    Takeaways from this race:
    1) Seems like most of the major players have finally figured out their optimized setups, and the differences today came from the riders themselves
    2) If MotoAmerica plans on continuing to use volunteer track marshals, then additional training and preparation needs to implemented as far as adequate fire extinguisher usage and deployment, and needs to be done quickly.
    3) MotoAmerica's implementation of full WSBK rules and regulations has made the superbike class far more competitive than it has been in recent history.

      @@Showmetheevidence- I've been a MotoAmerica Marshal volunteer before. My point is that I'd recommend MA take some time between this round and next and figure out how to not let what happened this weekend happen today.

      This is a tough call. I saw that BMW wreck like everyone else. It went up quick with a full fuel tank, and we don't know if it was caused by a lithium battery. The accident occured deep in trap, the volunteers just wanted to up and roll out of the way quickly. I'm sure next time one of them will bring the FE with them on the next time out. The second fire was put out quickly. It's early in the season, I'm sure the other tracks are reviewing their systems too.

      @@darthnerdo4291 It was Herrin's winglet. It was missing when he came flying into the T10 chicane. I don't see how Beaubier could have lost the front. I wonder if it was a bit of what the GP bikes suffer from when close at high speed and maybe their bikes got sucked together through the high speed kink. No good camera angle that I've seen nor heard either rider's take on it yet.

  • @jacquescrusan9500
    @jacquescrusan9500 Год назад +1

    One theory I have as far as why Josh Herrin's last lap shenanigans occurred from turn 9 to 10A:
    Herrin cut across the track to the inside of turn 9 at speed to cut off Beaubier as they crested the hill and try to force Beaubier to cross up inside and try a dive move underneath. Since both riders were evenly matched as far as late braking, whoever had the straightest line coming into the chicane would outbreak the other, so Josh's move makes sense.
    The only problem with that move is that throughout the race the BMW was consistently better than the Ducati at putting the power down near max lean angle, so Beaubier shot up underneath Josh and they met side-by-side. Per conventional physics, the impact would only marginally force Beaubier's bike slightly to the right whereas Herrin's bike got shunted left, which did a few things simultaneously:
    1) broke off the right winglet, upsetting the aerodynamic loading on the front end
    2) upset both contact patches and immediately compromised traction at both ends
    3) punted Herrin off-line, causing the tires to pick up rubber balls, and also causing his suspension to oscillate going down the hill, because the braking bumps in the pavement are more severe on the left side of 10A, where most braking passes occur in car racing.
