Maan ikr. I live in Norway. I was at a good restaurant with my parents and it cost like 40$ per person to eat. Add some beer/soda, 170$ easily. Norway is super expensive.

Such a spot on video! My husband and I started traveling full time in December after selling everything we own and quitting our jobs. We spend soooo much less money on the road than we ever did at home. For instance, we currently "live" in Bali, Indonesia and we spend on average a total of $40 usd per day (and yes that includes accommodation, transportation, and food). It's ridiculous how much cheaper our daily budget is in comparison to our budget when we were at home!
Wow that's really cool, I would love to experiment such a thing, but knowing that I'm 17 yo I have to wait... travel is a really unique experience that everyone should experiment in life!
Cam and Kels can a person work for part time (like server, babysitting or maid....) While traveling in another country which the person doesn't belong to for long time like month or two
The only problem is you wont be earning the salary you did at home while traveling which is the dbl edge sword. You may not be getting any income at all so even thought the cost is cheaper it still evens out. I'm happy to hear you guys made such a daring move and are living life. I'm Kenyan and travelling around the world is my dream though I've never left Kenya. sadly, its a hard dream to realize for those of us who come from lower income countries. I worked three jobs for 6 months in Denmark and travelled to New Zealand and Australia for 5 months. It's obviously expensive countries too. I'm not into bungy jumping or skydiving, I didn't go out much to drink, but I did everything else I felt like such as horseback riding, rafting etcetera. I stayed in dorm rooms at hostels and cooked most of my food, but then I also had the money to go out for a nice dinner after a hike where I could hardly move my arms or legs afterwards! Before I bought hiking boots, a ticket or my backpack I had about 100.000 Danish kroner, which comes to 15000 dollars. I had a bit of money on the bank account when I got back home, I brought souvenirs home as well. This was only for half a year of travelling but in only expensive countries. I also took a guided bus tour from Darwin to Melbourne etc. which was more expensive than for example travelling by Greyhound bus as I did along the east coast of Australia. I found the airplane ticket really is about 1/10th of the entire budget, after all you pay the same to fly there whether you stay for a week or half a year.
As usual, love the tips! I did a 6 month trip (the plan was a year but I got tired and homesick, so, that was a learning experience too!). I would say I spent not over 3,000 us dollars. Yes, lots of low cost airlines buy also lots of buses (my favorites). I went form Turkey to Morocco including the expensive Switzerland. I do have a couple of tricks: 1) staying sometimes with friends and 2)volunteer jobs trough Workaway, which I loved because I truly got to interact with locals, amazing homemade food, learn a lot and met amazing people closer to your mindset. Most of my meals came from shopping in supermarkets but I do get coffees in lovely places with amazing views. Be driven by enthusiasm, research a lot and be open to the detours......and have fun! :D Those are my tips :)
@@hritishkumar3871 I go very low budget. Spend at least 2 weeks per month volunteering (workway). Lots of night buses, very budget hostels, walk a lot (instead of taking the subway) and a lot of groceries shopping. It takes research and time and a lot of concessions.....but it's doable.
4:25 Tip on food: Consider buying food at a local grocery stores. I have been to able to make purchases at stores for multiple meals that can equal the cost of a single meal at a fast food joint.
Awesome video. A tip I have for fellow travelers is that when a country costs less to live in or travel in, it's easier to blow your budget. It's easy to treat yourself like a king because it's "cheaper here then somewhere else". But all the little additions add up quickly!
Me sitting here want to go on a trip around the world with my best friend taking notes even though I can’t legally do any of this stuff alone for 6 more years: 👁👄👁
Working towards traveling for 2 years around the world starting January of next year!!! I would agree $20k is enough to be comfortable and not miss out on activities avoiding the most expensive areas.
I travelled around the world for four years. I used a working holiday visa in the UK --got to live like a local and then used the strong pound to travel from Nepal overland back to Europe. I worked as an aupair in Vienna, got another working visa for New Zealnd --where I picked apples for money and lived in a van. I spent a year In Ecuador as a student living in an indigenous village, and worked on an archaeological dig in Belize. This was in my early 20s I never had more than $5000 in my bank account--but I managed to have great experiences! Now, in my 30s --I travel with more luxury--(airBnBs instead of hostles) but I make more $ than when I was 20-which is also a fun way to travel.
