Most important thing has been forgotten - tubeless tyres! Aprilia did its homework very well.
I tried this bike few months ago, great handling on and off road, feels very light. Suspension reacts to clickers very good, you can dial it to change from comfy to sporty very easily. It has quite low center of gravity for such a tall bike, Aprilia supposedly moved the tank below the saddle and air filter on top of the fuel tank. Great engineering and great for filter maintenance. Engine has enough grunt for this class, it rev's very high and that sound is just great. At slow speed it feels so easy and agile, turning circle is very small. Taking into account Aprilia included cruise control, Brembo brakes and premium fully adjustable suspension (contrary to Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha on TA, Strom 800 or T7) for me it is clear Aprilia is going all out on this bike, trying to sell some good numbers and shake off "reliability ghosts" with arguably best bike in the class. Also, they do not need to protect sales of higher spec'd adventure model like Honda, because they haven't got any. If Tuareg is reliable enough, it will soon get a cult following in my humble opinion.
According to a report, they'd registered just 42 up until September, including demonstrators from dealers...Yamaha have sold over 2000 Teneres to the same date...initial bad press on the 660 motors is obviously having an effect? Doesn't put me off, but it makes it long term purchase, if the dealers have dropped the price by £1800 to try and shift them
@@williamrae9954 I was very much impressed with the bike, but will not buy before I see feedback from the market for at least 1 year. If it was made by any of Japanese 4, it would have been easier decision.
@@djordje9795 I would have bought one, I did the arithmetic on my Tracer7, on fitting wire spoke 19/17" wheels an upgrading the suspension, at £8800 for the Aprilia, it wasn't worth while spending the money on the Yamaha (have never wanted a T7,for various reasons), just the dealer didn't like cash, or was just too lazy to message me back? Things have changed in the last 6 weeks, got the overland bike problem solved, probably going to buy a Honda Rebel 1100T DCT instead, as a touring bike(i have an idea how to address the small fuel capacity, 13.6litres).
3000miles in… love mine. It’s got lots of character, and ironically its a dream in the twisties considering its ~adv/dual sports-oriented.
Nice one Rob. This was the bike that surprised me most last year. I liked it much more than I thought I would. Congrats on 250k subs too
I love it, right size, enough tech & CRUISE!; something other manufacturers are skipping or making optional (ie, cost). Dealer network is growing so it's a good choice for those not needing 1000cc/500lb+ beasts.
Just bought the same bike! Now just have to wait a few months for winter to F*@# off
I’m about to roll, 10,000 miles on my Tuareg and so far I love the bike. I think the tubeless wheels are a big plus, especially if you plan to tour with it like I do. I also like how the aux lights and heated grips integrate into the bike’s electronics package.
I haven't gotten any auxiliary lights for this but I intend on doing touring with mine as well. I opted to go with the koso Apollo grips they were about $80 cheaper and they are a standalone unit with an integrated button so it's kind of like driver modes a simple press if its own button and I get what I want LOL
@@turbolag5107 I have those same grips on my 450 RL and they work great. I’ve heard on the 660 you might have to shave the throttle tube a bit to get them to work.
@@zyonsdream can confirm lol. Lots of sanding. I told some 160 (I think) grit sand paper meant for a belt sander and cut it so it's just a long strip and shined the shoe as evenly as I could around it and then took some 300 grit to smooth it out and did a LOT of pushing. It's been over a month and I can still see a slight discoloration in the palm of my hand from pushing lol. They are on so tight that I didn't even need the glue lol. If you're on the Facebook page you may have seen my post about it.
And how is it so far? Any issues?
Have you gone 2up on this bike and if so, how much power did you feel you lost?
When the MT-07 and Africa Twin came out I liked the different cadence of the 270° crank, but now that all the new twins have one it's nothing new, and the 180° cranks sound just as good.
I love the Tuareg. I own a T7 and the Tuareg feels 20kg lighter, at least!
I think this is the best middleweight. Just a lot of bang for the buck. Honda should have taken note.
