Checo got all the hate, but none of the love for doing his job this year, but Lando loses out by almost a second in quali and no one is bothered. Lewis goes out Q2 and life is over. Zak Brown thinks he is involved in the Toto-Christian rivalry. The only issue is he has never won even a sausage in F1. Although he sure looks like he has bought and eaten many. He will never achieve anything close to the success that Toto and Christian have both had.
There's no Toto-Christian rivalry anymore, McLaren are comfortably outperforming Mercedes in every single way.

I guess you haven't been paying attention to his recent F1 Test @ Imola in the W13 Merc?
He's a mercedes junior if you didn't know, therefore Toto decided that Antonelli needed a W13 test weekend in Imola not too long ago. He smashed in great lap times and motorsport is a weird sport. Basically if you do good in a faster car the current one doesn't mean anything. Perfect example was Bearman in Jeddah. :)

with this years tires? with an engine that had a bunch of 'reliability updates'? or even a new engine? cause technically engines are spec locked so any will do rule wise for such a test.. ? (current engine would be quite a bit stronger i imagine)
also at a test they can do a glory run in whatever engine mode. something you cant do in Q, cause you will have to do the race in that mode (a certain % it used to be)
and no solid benchmark cause the 22 Q was rainy I think heard.

realistically the kid hasnt even proven he can hang with the big boys in F2.. he won some regional series. just wondering what the grounds would be for an exception. I mean I dont even care if they give it.. but it makes no sense if they do. might as well scrap the rule then.
He only has what 5 or 6 races at F2 and hasn't been terrible and shown steady improvement. Finishing 14 10 6 6 ret 4. But the important thing is in the juniors he didn't just win, he dominated. This isn't a guy that won a couple races, moved up a division, spent two years there to win a couple races before moving up again. This is a guy that came in, stomped the field, then immediately moved up. It's what you look for. This is what guys like Max, Ham and LeClerc did as opposed to failures like Sergeant who won but never dominated.
I would also point out, Prema sucked all around with the new car to start this F2 season. It seems to be taking them longer to figure out this new car. If this was Prema of three years ago when they were the clear dominant team, this slow start would be very concerning but it's not.
Now none of this means he really is the next great thing. He could very well turn out to be a flop but all the indicators are good. I'd take him over the likes of Bearman or Lawson any day. Those guys are destined be solid but unspectacular. The next Checo or Sainz or Hulkenburg at best. Kimi is the only one currently that could possibly be the next Hamilton. But only time and better equipment at the highest level will tell

If anyone is an expert on losing key personnel, it's McLaren and Brown; Key, Seidl, Sanchez (who they recruited and realised there was no job for), plus Boullier and the Freddos bars fiasco. Brown made a big deal about signing Key back in 2018, as I recall.

Strange how it’s the DTS Max fanboys who are getting very upset lately.
No matter how times I mute the weirdos that project everything I say is motivated by hating Hamilton and loving Verstappen, or being a "new fan" (even though I've watched since the 80s and never watched DTS) they always crawl out from under their rocks when triggered by anything that doesn't follow their reductive and hostile strawman narratives, and paint everyone else as tribal and biased.
I'd happily see McLaren or Ferrari winning for a change, and a decent driver in the other Red Bull, but they just can't conceive of others not worshipping one driver and team, or not insisting one driver is better than all the others, rather than looking at their strengths and weaknesses. Sad. But they just can't use logic, and only care about shouting at others to make themselves feel validated.

Hypercar project is set to wrap up in June. At least the design phase. So newey will have a long time till next year to decide what he wants to do

It makes perfect sense. Merc haven't built a good car since 1955. What they can and did do is build an all conquering engine. Now Honda and Ferrari have caught up on the engine side and paired those engines with better cars and even teams running the same engine are building better cars.

Records are irrelevant, diffent regs, diffeent amount of races a season and diffrent points allocation over the years. Lewis is old now and when he was in his prime he had a real teammate to contend with and a lot less races a season to make the most of a dominant car. Same as Schumacher, if they had 24 races a season back in the 2000's how many more wins and poles would he have had?

RB always have a very distinct number 1 driver. look at the vettel days, as much as i like him hes only an average driver as shown up after he left. I don't have anything against max although I do think he's being made to look better than he might well be by RB. I just hate the way rb operate and I have some insider knowledge that it's not a very nice culture inside the team.
Newey also said that the last couple of iterations of the car were simply evolution's of the car which I took to mean the car he designed for the last regulation change and the design team merely evolved his creation, contradicting Horner previously downplaying Neweys role as being the driving force in designing the car.
Newey was only PARTTIME CONSULTANT these last seasons. Pierre Wache and his team build the cars…not Newey. Newey focused on the suspension, he said himself. The rest was the rest of the team.
RBR has rearranged the team since 2021 knowing Newey would leave soon. Newey was only consultant. As Max and Horner have said multiple times these last seasons.
That’s ALSO why Pierre Wache was ON THE PODIUM at the car launch this season, to show he is the head now…not Newey anymore.
RBR was prepared for this.
Weird that Brundle kinda pushes Adrian that much. It’s like he really tries to push him towards Lewis. Let Adrian take a break so he can decide for himself what he really wants. And Zak Brown is a typical American elephant storming through a room full of eggs.