Great ideas! I have one additional option especially if you happen to be an educator. I started doing EF tours with my students. If you get 6 or more paying students signed up, your trip is covered for free. We just got back from a 10 day London/Paris trip and I only paid about $300-400 (just tips, some lunches on my own, and some souvenirs). I vloged the trip (first time vloger warning) if anyone wants to know what its like. two years ago, we did a tour of Germany and the Swill Alps. The nice thing is you get to see lots of the big tourist destinations without paying. You can also accumulate points with EF based on how many students you bring, and you can use those points for trips on your own later.... not to mention you get students hooked on traveling as well :-)
My personal experience for anyone starting from scratch is getting a job on cruise ship. It allows you to earn money and travel, but most importantly you meet a lot of people from around the world. Make friends and boom accommodation and local knowledge is sorted cutting down on some major costs.
Easily one of your best videos. Usually these come off as BS but you guys broke it down perfectly. Self awarness and choosing the right path are absolutely KEY to this. Some of my followers will never stay in hostels. Well, your prices is going up. Some refuse to eat street food. Price is going up. lol. Great work fellas.
Travel around the world cost 700k 1 weeks in each country. probably we need to spend 1 month in each country so that would be 3 million dollars around the world we look proper with 1 week so we all need 3 million dollars to see the world 🌎
Thanks guys. Found this really useful when planning my upcoming RTW Trip. I have done a quick check of accommodation cost in each countries capital city and then used 30% of that cost to budget for food so its hopefully reflective of the countries which have higher costs vs lower costs
I'm taking off next year for around a years travel. Aussie here. 6 months of it are hiking and the rest is just where ever I get too. I have an around the world first class ticket with 6 stops to get me going. The rest I have no idea so this really helped. I'm old but a newbie so all advice is welcome. The budget blew me away. I've set aside much more plus I have income while I'm away. I might not go home. Thanks again. Xxoo
I'm from the US, and I recently completed a 30 day euro tour. I visited Stockholm, Oslo, Rome, Florence, Madrid, Barcelona and London. I stayed 4 nights in each city with the exception of London where I stayed 6 nights. I consider myself a mid-tier traveler, meaning I prefer staying in hotels/hostels with my own private room and bathroom. I enjoy eating a nice meal at a restaurant here and there. With that said, I spent about $5,150 on my trip. This includes airfare, transportation costs (taxis, trains, tubes, buses, etc..) hotel accommodations, eating out, sightseeing/museum visits and souvenirs.
+crybaby xx Hey, I intend to travel to Rome any tips? I want to do it as a birthday gift for my dad where he and I go to Rome. He likes historical places so i figured Rome would be great.
It seems as if this channel constantly monitors my thoughts and posts things that is always relevant to what I'm curious about. You guys are incredible! I'm pursuing my dream of being a travel journalist and these videos are very helpful to backpacking and just living life the way I want.
Hey!! I always watch your awesome videos from Japan. Your videos inspire me to go out my country!! Finally, I'm going to travel around the world since coming September. I hope I can meet you guys on the road!! I will keep in my mind "Stay curious, Keep exploring " during my trip.
Loved the video! I am ready to do this again - 25 years later (25 year hiatus raising a family) . So here are my long ago experiences that may be worth looking into. I hopped aboard a tall ship as a deck hand and sailed from England to Australia. We stopped in the Madeira Islands, the Canaries, Cape Verde Islands, Brazil, (almost Tristan da Cuna - but the weather was too rough), So. Africa, Mauritius, and finally reaching Australia stopping in Freemantle and then ending up in Sydney. There are still quite a few ships out there (especially out of Australia but some in the US) ) where you can either get paid a stipend or negotiate to work for travel. There are many stops along the way and you may have the opportunity to work for different ships from one place to another. Its a small community of sailors and they all pretty much know each other. My other thought was was considering container ships - sometimes they have space for travelers or at least they used to. Also, Vagabrothers, you totally skipped Africa! There are quite a few non-conflict areas to explore.