Not with these issues. Honda aren’t sweating..

That cruise control is my deciding factor over TransAlps and VStrom 800
I was waiting for honda and Suzuki. This is my next bike. It's so freaking cool.
cruise control? I'm sold!
Great bike. Had an extended ride on the weekend - 90%. Only two significant issues or concerns, and the first issue applied to 4 other bikes too - hot restart... The bikes really struggled with restarting after a short (
It was a toss up between this bike or the Tiger 850 sport. Close call but went Triumph, same price bit heavier but a more flexible and powerful motor. If I did more off road I think I would have opted for this little beauty. We’re really spoiled for choice nowadays!
They look cool but Italian electronics scare me, also not nearly as many dealers and Yamaha. I would go T7 ALLLLLLL day! 👊🏼✊🏼
I've been looking for the right mid-size ADV bike for BDR type rides here in the States... The Tuareg has ticked all the boxes, I'm adding one in the spring.
Aprilia dealers in uk always struggled to get parts and when you consider off-road uses makes me wonder if this is sane option for adventure purposes.
awesome machine mate :)
I really like this bike and it is pole position as a potential upgrade bike for me.
I'm a big Italian bike fan, but the reliability factor/ dealer network has been a bit 🤏 of a concern.
Although Aprilia has hopefully resolved the reliability conundrum, the dealer network in the States is scattered at best. I'd have to put my $$$$ on the new Suzuki 800DE 🤷♂️.
It is what it is.
Cheers 🍻 , G.
At $21000 Aussie dollars the Tuareg is more expensive than the BMW 850 GS with 95 HP for $19725 with a wet weight of 223KG. The GS 750 is 3HP down on the Aprilia but has 13 more NM of torque for $15750 Aussie. All these prices are for the basic models and are ride away prices with all taxes, registration for a year and dealer delivery included in the price. If I bought the 750 gs I could purchase the BMW luggage and still have money left over compared to the Aprilia. I own a BMW F800st and already love the Parallel twin and yes I'm a little biased, but bang for my hard earned buck it would obviously be the 750GS for me.
True, wish they bring down the price to atleast match the Yamaha & have a real go at the Lams market
Awesome & Thanks :)
nice review! i'd be leaning toward transalp due to dealer network being much more accessible in the states . closest aprilla dealer is 3 hour drive honda? 6 miles lol
Dude, you put your head on upside this morning!
It’s just not many other companies are doing bikes like this, middle weight with interesting engine and reasonable power, full tech packages for comfort like cruise control, other companies don’t put in all these features just to save production cost and sell your their bigger bikes if you want all the features, clearly 80% people don’t need big liter bikes with north of 150hp, but for the most part, you want the features you need to buy those bikes, and the 660 lineup kinda changes that a bit
Did a comparison in Spring between the Taureg & Tuono 660. I preferred the Tuono 4 what i need it for . Btw, i'm getting under 4.4L/100km .... Looking forward to see a comparison otr of the new kids on the block, Susi & Transa with T7 & Tuareg
Spoke to a few mostly offroad riders. Apparently they don't use cruise control that often offroad. Not a deal breaker unless you're sticking to tarmac I guess. Overall a neat package.
The cruise control doesn’t work well or at all at low speed, so naturally you don’t use it much, but then again it’s just a feature to get you through those highway mails, if you don’t do those why not get a dualsport bike
Ha ha why would you use cruise control off road 😁
why would you use CC on trail lol
THE CC needed is when you are hauling home via interstate from Offroad day/weekend. This is ADV bike, it gets atleast half the mileage on tarmac
Nice bike, nice glasses 😄
All the aprillia bikes are beautiful, so far Infront of everything else...
Journalists often love Aprilias but ownership experience is key. Anyone remember the fantastic Mille 1000 so long as you were prepared to bleed the clutch every 100 miles. I even had a multi franchise dealer talk me out of a Caponoord because they couldn't get spares etc. Elephant in the room....
Watch these owners.

