Yeah, there's a huge difference between Dark Souls hard and IWBTG hard. While Dark Souls' difficulty lies more in the combat and preparing for anything and everything, IWBTG is pretty much just a test in patience to see how many times you can put up with walking down the same linear path just long enough to find the next trap that comes out of nowhere so you can avoid it next time, ad infinitum.
IWBTG is more like a series of odd obstacle courses that seemingly have nothing dangerous in them but the second you step forward a trap comes out of nowhere and kills the player in a comedic way.
Once he finds the grapple hook, I just keep waiting for him to start using it to avoid death, which could have happened several times if he didn't stare at the screen pulling a face every time he missed a jump :P
"AHH YOU BITCH!" I think the quest to get every player ever to scream those words is the guiding principle behind all of Kayin's game design choices :P

I just realized why I like Markiplier more than Pewdiepie, and this is just an opinion so you fanboys leave it be and leave me alone. I like Mark more because of the voice. I'm sure Pewdiepie is funny but his voice is really grating but.Mark even though he can say similar things, the voice is what really nails it here. I have to agree even I have only watch two short videos from Pewdiepie, it´s not the accent because he speaks english really well. He´s not bad but he just doesn´t have that something (hard to explain and good looks just ain´t enough). Many here complain about Mark too and all are title to a opinion, to me he´s more natural, down-to-earth and can make even common things funny. He has good sense of humor and knows how to use words, and of course that voice ;). Overall it´s more fun to watch when the player in actually having fun.

Its not technically 'hard.' It just has a BIG learning curve, knowing enemies movements and attacks will mean you can pretty much parry/dodge all enemies.

Of course you do, I'm simply pointing out that the game over screen isn't as long as Mark lets you think it is, plus there is a massive fan base for it spanning all difficulties. Personally I think there is a IWBTG fan game for everyone. It's mainly the general public making the games (free game creator and engines (which can be used for other things too)) I wasn't trying to take your opinion away, just hoping you would try out the idea before knocking it.
I've recently became a fan of your videos, first of all, your videos are great, real fun to watch. second, I have a few advises about the "I wonna be the guy" games: 1. changing the default key setup is very helpful. I found using the shift button as "shoot" very useful cause then you can also shoot with your right hand 2. on "IWBTG Gaiden" you have a grapling hook, that has 3 modes(with the up and down keys. also you can charge a shot like mega man. 3. never trust the game. it will kill you :D
i love these sort of games (hard platformers) i actually went ahead and downloaded it for myself, yes i am aware this is 5 years old by now but it's great

I was a heavily armored knight with lots of stamina, vitality, strength and faith (as far as I remember) and I could just soak up their attacks by simply blocking. You probably used dodging more, which is also cool! Especially with the flipping ring :D
I remember beating the original game a couple years ago, and I can totally relate to Markiplier here. The thing concerning both this game and the original are the traps. Being paranoid pays a lot here. You're going to die a lot, but once you beat the game, the second run is much, much easier, because you have learned where every single trap is and how everything works. You might forget a few while in the middle of a frustration fit. But, in the end, the game is doable, if it's true that it takes a long time. Damn, by the time I beat the game, my death counter went to around 2500. Timing is crucial in the games; you have to know what you're going to go through, which you learn by dying. The game, at least the original one, didn't even have difficulty scaling when it came to harder/more monsters; instead, the harder the difficulty setting, the less save points there were, with the "Impossible" setting meaning there were no save points, so you had to beat the game in one sitting, and I refused to even try anything beyond Hard, even after beating the game. I really need to give this one a try, just to see if it holds up to the predecessor.