I'm 18 and just finished my gap year and am I'm so excited to take another one after university to travel around the world. I genuinely think that everyone should at least take 1 year in their life to travel and take some time off. Anyways love your videos and will definitely plan one in a few years !
vagabrothers I started working in a factory that makes boxes for watches, perfumes... Then went to Vietnam to volunteer in an orphanage for 2months, travelled around Vietnam and Cambodia. Went back home to work again to earn some money. Went to Argentina for 3months to improve my spanish and travelled around SA (bolivia, chile, peru and Argentina) for 35 days. Honestly the best year of my life. I'm so so so happy i did it right after high school because i learned so many things, saw extraordinary landscapes and did things i never imagined i would :) ! Thank you for the videos and keep up the great work !!!
Amazing job!!! and right after highschool i would have been terrified to do a gap year!!! I want to do summer/December in SA since i already know some spanish it won't be so hard to manage.
Pretty accurate :) we're on a world around trip right now, started from Europe, calculated the prices until New-Zealand (where we'll work) which we reach in 5 months, we estimated 6500 euros (living in private rooms, but also workaway-ing sometimes, eating what the locals and we're not the party people) it seems legit so far (we are in Nepal right now). We also saved on airplane ticket by reaching China inland (buses and transsiberian rail - do not book through an agency but on the official Russian site, it's much cheaper!) thumbs up for the video! 👍🏻
I would say go out of tourist season. Places are sometimes still open but nowhere near as busy. Sure you might not get to do everything, but you can take your time if you want. People thought I was weird for example when I went to visit reindeers and huskies in September, but oh well they were super friendly anyway. :) I asked a taxi driver to take me to a place I was staying near Santa Claus Village and at first he thought I was mistaken. Hahaha!
I've hitchhiked and/or worked for transport on boats, ships and planes around the world. Often solo pilots just want someone to talk to on private planes. You can work yachts as crew. Cruise ships will sometimes take you on if you're willing to work in the galley or help entertain guests, etc. There's plenty of creative ways to reduce or eliminate transport over the oceans if you're not in a hurry and not picky about where you'll end up. It's the difference between being a tourist or traveler. Let serendipity rule and it'll be a lot more fun and interesting.
You really need to research RTW v buying individual tickets. I saved about £200-400 doing it that way. Also get airmiles via a credit card or when you buy stuff (this is paying for my Bangkok to Tokyo return flight). Finally, hostels are not always cheaper than hotels if you want your own room...compare using tripadvisor or trivago (dont just use one) and dont forget airbnb
Choose your level of luxury. If you go cheap you'll be amazed how much you will open yourself to the culture and the locals especially if you travel solo. I recommend yall to try it.
when you have whole year why not take some trains or buses instead of planes? that is much more cheap. and i'm pretty sure you can spen much less than 10k, probably even less than 5k. if you also earn a little in that time, that makes it even more cheap.
According to some people I've been listening and reading about for the past 2 years, in SE Asia, you can go on a month in India for 300$, Nepal and Sri Lanka for 400$ and the rest of it (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos...) for 500-750$ a month. Add up for 13 months (because there is always unexpected expendings), you may do 1 year in SE Asia for +/- 6000$, living well and doing activities P. S. I think 6 months in SE would be enough. Then you should check central america or something, still cheap, and different
Plenty of ways to overcome a language barrier. Before you go do a bit of research and find some useful phrases, such as hello, how much does this cost, and do you speak english (or whichever language you speak fluently)
it depends. For example, I just booked a flight from Bangkok to Berlin for $201. Flights aren't always expensive. It's about planning and felxibility. I use skyscanner.com religiously.
I can say that as a middle aged couple from Australia, travelling in South East Asia in mid range accommodation and eating at street food stalls and local cafes, we can travel for less than half the cost of travelling within our own country, even with the extra cost of airfares. Would go to S E Asia every time. Great food, great people and wonderful experiences.
don't wanna say that but the travelling and this channel is only for western peoples ... like seriously I m n indian and I can say that if someone come from u.s with 1000$ to india he/she can live a "royal" life in india for about 2 - 3 years. Travelling around the world is a thing for the peoples who have strong currencies in their pocket .
