You guys should consider building a davit for the dinghy so you can hang it behind the boat on the stern. That way you have a clear view from the helm station without having to put Roberta spread open on top of the benches!! Great video...really enjoyed it 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
Duca and Roberta, as I was watching this video and watching Odd cutting threw the water, it just warmed my heart to see all of your hard work and planning coming together to create your journey and dream of a life time. I wish you both all the love and kindness that this world has to offer. Until next week have fun and May God bless you both.
Another thing you learned is just because you are a mechanic doesn't mean he knows everything about your boat, you know more about your boat than your mechanic . So always do what you know to be right. Next time wait until the mechanic leaves the boat then you always double check your own stuff. I am a mechanic and I know to check my own things. Lesson learned.
You both are going from boat repairers/builders to sailors! I see the transformation every week. Listen to mother nature, she will tell you a lot if you look and listen! Odd is a beautiful yacht underway. Appears to have a gentile motion. Sail on!
Your sea trails are interesting and important to your skill set. These lessons will keep you safe once on the high seas. Us viewers sure enjoy your videos. Love you guys!
Think of it as "Auto-pilot appreciation training". Its always good to know the boat just in case there are issues with the auto-pilot while at sea. LOVE your positive, can-do attitude!!
Thank you for another great episode of your life's journey. You're living a life some of us only dream about. Thank you for having me/us "aboard." I'm sure I speak for all of your youtube crew.......we love you!❤️
Love to see your sailing adventures , it is not always plain sailing , out on the ocean things can change quickly and you need to know what actions to take in those moments. well done with the correct diagnosis for the overheating problem. 😊
Your cooling system needs an easy modification: buy or have made a stainless steel tank with fittings on the bottom for two cooling hoses and a radiator cap on top. Mount it higher than the heat exchanger. Attach one hose from the engine to it and the other to the heat exchanger. This way air bubbles will work their way to the top of the system and also it is safe to remove the cap when the engine is hot. This is how my boat is set up.
Fantastic 👏 I'm super excited to see you guys beginning to make sail travel content after putting so much work into yout beautiful boat. The first miles of thousands to come!
I am sure Reginaldo will most certainly appreciate the assist... Very kind and considerate of you both to ask Xantrex if you could give the year old model to him... God Bless You both and God Bless you too Reginaldo... Godspeed all...
I am so proud of you guys. Your skills are amazing. Odd looks so good at sea and so capable of anything mother nature throughs against you. Can not wait for further adventures.
Hi Team, From locked down Auckland, Aotearoa! So wonderful to see you guys out on the water and living aboard! Also great to see the engine problem resolved and good on you Duca for the right diagnosis! We hope to get our boat back on the water soon with a new paint job and anti foul and a new name after my wife, Queenie (nick name) Keep this e episodes coming!
You’re truly the most effervescent (sparkling, energetic, delightful) couple I follow. I take delight in your interactions, Duca’s elaborate explanations, and Roberta’s adoring eyes and smile. I’m also impressed with your thoughtful approach to this trip-prudence is a sailor’s guardian.
Hi Guys, When you get your autopilot you can set it to 0 degrees by 'wind angle' so it will hold into the wind to raise your mainsail. This is the best way instead of setting a course to where the wind is coming from as it changes. André in Sydney (I did see you in Sydney)
It doesn't matter if new or old, you still have issues doesn't matter at all...!! It's just how it is when your breaking in your engine, an your newly refitted sailing vessel... It's just a stunning sail boat so enjoying this episode.... Congrats guys really proud of the time an effort you both put in on your new floating home. Thanks for sharing your lives with us!! I am grateful to be able to watch ✌🏻💗☺️❣️
Roberta , I love your piloting stance . It reminds me of my football years in Texas . My coach would say , "Get a good wide stance , lean into it and focus , then react. " I see your confidence , it is inspiring .
looks like all of your hard work has paid off very well...she looks gorgeous, fast, and comfortable...the best part is that you know her inside and out...i know first hand that having confidence in your boat makes a passage more enjoyable...will be following your new adventure... great job guys!
My engine had same the hot tank was above the engine coolant filler. What you must do is add a filler bottler ABOVE the hot tank. Yanmah will have a kit that you can get to do this. I would strongly suggest you do this it is safe and good practice. I am surprised your engineer did not fit this
Your last comment was so true - everyone should learn something new everyday no matter how small. I am 76 years old and still welcome learning something new (nowadays usually from someone a fraction of my age - but who cares)
I love you guys! Tihis is a comment on an old video so probably you won’t even see it but anyway here I am :) Your everyday joy of being together is a pleasure to be a part of! I’m watching your video almost a year after you posted it so I’m sure are by now way more comfurtable while sailing! So, keep it up! You guys are my midlife crisis reliefe LOL!! I really enjoy watching you
Pan De Caio! I found this Brazilian treat a few years ago, it's awesome! The hat game on Odd is going very high too. For 2 years I've watched your project videos with pleasure. It is great now to see the live aboard and sailing videos of you two, Odd and Kelly. Enjoy.
Besides viewers suggestions for safety wiring shackle pins, I wondered it the bar used to crank the anchor winch should also have a rope attached that could keep it from going overboard on a rough day. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
If nobody saw that : this is the first time that we see Odd at the anchor from the cost, on the sea !!! Vlog begin to change now, more time under sailing than to made installation : this is a very good indicator of the turn your adventure is going to ! Always a pleasure to follow you
