Online articles say not to peel them, the stuff will come off on its own. But I’ll bet that would take a long time and I’m sure there’s some that would not peel off. I think it’s probably really good for the animal to be free and clear of all that old skin as long as it’s done carefully and the iguana doesn’t seem to get upset, as here.
You should not tease him by putting his old spikes on his head. He is stressed enough! I wish people would realize that a lizard does not close his eyes due to relaxation. It's due to stress!
I hear...now don't quote me on this but...I hear that their shedding skin eventually falls off on its own as times goes on? Or they're somehow able to get the shedding skin off their face by rubbing against objects? Don't know if any of this is true though. Just a thought. 😅