+siddhant pandey This is true, the video is written from our perspective as travelers from the west. We try to make the information here as universal as possible, but we also need to make some assumptions about our average audience (most of whom are in the US and Europe) in order to make the video specific enough to be useful. That's why we try to focus on teaching principles, rather than talking in specific numbers: calculating the cost of travel is the same technique, regardless of your currency
siddhant pandey This is the comfort I'm looking for :). I'll be doing a gap year travel in December and I'm going to penny pinch my budget but of course still have fun! Thanks for your insight.
I used sometimes Blablacar in Europe. It's like an airBnb for cars. so you can share one with people traveling the same route. Cheaper than a long distance bus
Great video guys! Audio kinda funky though :( Cool shirt alex I recently got a full time job, I feel like now I can't make any big travel trips, now what? #snapsquad
Cristian Sandoval try to do a contractor position where you can take vacation when you want. I work a job where our busy season is March-June and realistically you can make 60-100K in that time. It’s sales but if you work hard for that time you can travel the rest of the months.
A major one to watch out for I would say is phone service, choose the cheapest option from your provider(something that lets you work gps and phone calls that’s it) always try to look for wifi spots and use a vpn
This is definitely a lower cost than I thought. I expected y'all to say a year traveling would be around $30,000. Great to know all of this. Can't wait to hear about the working while traveling tips! Y'all are great, keep it up (:
Awesome content guys! I've been binge watching this channel for the last 2 days! I came back home to study after staying in Aus & SE Asia for a bit over 2 years. Seeing you guys "living the dream" just makes me want to leave again.
I am an au pair in the Netherlands. So far my expenses were just flight tickets. If you book a (changeable) return ticket it costs less than a one way ticket. Accommodation and meals and some toiletries are provided by the family. I earn money, which I use for other travel during my off days.
Just feel compelled to share: 18 months, some central and ALL south america countries. + 7 months en mi ciudad preferido en todo el mundo - Buenos Aires living large and partying hard, all that ended up costing me 28K USD. 18 Months. ALL S America countries (68 different cities, parks, hikes, beaches, etc.). Most fulfilling experience ever - priceless. Memories - out of this world.
Can't wait for the working holiday visa video. There are only 300 NZ visas available for Brazilians each year and next month I will be running to get mine! I was only able to save U$ 5k for my "gap year" but I am hopping to increment my budget and extend my trip with this time in New Zealand!! Wish me luck!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I'm saving now in the UK to do a round the world trip starting in November and am starting planning as of today. Iv already started saving so that's good. Iv subscribed and will be following this channel and many others over the next couple if months for as many tips as possible
FYI - For a family of 4 (housing, food, transportation) we spent about $70 per day in SE Asia, $100 in China, $220 in Singapore, $160 in Japan, $200 in Australia, $200 in New Zealand. You could do it more cheaply but we were staying at Airbnb's not hostels which accounted for the majority of the daily cost. To stay on budget we spent more time in SE Asia and less time in other, more expensive, countries. The cost of food in Australia and New Zealand was expensive. *Not including airfare between countries.
Your guys videos are dope they make me want to hop on a plane and fly anywhere!! I'm going on my first trip by myself to London in a month I'm so excited!!!
This might sound crazy to most of people but i only eat 1 meal a day from last month after watching some fasting document and now i think that is one of the best thing i have tried in my life , i felt healthier , got more energy than ever my belly fat gone faster than my previous of 2 year of boxing training , save me a lot of time and money . If i travel around the world i know i will saving bunch of money on food and also got more time to discover the places , highly recommend to anybody .
Such a good video, love the practical use stuff, rather than leaving it at "depends on your taste", I think now everyone can make a goal of what it should take to go on a couple holidays...ballin' video guys!
OMG, I love your videos. I left Australia almost 3 years ago and about to start my 3rd working holiday visa. Its the best was to turn a gap year into 5 years of traveling. :)
One more tip: Don't think Europe has the same prices. 1 day in Norway is equal to a week in Poland and 2 weeks in Moldova.
+Slashplite amen!!!
True ! I went to poland for a week and only spent 100€ for the whole trip :)

