Chat be like “Nooo you can’t use magic, you have to just swing a sword and spam roll the entire time! It’s the rules!!” But seriously what’s with the gatekeeping on playstyle? I get that some people find more gratification from a greater challenge, totally respectable. But they don’t understand that for others it’s more fun to experiment. Both are valid. There’s a ton of cool magic shit in the game that a lot of work went into.
Not to mention that there are some bosses that are harder for casters than melee builds.
@@BigO161107 i try to balance both. Some bosses get dominated by magic, some get dominated by sword.
Try fighting rune bear with magic, you'll die so fast its not even funny.
i would probably not play this game without magic build, it made the game more fun and accessible for casual souls fans like me

I like soda, been watching him for almost a decade now. But the thing that really gets me with every new game he plays is when he just skips the simple tutorial messages only to ask a few moments later how things work. I mean it takes seconds to read them quickly, why not just do it.

I dont get how people get lost in this game and don't know where to go? There's roads on the map clearly visible and the sites of Grace have gold dust aiming in the direction of the goal, you can place beacons and you can use glow stones as bread crumbs. All these DS linear map pros that can own bosses need to Get Good at not getting lost now.
I think the general idea is not about getting lost but the fact that people aren't used to judging their relative strength by themselves - since it's possible to kill anything people madge when they run into margit without any upgrades and find it too hard but don't bother with figuring out how to get stronger

I dont think comet azure actually counts as a 1 shot, since it hits multiple times in succession. Its 1 spell, but its not 1 hit
They shouldn't nerf magic at all, early bosses are all easy regardless. What they probably shoulddo is buff Colossal weapons damage against bosses because they're pretty unrealistic to beat harder bosses with unless you're an overleveled shield hugger. But theres alot of bosses that straight up slap mages by existing because of magic resistance. Bosses have better AI in this game, for example the Godskin Apostle will always throw a black fire ball at you if you drink a potion and it will always have time to hit you unless you're very far away.
Honestly, what I do to make Colossal Weapons work is get two of them (the kind that require regular Smithing Stones, and in my case, I use Guts' Greatsword and a Zweihander), and put either a buffing Ash of War on them, and just slap everyone, or put Bloodhound's Step, to dodge everything, and abuse the hell out of Jumping Attacks.
@@GrimmBones I just got used to the lower damage, makes killing bosses more satisfying. Rocking Vykes War Spear right now. Madness doesn't work on bosses but it is very fun in PvP.

I spent like 5 hours on morgit before finding out there’s a summon and beating him in one try.

in what universe spamming spells from safe distance is weak? it's by far the most OP class

@@ruyijingubang582 later bosses will literally be more agressive and have better ai against ranged classes. From what I've seen in later fight being melee is actually more op.

Anyone else having fps drops and crashing on pc? Two of my friends have the same issue. We should easily be able to run the game on max.
try setting vsync off and fps lock to about 58 frames. that fixed my controller input lag at least
there is no option for vertical sync in-game, but it's on by default, so I had to do that in nvidia control panel.
Check the reddit, tons of fixes posted for it.
I for some odd reason had no issues with it. I'm guessing it's due to graphic cards settings?

Stuttering isn't that bad for me. It's mostly when you're about to enter a new area. It happened more when I was in the first area, but pretty much stopped when I pressed further. Still happens here and there, but rarely.

Not true at all. Honestly i finder it harder with torrent as melee since you cant dodge. Literally no difference to how soda played, you dodge his attacks then get a swing or two in, then dodge again.
@@jukeswolfy2593 right, except for the fact that he can bait swings from just out of his range and get free potshots in. Nothing wrong w playing magic, I'm gonna next playthrough, but melee is def harder.
@@mitchelldittes2555 free potshots being 80 damage lol. sure its safer, but its way slower. Magic is decent in its own way but its not straight up better. If you start samurai and go in with uchigatana, bleed procs just obliterate this dude.
@@jukeswolfy2593 I'm not gonna argue the fact that most fights are easier w range being the main source of damage, dude I beat crucible knight as my melee by fighting him to phase 2 and then just throwing bombs and knives at him till he died

@@cemilh5505 Incredible art direction, varied combat styles, immersive world building, 50+ bosses and a map that's around twice as large as Skyrim are good reasons. Also, unlike Skyrim, the world actually feels designed with purposeful placement of venues/enemies. It's basically the most ambitious action game you'd find this year. Honestly, the only objective critique I've seen is the framerate drops and everything else sounds like generic copy pasta.