A great lesson learned and shared too! I would think about stowing the dinghy upside down so no water gets in it. As well as stowing it on the front bow area or behind you on the back deck. Either way it would give Roberta an easier view while at the helm! All the best Richard
it's soo good to see that when something go bad you know what it is thats because you rebuilt your boat and you know each system and now you are learning again each system and how it should workk.. great job
Wahey, and they’re off. Looking forward to joining you on all your adventures. Somehow I think they’re going to be awesome. You do though need to find somewhere else to stow that dinghy. Clear unobstructed vision is absolutely essential whilst on passage, even when seated. I’m not sure Roberta standing on her tippy toes straddling the cockpit is conducive to staying alert on long nighttime watches. Remember, objects in the water want to be hit. They even have magnets on them to attract themselves to you (or it sometimes feels that way). You need to be able to see clear ahead. B.
Nothing like tipping a $200 bottle of whiskey into a stew LOL! So good to see you guys on the water, long time coming and now enjoying the life people dream of! Much love from Australia, thumbs up
Roberta, we are definitely noticing an increased confidence in your mastery of the English language since you first started on your channel. You are really getting good! I am still trying to make the transition with you going from full time DIYers prepping the boat, to SAILORS! Duca, since your father moved, what has happened to your shipping container home?
Love love hoe positive you stay under all conditions!!! And......as a sailing-instructor I can only give you many High Fives for putting safety first!!! Please keep on doing that. Love from the netherlands
Outstanding! A nice video of a shake down sail. Very good problem solving methodology. It’s nice to see your smiles while underway! I’m looking forward to following your equipment and electrical upgrades going forward. Very nice practical experience being gained.
Hi guys, Its really interesting to hear your comments regarding the requirement to monitor the conditions. So many decisions are based on current and predicted conditions, its the great challenge of boating. I respect you consider all your decisions based on safety, things can change very quickly and safety can be compromised. People often think of sailing as relaxing and even romantic but as we know it can at times be hard work and keep you on your toes, their are so many things to think about but the most important thing to remember is to have fun and enjoy. it is so wonderful to see everything you both did to Odd looks so great. The Galli looks great. It's great how B and G take care of you. I bet it's so much fun to finally enjoy all your work over the past 2 years. Enjoy and be safe. Every time i use the word Finally I will hear Roberta in my ears saying that word.
I love you guys! Just the everyday joy of being together with “someone you love” is a pleasure to be a part of! I did get a laugh out of the Johnny Walker rare aged whiskey being used to cook, but truly it was just a wonderful part of you FINALLY getting to use your boat and living aboard. GO ODD!
Hi, just to let you know Scotch Whiskey only ages when it’s in the barrel. Once bottled it will also be 12 years or whatever the length of time it’s been in the barrel. Loving your videos, I watch sailing Yaba on a Sunday and you guys on a Monday. A great start to the week.
@@neondemon5137 Johnnie Walker is and always was a blended Whiskey and I think it is one of the most popular Whiskeys ever. I Like the way you are explaining the different uses of the sails. Please add a little information on your adjustable keel. And how it helps perform on a steel boat.
I'm glad you could figure out what was wrong with Kelly. Now you've got me calling your engine Kelly. LOL I wish I was in a position to do what you're doing (only with a Catamaran), but time and age has conspired against me. So, believe me when I say that I am happy watching your channel and how you've brought Odd so far in the last two years. It is a wonderful sailing yacht, and a testament to your work.
Use safety wire on your shackles, like when you started using 2 clamps on your hoses. If looking around at items while on your “shakedown” cruise and think: if this fails, what happens. You guys have done such a Marvelous job on the boat and all of it’s systems!!! I think of all of the double check ing and some cases triple check items that are mission critical. This is interesting.. I had a chance to learn to sail in the late 70's in San Francisco but turned it down.. my mistake.. So I have no idea what it really takes to live aboard a sail boat and you are "teaching" me what it takes.. I like it! thanks guys.. stay safe.
So much high tech stuff, so much fun in such a sort time. Yes when you add the other electronics add the heavier wire for the inverter/charger. I can no longer turn myself into a pretzel in tight places, got long arms but to stiff in the joints to do that kind of work.

You are awesome. I'm waiting for more videos from your travels. Feet of water under the keel and a lot of luck. You have endured the renovation, I am calm about you :)
Cooking with whiskey, a lady after my own heart.👍👍👍😎

There is nothing that cannot be remedied with enough time and money.
Agree with Scott -- you all are just terrific -- with obvious love and care - doing a great job in life

Well done guys. I thought once you moved into sailing my interest in Odd would waiver. But I'm just as interested now as I was 196 episodes ago. 👌
We learn so much from this nice couple.
I have no suggestions or warnings so I will just say thanks for taking us along on this journey.
☺️ thanks for the support

Good that everything is working well.
Job well done and better safe then sorry . And great practice with the tacking exercise .⚓️⛵️
Just a reminder: on all cooling systems, it's a better to use Distilled water.
Love the way you problem solve as a team! Fair Winds from Boston

Love how you guys are settling right into live aboard life! Two years of hard work has begun to pay off and you two deserve it!!
Glad you solved the hot engine issue.
The culmination of 2+ years of hard work: “We are going to follow the wind”, very appropriate Duca.