Good one Bro's!
+Adi-G Awesome! It's crazy how that can happen!

I agree with this. I spent 4 months in SE Asia on a pretty small budget, about the equivalent of visiting New Zealand for 2-3 weeks.

I found the airplane ticket really is about 1/10th of the entire budget, after all you pay the same to fly there whether you stay for a week or half a year.
My auntie does the same. She works in Switzerland for 6 months and travels for next 6 months.

But how much it totally cost
Including ,food , hotel, flight charges, extra activity.
Yes! Waiting for the reply on the same questions
How did you spend only 3,000 in 6 months? I spent almost $1500 in two weeks on vacation lol

Depends where you are from
emmanuel yeboah ehhh , I think it just depends where you are traveling to , some countries are cheaper then others .
@@aw7474 From what i've gathered from about 2h worth of comment sections of travel videos, Norway is evil. India and thailand are penniless
Awesome video. A tip I have for fellow travelers is that when a country costs less to live in or travel in, it's easier to blow your budget. It's easy to treat yourself like a king because it's "cheaper here then somewhere else". But all the little additions add up quickly!

First ive seen another Indian here! I wanna travel but the study pressure is wayy too much (honestly thats why i wanna travel lol) :P
What job do you have?
Great ideas! I have one additional option especially if you happen to be an educator. I started doing EF tours with my students. If you get 6 or more paying students signed up, your trip is covered for free. We just got back from a 10 day London/Paris trip and I only paid about $300-400 (just tips, some lunches on my own, and some souvenirs). I vloged the trip (first time vloger warning) if anyone wants to know what its like. two years ago, we did a tour of Germany and the Swill Alps. The nice thing is you get to see lots of the big tourist destinations without paying. You can also accumulate points with EF based on how many students you bring, and you can use those points for trips on your own later.... not to mention you get students hooked on traveling as well :-)
What is EF? Could you tell me more about it?
My personal experience for anyone starting from scratch is getting a job on cruise ship. It allows you to earn money and travel, but most importantly you meet a lot of people from around the world. Make friends and boom accommodation and local knowledge is sorted cutting down on some major costs.

*SO HOW MUCH DOES IT ACTUALLY COST TO TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD !!!!!*

😂😂
Deep down the real answer you want isn't in value, its in your heart.
Thanks for taking the time out and inspiring others to travel. Just discovered some of your videos a few days ago. Keep up the good work!

I searched this type of video for a long time, fortunately I've found your You tube channel. Immediately subscribed! Sending love from Italy!

Thank you!!! We really want to come visit Japan and hope to be there this winter. Really want to explore Hokkaido. Stay curious and keep exploring!
I'm 18 and just finished my gap year and am I'm so excited to take another one after university to travel around the world. vagabrothers I started working in a factory that makes boxes for watches, perfumes... Then went to Vietnam to volunteer in an orphanage for 2months, travelled around Vietnam and Cambodia. 👍🏻
Yes!! 🙌🙌 I was right! I said between $10K to $15K!
THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHHH!! Y'all are a live saver and a blessing to the adventures and explores of the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Good idea! We will try :)
Espacilly Asia would be very nice
I would say go out of tourist season. Places are sometimes still open but nowhere near as busy. Sure you might not get to do everything, but you can take your time if you want. People thought I was weird for example when I went to visit reindeers and huskies in September, but oh well they were super friendly anyway. :) I asked a taxi driver to take me to a place I was staying near Santa Claus Village and at first he thought I was mistaken. Hahaha!