Just saying, and id assume there are more of us, he is not alone with the accidently jumping when trying to pick something up and do actions. But, thankfully you can completely remap the controller however you want so i switched jump and the action button. Super glad i did, much more comfrotable IMO even when holding A to use quick slots or 2h weapons. Initially on Xbox it kinda made skipping through dialogue skip the following line if you just pressed A because it acts like you are pressing the button twice (which was patched after the servers went live on xbox) but other than that, im honestly not sure why they didnt just have that as the initial controller setup

It's pretty ridiculous how people call magic cheese when the easiest way to play in any of the souls games is to get big heavy weapons and armor, and just tank hits while hitting stuff back. I've played these games in every way possible and that's always the way that allows you to make the most mistakes and still win.
Souls games are the only games where I play a man as my toon.

Is it optimized for pc? The reviews on steam was mixed and im not sure if i wanna buy it now or not
its a mess but hopefully fixed soon , dev allready know and replied to be working on it
nope it runs like ass. Asmongold tried to hide the fact it runs like hot garbage by saying "I don't own a 3090" when he has a 3080 and turned the graphics settings down and it was still a stutter fest. I'm not sure if its launched with a day 1 patch which might solve some of the issues though so check that out before buying to save the headache
The frames are absolutely horrible for me and many others. But I have heard there are people who do not suffer from frame rate issues. Inside the first dungeon the frame rates were fine for me but in the open world area its unplayable.
I recommend buying it, going to the open world area in under 2 hours and if it's bad you can just refund.
They did acknowledge the fact that the game is running poorly and they are working on it.

Go Ds1 then ds3 then either Demon souls or Ds2. BUT, if you want to improve your playstyle radically after learning ds1, you can play try Bloodborne right after Ds1. It teaches you how to be agressive and not rely on shields anymore.

The 60 fps lock is the only thing stopping me from getting the game. The input lag drives me nuts after being used to a 144-240hz monitor over the years. Especially since my 240hz monitor has much higher delay at 60fps compared to a monitor built for 60. For anyone saying that there is no difference or it doesn't matter, I can only say that you must not have much experience with a high refresh rate monitor and a computer capable of getting higher framerates. The mouse lag alone going from 240fps to 60fps is enough to annoy the piss out of me. If it wasn't an action game I wouldn't care as much.

Lol I have at the time one of the fastest monitors available at the time I bought it. It has gsync which scales the refresh rate of the monitor to the frame rate of the game dynamically. Which eliminates screen tearing. Doesn't change the fact low frame rate dramatically increases input lag regardless of the monitor. You don't even need a good monitor to see this. Go into a game and limit the frame rate to 60. Then uncap the frame rate, comparing the fluidity of the mouse and how much better menus feel.
Guys if nobody cared about it, they wouldn't be selling high refresh rate monitors and gsync wouldn't have had so much money put into it for development. There is a reason it exists and it is truly night and day difference. If you come from console gaming I understand not being able to tell a difference or not caring. Even using a controller helps 60 fps feel better. But once you've used it you won't want to go back. Almost all new AAA games do not have a frame cap at all and if they do it's usually not 60. The few that do are criticized for a reason. It's crazy to limit it or tie it to the engine where you can't change it. People have 3080s and hardware is only going to get better, 60 fps is surpass able yet you can't.
It isn't a bad thing to criticize a game like this for a "feature" it should have. Defending it by saying it doesn't matter isn't going to sway the people who know it does make a difference. Many get motion sick at 60 fps in games like this because it's too choppy and too much movement.
To anyone who hasn't owned a g sync or free sync monitor with 144hz+, do yourself a favor and go get one. They get cheaper and cheaper, even just browsing the internet is so much smoother. Worth every single penny except for games like this. It's not only for fps, competitive fps games just happen to benefit the most.
Edit: you can instantly tell a difference when you go from 60 to 30fps. It's dramatic and horrid. Same thing happens from 120 to 60 etc. After 144 you get diminishing returns, but the difference before it is huge.

Summary of real player reviews from steam (in case you haven’t seen them):
-the game overall has a barely-above-neutral rating. Good games typically have a “positive” or higher rating.
-Many of the positive reviews say the exact same thing and look very scammy and suspicious. There’s not enough variety of vocabulary. Most positive comments look like they’re directly targeting a negative comment, trying to PEMDAS it or otherwise.
-Negative comments, admittedly, are also lacking in varietal vocabulary. However; the main negative factor credited is the terrible performance. This game does not run well on most computers, from the highest highs to the lowest lows. The software is faulty and is not optimized to run above 60fps, commonly hitting lagspikes even at or below this cap.
-personally I haven’t bought the game to test it (because of these reviews), but I would definitely not recommend buying it until these issues are fixed. It’s not worth the hassle