ruclips.net/video/_upKGynKqpo/видео.html
I ran an 08 999 Tuono for 25k miles from commuting to Alps trips without a problem. The clutch bleed issue was sorted in the last twin model 08 onwards. They just moved the position of the reservoir slightly.
What will be the preference between Tuareg and Norden? You rode them both…. Thanks
Hi decent review, im currently weighing up options for the next bike, how did you find the height? I’m 5’8 30 inseam?
Hey great video @MotoBob! I plan on picking up a Martian Red Tuareg in 2023 spring! Curious on what you're adventure riding gear setup is? What kind of riding boots are those? Cheers.
It's all Revit stuff which they just supplied with me - can't comment on how good it is as I've yet to do some serious mileage, but initial impressions are good.
The local Aprilia dealership closed a number of years ago in my city of 800k.
Only 20 Aprilia dealers left in Canada, and 15 of those are just in Southern Quebec and Ontario. Closest one to me now is about 1400kms away. Nice bikes, but Piaggio isn't really interested in the market here.
Just about every little town has a Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and/or Honda dealer.
I'm not surprised, for a decade or even 15 years Piaggio did not invest in MG and Aprilia. But more recently, since the introduction of the V85TT and the RS660 the situation changed, sales of both brands are going well, R&D created several nice bikes and worked a lot on reliability. Now with the resources generated by the sales I believe the company will invest in dealership too where it needs to be done. But it may take some more time. I can't think they could develop and present a stunning bike like the V100 Mandello without being seriously interested in improvement of the dealership in important markets like your👋
@@ilmatanela1816 I hope so. They have interesting models and get decent reviews.
It's funny that you've mentioned Moto Guzzi. The local MG dealer is still hanging in while the Aprilia dealer packed it in. I would have thought the opposite would have happened. I guess it helps to be quirky.
The Mandello is a very interesting bike. I hope it does well for them. I'm interested myself.
@@SirOsisofLiver just yesterday I sold my 9 years old Crosstourer. It served me really well, with the reliability you can expect from a Honda. But I never felt it MY bike, never fell in love with it. I am now looking for something more engaging, nimble and with more character. I bought the Honda Crosstourer because I was living abroad, in Turkey, and there was no good Ducati dealership, only an importer. Multistrada was in my mind at the time but I went with the Honda because of of the good network . So I know what you mean. But now back in Italy I'll go for a Guzzi. They will present several models based on the engine of the V100 I'll wait some time and see how they will be and, as you said, how they will perform. There have been huge investments in that platform, in terms of performance and reliability too. I read an interview of Colaninno last year and he spoke of big investments in the dealership network around the world. MV Augusta, based in my hometown Varese, is also doing really well, beautiful bikes. They just signed a partnership with KTM, from next year MV will take advantage of the global network of the Austrian brand and this is potentially a game changer for the future. Ducati in 2022 will perform the best sales ever in its history. So, in these troubled times it seems (crossing fingers) our motorcycles manufacturers finally woke up and are going well.
Hey Bob you are always Excellent 👋. I would like to suggest you , Is it possible to put some user experience on Aprillia tourag 660? Specifically, spare parts, service intervals, Service Network through out the world and custom settings... etc., thanks
Reliability issues.. from people who are riding it..

Those tubeless wheels are a worry to me as the rim sticks out a fair amount, they would be ripped to bits on the rocky trails around here.
I was talking to a local dealer recently and they said they can’t sell them! It looks a great bike maybe even better than a T7 but I just can’t seem to trust its reliability?
Nice bike. However, is there a dealer network in the UK, for Aprilia? If so, how many dealers exist in the UK?
100HP out of a 660cc NA is awesome. WOW Italians know how to do it. 80HP with TQ greater and at 2k lower RPM is awesome.
Shame about the breaking con rods though
@@JohnSmith-ef8nr initial batch...fine now...contractor never heat treated them, probably something to do with being short staffed because of Covid...just look at Yamaha, think I've to only Tracer7 in Scotland, the French Tenere factory have staffing and parts supply problems, so they're concentrating on the Teneres instead...bigger profit margin!
