I like to get my knitting and sit and watch your latest podcast, invariably I find I have a big smile on my face. Love your conversations. Betsy I knit my 1x1 rib the same way as you, the purls wrapped clockwise. It’s not twisting the rib because on the next row the knit stitches are knit through the back leg, that straightens it out. I would love to see how you knit your stranded knitting flat. I am also a thrower or English knitter. I can knit two handed stranded on the public side doing a continental Norwegian knit stitch but I can’t do a Norwegian purl so end up using my right hand English knitting for the purls. I really find it cumbersome and I am not that happy with my tension. Your tension on that square you made for the throw you and Simone are designing looked perfect. Would love to hear a bit more about that . Cheers!
I live in Toledo, OH. We are at the western tip of Lake Erie. The wind was so strong recently, that it pushed the water away from Toledo to the eastern part of the lake, which would be Buffalo, NY. I don't know what happened in Buffalo, but we saw the lake bed on our end.
Sunsets were beautiful. I spent several vacations at Cabot beach provincial park. Sunsets were always spectacular. PEI has a special place in my heart.
Betsy you are probably doing combination knitting for regular 1x1 ribbing. Combination is different than twisted stitches, because usually you purl through the back loop but since you wrap your yarn clockwise as you purl, the stitch is mounted with the right leg in the back. For twisted stitches ribbing, you simply knit the knit stitches through the back loop and you can still do combination knitting, usually it makes a tighter fabric if you also purl through the back loop, it is a bit less stretchy. Great sunsets !!!
I always knitted twisted stitches and could never understand why my knitting never looked like someone else’s….ahaaa ha..I had no idea what I was doing when I started knitting. Those sunsets would make a lovely colour way for yarn. The sunset point prim addition perhaps?
I love the chat about the weather. I live in the north of New Zealand and summer has just arrived as well. 25-30 degrees C and 80%+ humidity. We really are becoming tropical. One difference this year is that we are having lots of rain. It’s too hot to knit.
I'm just pausing the video...when Betsy talks about winding the wool around the needle clockwise on the purl sts in ribbing...I believe it may be called combination knitting. I do most of my ribbing this way now, I love it. It does twist the stitch, and you will end up purling through the back loop on subsequent rows...but it's really not a big deal, and starts to feel natural.
Just love to see the interaction between you three. Great knits. I’d say great spinning but I hope never to know enough about spinning to tell. I don’t need another hobby. LOL. Thanks for all the work you do to have an engaging and informative podcast. Deborah from Florida
I can support your comment on ChiaGoo Kim. I have the Forte original set and did have a problem with the twist wires and a broken needle. They replaced the needles and when they knew I didn’t like the twist wires they sent me a complete set of the red wires. Within a week ! Definitely a fan and the set is beautiful.
I love top down sweater patterns. But I always divide for sleeves where ot suits me and then let the motifs keep going on the body and sleeves separated. It works very well and I get a sweater adjusted to my body.
If you knit rib normally then turn it inside out, you have twisted rib. i.e if you look at the reverse side of normal rib knitting, its twisted rib. Its good the Chia Goo have 3.25mm. That size is being phased out by a lot of needle manufacturers.
Look at the beautiful sheep give thanks to them for the wool bless them all. Love your happy video. I am from England we got cold weather and wind on its way and we have had some sunny days and rain.
OMG! 😅 Y'all r too much. Tell Simone she is ruining the grade curve, A+😊. Betsy is catching up and I empathize with her. She's asking great questions. Ones that I would ask a "senior knitter".😊 Kim I'm 🙏 for u.😅 I really like the variety of knitters on ur pod. I also like they r there for most of the pod. Kim, u r doing a great job. U r surrounded with talent and that's a blessing (sometimes a curse). Thanks for sharing. Thanks for sharing.
Love all the projects. I never miss an episode. I think I was unsubscribed 😮. I have followed you for the very first time you did a podcast. Question. Is there anyway to follow each of you individually. I love the spinning segments as a new spinner myself I would love to get some links and information to purchase products mentioned by not in your store. Keep up your creations to inspire us. You guys are great together. 🧶🇨🇦
I enjoy your podcast so much. It's fun seeing what you talented ladies are working on. You inspire me! Sunsets are beautiful. Thanks so much and have a great week.
I love watching your Podcast! amazing talent and inspiring. If you should ever kit up the yarn for the RIOUX shawl, i would absolutely love to make it. I downloaded the patterns for blanket of the year so as soon as I finish my husbands birthday sweater I will be making the squares. thank you for this year long project.