Great video. Now the world has opened up I’m going travelling at the end of April. Great bits of advice.
Guys, the sound is busted on this one. It's way too loud.
Thanks for sharing your tips :)
What credit card do you recommend for travelers?
I'm in the UK so I use a Halifax Clarity as it has no fees for using overseas... I also carry a Fairfx prepaid card and a Monzo card to withdraw cash
Sorry in the UK I use an Amex British Airways card for miles but only on Sterling transactions
Choose your level of luxury. If you go cheap you'll be amazed how much you will open yourself to the culture and the locals especially if you travel solo. I recommend yall to try it.
I was hoping to to take a gap year travel on a 10k budget mainly around SE Asia. Do you guys still think it's possible?
Totally possible especially if you're sticking to SE Asia. Don't be deterred you can do it!
when you have whole year why not take some trains or buses instead of planes? that is much more cheap.
and i'm pretty sure you can spen much less than 10k, probably even less than 5k.
if you also earn a little in that time, that makes it even more cheap.
tubesurfer89 A
very easy
According to some people I've been listening and reading about for the past 2 years, in SE Asia, you can go on a month in India for 300$, Nepal and Sri Lanka for 400$ and the rest of it (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos...) for 500-750$ a month. Add up for 13 months (because there is always unexpected expendings), you may do 1 year in SE Asia for +/- 6000$, living well and doing activities
P. S. I think 6 months in SE would be enough. Then you should check central america or something, still cheap, and different
I’m traveling 2 years from now. And I want to take advantage of traveling. 😍thank you.
Is the audio actually messed up or is it just me ??!!

Language has been my main concern in regards to traveling the world. I was wondering how you managed to overcome this barrier.
Plenty of ways to overcome a language barrier. Before you go do a bit of research and find some useful phrases, such as hello, how much does this cost, and do you speak english (or whichever language you speak fluently)
vagabrothers also the hostelworld app has a really cool language section!
Walking Trash language is nothing try to connect . the first universal language
I've been to 13 countries had no problem with language barrier. Just learn some basic phrases you'll be fine. Good luck!
Everyone in the world, speaks English or Spanish - except in Europe, and China, Russia.
I love that more and more people are dedicating long periods of their life to travel!
These kind of vids are always about food and accomodation but the real expense is flights and that will always be expensive
Next video in this series is about how to get the cheapest flights possible. Stay tuned :)
it depends. For example, I just booked a flight from Bangkok to Berlin for $201. Flights aren't always expensive. It's about planning and felxibility. I use skyscanner.com religiously.
Minority Nomad yeah i flew from amsterdam to lisbon for 9 bucks but thats very rare
Look many date to buy your ticket or look to make many stop to have a ticket not expensive
flights can be cheap if you know what you are doing.
I appreciate your perspective and ur channel ... I just wanna share my thoughts doesn't matter someone agrees or not!
siddhant pandey This is the comfort I'm looking for :).
Audio kinda funky though :(
Cool shirt alex
I recently got a full time job, I feel like now I can't make any big travel trips, now what?

Cristian Sandoval try to do a contractor position where you can take vacation when you want.
I work a job where our busy season is March-June and realistically you can make 60-100K in that time. It’s sales but if you work hard for that time you can travel the rest of the months.
A major one to watch out for I would say is phone service, choose the cheapest option from your provider(something that lets you work gps and phone calls that’s it) always try to look for wifi spots and use a vpn
visit romania!!
+Alex Lefter we would love to!