Super beauty
I love it But i have a Suzuki already and i know how much i prefer reliability instead power or whatever
Btw what a intake noise..oike after market.. perfect
Uk dealers selling them at £8750 new. Why? Is there a problem? I do want to buy one!
IMO the weight is still quite a bit high for offroad use... IMO all the "middleweight" ADV bikes are still overweight for offroad ADV use... BUT if you need to have one bike that does it all then the Tuono is the bike I'd take today.
Get a 701 or a 690 and chuck a rally kit on it still probably better equipped than the t7 😂
What about its tenth and most important feature, which although by no means unique to the Tuareg is still worth serious consideration? Boy can it handle some Gush!!
Nice bike , reliability to be determined though,,,,,,T7 still the way to go IMO

I wish you would (at least put text on the screen like every other channel does) put metric to standard conversion. I'm trying to watch/listen to you but have to non stop pause and grab my phone to figure out conversions...
Id buy one in a second if Aprilia had a better dealer network here in Canada..My closest dealer is 800km away..
I’m sorry but the Insta 360 gives a too distorted image for my liking - much too wide angle. I know it has many good features but just looks awful especially the overhead and rear view. Plus the picture has a tendency to wobble due to the “selfy stitch I guess. It’s not too bad if you use the features sparingly like some vlogers have managed to do but it’s too tempting for some to try them all out so it detracts from the video.
I'm not a fan of the image on other channels too, gives an odd perspex of lean and angles as well as the constant bobbling about and wobble as you mention
In the UK these are 9K new, less than a new base T7 because dealers can't shift them.
And going down...£8800 advertised now, 8.5 should secure you one...Wheels Peterborough must be kicking themselves, I tried to buy one 6 weeks ago, didn't even bother responding after the 2nd message... poor sales service, never mind back up!
Thanks for the information
Another EXCELLENT contribution form your Camera(man?) eh eh eh
Enjoy my friend! Superb work, as always...
PS - I'm currently coin flipping to decide if I'm going to get a TUAREG or a NORDEN until Spring 2023
- I'm moving forward on my current Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC specially because of its' top-heavy weight when going off-road ... so both these contenders ( slimmer & lighter / with lower center of gravity & mass, respectively) appeal to me
- so, I'm looking forward to know what you think about this "dilema" in your comments below. LOL
Cheers, and hugs from PORTUGAL
>
Oof I think I'd have to pick the Norden out of the 2 just for the extra power - it's a lot of fun :) Tuareg is great though if you're happy with 80hp
@@motobob To be considered 👍🏼
Looks wise, I don’t like the NORDEN’s white “Horses’ front legs’ leggings”, so graphite grey I’d paint them; and a raised front mudguard would be mandatory as well...
This GORM-MOTO guy got it right: 🤩✊🏼✌🏼

not the same weight and price … Aprilia is "lower" in both case and better off road capacity for Tuareg.
Nice
Piaggio owns Vespa, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, and others. 7 large factories across the globe even one in USA. They even manufacturers light vehicles outside motorcycles and scooters. Aprilia is an outstanding motorcycle brand especially this Tuono. A lot of exclusive bike for the money. Not on every corner like Honda, Yamaha, and Harley.
Tuareg I mean
🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🎉🎉🎉🎉
How many people actually take these ADV bikes off-road? A few. So….how about an alloy wheel option?
Lots. I hammer the shit out of my KTM 1290 Super Adventure R off road. So much so I've bottomed the rear shock so hard it's mushroomed 🍄 the shock body. Cast wheels would shatter. Buy a V Strom if that is your flavour. Leave the proper ADV bikes with spoked wheels please.
So, for a T7 to compete:
Acerbis tank, £265
McCruise, $1200Aus
Bart Factory tubeless,?
Seat Concepts, $275USD
Taureg starts looking like a bargain at £8800?
