    The Rock 'N' Roll album on the first batch of this box set has errors. "Sweet Little Sixteen" was repeated twice on the record and "You Can't Catch Me" is missing. Universal acknowledged this and had instituted a replacement program which is now expired.

    I have a 25 year old 4 CD set of unreleased John Lennon music: it's still sealed in its original plastic wrap; never opened or played! I don't know anyone else who has this, though I'm certainly not the only one who has this boxed set!

I also need to open a vinyl 'Imagine' box that's still in it's shrink wrap. I get so busy with work that I just shelve some things and forget about them. I need to get that opened ASAP and on my turntable! LOL Thanks for the visit and for the comment. :)

There was something else that came out around that time (I THINK) that had a lot of demo tracks on it. I would love to see a picture of your box set. I remember hearing “Whatever Gets You Through the Night” for the first time while standing in line at a fast food restaurant in 1974. It seemed like standard mediocre radio fare. It didn’t seem to be by anyone I knew. Was shocked when I heard it was John Lennon and Elton John. I was happy for Lennon to finally get a solo No. 1 hit, but felt he was pulled along by Elton’s massive popularity at the time. I’ve been an obsessed Lennon fan since 1964. There are any number of his singles that I like better than “Whatever Gets You Through the Night.” Like you said, maybe it’s the horns.

    Loved this video. Over the years, I've completed my Beatles vinyl back when it was cheaper, and Harrison albums, with some interspersed Paul and not much of John expect Shaved Fish. I think I might pick this one up. Quick question. Does Rock n'Roll have the error of accidentally deleting one of the tracks that some have claimed?

      @presstoplay2314  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the visit and for the comment. This box set is excellent and the sound quality is fantastic. Highly recommended. As for the deleted track, I honestly don't know! That's the first I heard of this! Do you mean a track was listed on the album but not pressed on the record? Now you have me curious... The recording of that album was pretty crazy with Phil Spector going nuts in the studio, hijacking the tapes, and Levy stealing the demos and releasing Roots on his own label and then trying to sue Capitol. Quite the history behind that one! LOL

      @@presstoplay2314 Some have reported that on Side A, “Sweet Little Sixteen” appears twice while “You Can’t Catch Me” got accidentally axed off this particular pressing. I'm disappointed that the original negatives were not used for the album covers. If you compare the covers with the earlier released CD box set version which used the original negatives, you will see a tremendous difference. I wish Shaved Fish was included in the set. The records themselves sound great.
    I haven't outgrown my love for Walls and Bridges, it is still my favorite solo Beatles album. "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night" was my introduction to his music. I loved it when I first heard it on the radio. It was the first record I bought, and it was also what started my interest in The Beatles when I was in grade school.

      And I agree - I wish they included Shaved Fish as well.

      Thanks for the visit and for the comment. Good observation! I think they reproduced the albums to look exactly as they did when they were originally released. I have the first pressings as well, and they also have the Polydor and Geffen labels. That’s my guess.. I'm kind of glad they kept the original labels though. Yoko really cares about John's Legacy. And she has been super careful whenever it comes to reissues and stuff like that. This box set came out in 2010, which was the first reissues ever since the Lennon albums became available on CD. So she is not milking anything from John. Think what you want of Yoko but I am glad she has control over Lennon's music. His albums are in good hands.

      @@presstoplay2314 if it wasnt for Yoko supporting John & John supporting Yoko, the wouldn't have a legacy.. They are soulmates as he said. John wanted a family life & be happy after years of loss for John He missed his father, mother, auntie & Julian which broke his hwart-, John & Yoko had a deep relationship, artisticlaay & musically. which no one wanted to see, Thats not as important as Losing John so young in NYC in 1980, a genius cut off in his prime. . It still breaks my heart. I grew up in NYC & was lucky to see all 4 Beatles in seperate concerts, I saw John Lennon & Yoko outside the poolhall in Riverdale! They came in a long stretch white limo. So cool in white coats,. Then I was lucky to see John & Yoko live with the Elephants Memory at Madison Square Gardens in 1972. Bangala Desh 1971 wuth George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russell & so much more, Paul . I still wonder to this day in the Life of John Lennoni's fatel killing could this have prevented or was it more political what happened too John being killed so young. Was it a set up? I don't like conspiracy theories but sometimes you feel it in your gut.But it is always one lone man in any assasinttiom in usa history.. Thankfully his legacy is in her hands as she keeps his memory alive! 🎼🎶🎸💔