Betsy, a friend of mine had very good luck translating a Norwegian knitting pattern with Google Translate. The secret, she found, was to paste a whole swath of text in at one time, rather than a word or a sentence at a time. Context tends to increase its accuracy, apparently. Maybe that will help a bit?
I have been watching for a few years and I so look forward to Fridays. I love the format with the three of you, the energy and interaction is fantastic. Looking forward to the next episode.
Simone, your work is just so amazing.!! that Shawl is just stunning and I absolutely love the socks....and thank you all for a great episode....love seeing the farm.
Betsy, Translate doesn't speak Norwegian crochet, either. Ask me know I know. hahaha Kim, for the little 9" needles, I've noticed that I knit a whole lot tighter on them than I would if I were using a larger needle, 2 circs, magic loop or dpns. I mean significantly smaller gauge. 2 needles sizes or more. 😬 I'm sure you know this, but before you get too far, make sure your sleeve gauge will match the body. Grins!
I just got two kittens a brother and a sister, and since you had warned me about M and yarn I donated some fuzzy red yarn. And Grayson carries it in his mouth all over the house.
Magnificent sunsets!!! Thank you. A timely episode! I'm about to invest in the Chaigoo Shortie 0-2, 2" and 3" set at my LYS and it was great to see them on the sleeve cuff. I loved all of your UFOs, finished projects, and spinning Batts. Love the Acadia blue!! ...and other blue colorways. It is clear this blanket will be a stunner. Watching is always like soaking in a bath of creativity!!!😊
After hours of analyzing Jamieson's Spindrift colors to see about substitutions for a Marie Wallin pattern, I turn on the podcast, and what should Simone be wearing but the very same sweater! I was so tickled I had to comment even before I watched the episode, which I have no doubt will be as inspiring as ever. Agree with the person who commented on the energy of the three of you and format of the show. It must take a ton of work, so sincere thanks to you all!
I always look forward to watching these episodes and this one was as delightful as all of the others :). I can't wait to see more of the afghan squares... and WOW what a lot of projects you all shared today! Great sunset scenes :). YEA for summer coming.. I'll even take spring LOL.. anything but winter!
The purl stitch wrapped the other way is in Patty Lyons book. It works well with ribbing, when purl stitches follow cables and in lace. It’s how a purl is formed in combination knitting. That book is such a good resource.
Loved this episode! I was giggling in places. Your chestnut cardigan is beautiful Simone. And your miss matched socks are pretty. You never could wear matching socks! lol! Mom always had things "just for good" and I do the same thing. Betsy, your hat and mitts are beautiful! I was telling Simone the other day that those colors and pattern would make a beautiful cardigan. I wish we had the snow we had when I was a kid. We don't get any snow now compaired to what we got back then.
I love all the projects so cool. I'm knitting my second Night Shift in sport weight, shop bought yarn, but am spinning for the hand spun version hopefully this year or surely next year. It is a much loved shawl for me, perfect in my Australian winter, not too big and heavy. I just keep knitting the pattern until its the size I want. Such absolutely beautiful skies.
"In a tree, on a branch, in a hole." 🤣 Is Betsy's cardigan from a pattern? It wasn't included in what everyone was wearing (I'm on the hunt for cardigan patterns right now). I can vouch for ChiaoGoo's customer service. I had an interchangeable needle that wouldn't screw into the cord properly, and they replaced the one bad needle with a pair of new ones, very promptly.
Love your podcast! I live south of Nashville and happy to have a nashvillian doing a podcast. My sister and I love to knit sweaters and it’s hard finding other sweater knitters!
Great episode Ladies...and Ken. Betsy, I learned purling left to right when i first started knitting 17 yrs ago when i couldn't get my ribbing tight enough. This little trick ( throwing yarn over needle left to right instead of throwing it right to left over needle)made my ribbing so much nicer looking. Didnt know there was a name for it😊Now i do Norwegian purling which has been a game changer when doing ribbing. So much faster.🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Kim: I would love the new Forte needle set by Chiagoo but they don’t come in 4” tips do they? I have lots of their other needles but the 5” aren’t as great for me as the 4”. If you get an inkling they will be making the other size, let us know! Thanks! Ann
The three of you are a great team, but now someone told me that Simone used to be on another podcast. If this is right, can we still watch it and what was it called?
She was on a podcast called the The Worst(ed) Fibre Podcast when the Belfast Mini Mills shop was still open and before she joined Fleece and Harmony. I don't think those old episodes are still available to watch.
Thanks for a beautiful “ harmony”, Ken!💕
Hello from my new home in Swansea, Illinois. Now comes the hard part of unpacking and putting everything away.
The chestnut is just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing it. #goals
Love your podcast & all you’re teaching me about knitting & yarn.