Heads up. I went to test drive one at a large dealership in Scottsdale Arizona. We'll the battery was dead. They charged it overnight. Went to start it and it was dead. Turns out it is a $650 USD Lithium battery that they let completely drain so it's no good. Turns out Allll of their Aprilias are DEAD. I'm sure they will be passing that cost to the consumer. Not sure why the manufacturer didn't warn the dealership. Wonder if this has happened to other dealers.
I wish this was a Japanese motorcycle. Tell me how Aprillia can come along and get so many things right....right out of the gate? Exactly what are they smoking in Japan?
Nice bike, still heavy at 204kg, motorcycles have not changed much in the last 15 years, only tech.
If you look hard, you can get these at a really good price too.
After watching all the videos on the new Aprilia Tuareg, I ordered a new 2023. The price has gone up $300 to $12,299. But this is going to be the deal breaker for me Not to take delivery, Aprilia charges $1999.50 Fifty cents short of $2000.00 Shipping to Jacksonville Florida, WTF!
These are competitively priced in Europe and the UK at £10,100.00 (Tenere) vs £10,600.00 (Tuareg), but they're not as competitive in the US at $10,499 (Tenere) vs $12,599.00 (Tuareg). Our prices in Canada usually match the US pretty closely after currency conversion, so the Tuareg isn't looking very appealing.
Ya in Canada too and yes noticed the sticker at the dealership. Still seems like good value BUT the Tenere begins to look like the more doable option.
The aprilia can be found for 9K new in the uk
@@JohnSmith-ef8nr which makes the price in North America even less appealing.
It's hard to find a Tenere for list price in USA. Dealers are marking them up sometimes higher than the Aprilia.
@@markwoolard3315 not an issue up here.
What's the big deal with cruise control? I don't get it, I've never had it on a bike or felt the need for it. Surely it's only of use when riding loads of miles on motorways which is boring on a bike.
Depends what you use the bike for! I do quite a bit of motorway for work stuff 👍
Unless you have many adventure trails on your doorstep you still have to travel to where you want to be and a 100+ mile slog is made easier with cruise control
Had it on a Tracer 900GT last year...useful, but not a deal breaker, and available for most things aftermarket, including the new Honda CL500, and it's not even out yet!
@Jay Bee Ehh?(not T in ADV)
I find cruise control is very helpful in not busting low speed limits when trundling through villages. Allows me to focus on whats going on behind all those parked cars and monitor pedestrians rather than continually looking to check I’m not doing 31 mph! Very rarely use cruise on higher speed roads though. Not all cruise control systems work at slow speed so that’s something I would look to understand before making a purchase decision.
cruise control is all we need on adventure bikes.
The engine should also be revving. 2nd and 3rd gear full revving.
Shame no show by Aprilia at this years bike show
Tuono 660 semi-naked bro....Tuareg is the bike you're reviewing #editingskills @1:13
The Honda and Suzuki fail(no cruise, tubed tyes as well, bad travel suspension).
But both know how to build a bike properly…
ruclips.net/video/jqGXrrD0baI/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/_upKGynKqpo/видео.html
Completely agree on the suspension travel. Tubes better however, you can run full dirt bike knobbies.
For the slight price difference a KTM 890 Adventure seems like a better deal. Better spec & not as vomit inducing to look at.
Tubeless??
Yes
you mentioned Suzuki and Yamaha, but you didn’t mention CT Moto, which has the 800 adventure there also comes with cruise control and price reader on the scene and has a DNA or power plant of a KTM 799 cc engine
860mm seat height 😢
Lower seat is available.
Bike aside. Do check out the 360 videos of F1 cars around Monaco. Epic stuff.

too much sponsor coverage, but whatever
Aprilia if it’s anything as bad as their pegaso 650 which was a pos over priced parts over heating all the time bad design and poor finish and to boot who designed the front one off the ugliest bikes I’ve ever seen
Strange I had an .Aprilia Pegaso 2009 in Yellow. In 38 years of riding was one of the most engaging bikes I have ever owned she certainly had a bit of character and excellent build quality.
