ldGiY/видео.html
Man these were the Days😌💯. Love watching Trains on Conrail back in those wonderful days👍🏾

Thanks! I agree - the 80s/90s were great times - in the words of Bruce Springsteen - "Glory Days".....
Nice GTW 4602 leading that first train. I was just filming that engine in Akron Ohio about 7 hours ago.

Love the inclusion of scanner talk in the video.
These vids are gold. I'm assuming Judd Tower is long gone.
Yep not sure of the exact time frame, but it was knocked down not long after I filmed this. Thanks for your comments on the video!
@@wmuzeke I'm glad you got the old tower on video. Not many left.
great vid. thanks.
Nice!
Thanks.
Was it 70 throught La Porte even the branch crossed next to Judd?

Thank you for this Zeke! Also one question was the Lead F40 on the #41 the 328 or the 326? The description shows that it was the #328