Love the Orbits: a beautiful fit! Have made a sweater with Mondim and it does soften up: a beautiful, reasonably priced yarn.

We do make a kit for Rioux. Yiu can find it on our website. Just put Rioux in the search. It's a stunning project.
That's called a Russian Purl, Betsy: use it all the time: love it!
Thanks I do enjoy listening to all of you and get inspired.thank you for beautiful sunset pics. Would enjoy sunrise as well .

Hi, I was unable to download February’s block already got January and thank you girls it’s always so informative
The February block will be released on Feb 2. The blocks are only revealed in the first podcast of each month. Love the enthusiasm though!

Love your podcast. The three of you are wonderful to watch. Very interesting topics. Keep up the great work.
You guys are so fun to watch! Your projects are inspirational & Ken’s sunsets made my day🥰
I'm always so inspired by your projects. My knitting wish list grows every time I watch :D Loving the new format with the three of you together.

Sorry. My cardigan is a store bought one. There is no pattern to go with it.
Love your podcast! I live south of Nashville and happy to have a nashvillian doing a podcast. My sister and I love to knit sweaters and it’s hard finding other sweater knitters!
Who is the Nashvillian?
Beautiful knits Ladies!! I have never tried spinning and I don't think I'll try but your finished yarn is beautiful.
Thank you Ken! Breathtaking.

Interesting, fun and spectacular sunsets!!!!
Thank you again girls just lovely
Merci 🎉
Thanks everyone for a great episode.
I vividly remember the winter of 2015 here in Nova Scotia. Hopefully we are not on repeat.
Simone’s bressy is gorgeous
It is!
It's not smiles and frowns--- it's trees and valleys, I like top down knitting with trees.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😄
I love the top downs but dislike the wide necks and the sleeve transition.
Kim: I would love the new Forte needle set by Chiagoo but they don’t come in 4” tips do they? I have lots of their other needles but the 5” aren’t as great for me as the 4”. If you get an inkling they will be making the other size, let us know! Thanks! Ann

Are there a pattern for that cream color Cardigan?
Can you share please where you get your bobbins? Do you carry it? Looking for both plastic/wooden in that size or smaller. Thank you so much.
What cardigan is Betsy wearing
It is not hand made. It does look cozy though, doesn't it?
@@FleeceHarmonyPodcast too bad! It would be alovely knit
