I love how the barges can pump ballast water from God knows where and I get a fine for a weed hanging from my trailer !
It’s not ballast water. Hopper barges are known for leaking. That’s river water

Your about the age when my dad restarted fishing with me ! We did that about about 5 years everyday it was good fishing weather ! His diabetes started hurting his feet so he quit going . But it was awesome! gave us new fish stories until the end . He took me all the time when I was young . I enjoy you and your dad fishing it up !

Enjoy those times fishing with your ole man. I bought a new bass boat this year to spend time with my Dad and a month after getting it he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He just finished his radiation treatments and is still very weak. Hopefully we will get to go out together before the year is up. Love these videos man.
I feel your pain man. Me and my grandpa were real close, and unfortunately after I got into high school, his health prevented us from fishing ever again. He passed away right before my senior year. Things like that are the reason I enjoy fishing with my dad so much. I'm hoping your old man bounces back! Keep me updated!

@Kellen John sorry for your loss brother, my pops passed away when I was 8 years old so my memories are not very good about him but I always remembered going fishing with him and it's stuck with me every since.

Haha I caught a channel the other day and I hooked him on the cheek, I’m guessing he went for the bait and spit it out while swimming away from me. The hook and line got pulled across him as I set the hook. Guessing something similar happened to you with the forehead hooked one.
Who knows for sure but its fun to speculate

It was an okuma komodo. Cant remember the exact model. 400 class with a 6:3:1 gear ratio.
Hi, I like your videos. I'm in southeast Iowa, have you ever fished in the Iowa river? I've never caught a big catfish before but I really want to now. I'm always catching dogfish, bluegill and bass.

This stretch of the river seems so industrial. The fish appear strong, but I wonder if there are better locations nearby.

Hell, I would love to fish with all of you guys. I just can't see myself releasing fish that big because I love eating catfish. Bummer, I don't have a car .So traveling to your destination is probably out of the question for me anyway.

My dad would buy a bucket of chicken guts from farmers. He let it ferment a few days and then went fishing for big cats and bait in our crab traps.

Fresh bait? I chartered a guy for blues for 4 hours. He brought 1 shad to cut up for bait. Caught a 26 and a 35 but so that was cool but the one fish seemed odd.

Second, I know how your Dad feels when I hear you call him "Old Man", it's Our Sons name for me but at 58 I ain't feeling it yet. As long as I hear it I know by best bud is missing me all the back in Chicago. I do love the Big River, Flatheads aside, you know you're gonna find some big Fish, maybe they'll start eating those Asian Carp. I hope that a Generation from now someone will find a way to eradicate them

Never hooked a fish in the forehead, but I hooked my buddies...then pulled it out with needlenose...needless to say no pain no gain...
