Oh yess, i have been telling people about this chain of islands of Maluku in the east. Sumba, Alor, and Rote islands in Indonesia province of East Nusa Tenggara along with Raja Ampat and Triton Bay in Papua also deserves some recognition. They are beauty!

Yes,Eastern Indonesia aka West Melanesia (the Indigineous Locals are of Oceanian, specifically Melanesian and Polynesian Stock) are incredibly scenic and beautiful. Its tragic how overlooked the region is!It also has tons of unique species such as Cassowaries,Birds of Paradise, and even local distinct Marsupials! It is also the most linguistically diverse region in Indonesia, with Central Austronesian languages that are Non-Malay,Papuan languages, and even one now extinct Truukic Micronesian language!

The Spice Islands are written about for centuries.. Most spice mixes find their origin in Maluku/Molo Uku.
Nutmeg, Cloves, Mace and Pepper were highly sought after, in general for its resources, by European nations, and why it is still sought after by the Oil and Gas Industry, also by the Tourist industry... pls keep Maluku pristeen and healthy for our future generations.

@@mcj2219 we are Melanesian. Maluku is part of Melanesia geographically, genetically and more. Even the flora and fauna is Melanesian, that is seen on other Melanesian islands. And other Melanesians have Austronesian ancestry aswell. All of them to be exact, besides the Papuans. For some reason the Papuans don’t have (a lot) of Austronesian ancestry. But our brothers and sisters from Fiji, Solomon Islands etc. all do have Austronesian ancestry, but yes we Moluccan’s have a bit more than the other Melanesians. But we are Melanesian. In my experience, locals would warn you about dangerous locations (for example the boatman when I go `island hopping`), but I think the biggest danger would be unpredictable strong currents, rather than the different sea creatures. In eastern parts of Indonesia, reef sharks are pretty common basically everywhere (they are harmless, but I guess they could make some people scared). I`ve heard about sea crocodiles in Raja Ampat, but also, just at specific locations that local people will tell you about.

Also, Maluku is quite far from the touristy places in Indonesia (plus Maluku itself is huge), so traveling is time-consuming, which keeps most people away - not to mention other factors, like the lack of organized tours, etc. Plus with the rising flight-prices, it is pretty safe to remain as it is. Some more tourism however (people who after adventure - that's not the majority in tourism) would be beneficial for the locals I believe.

@@HighOnLowTideDont respond, this person is literally trying to erase the Indigineous Melanesians of the Islands for Javanese Muslim Colonization purposes and the Land Theft and Resource Robbery that proceeds it.The same is happening in West Papua.

If you arent Moluccan, dont EVER tell the Indigineous People who we are.Its Indigineous Erasure, just like whats happening to our Non Malay Indigineous Austronesian and Papuan languages. The DNA results showing the Melanesian and Polynesian roots of the Indigenous Moluccans is all over the Internet including my own Ancestry results on my RUclips Page.

I don’t get it you found paradise now you want to tell everyone counter-productive isn’t it I’ve spent my whole life going to remote parts of the world surfing and there is very few left because of overexposure if you want to take your kids there In the future then don’t be telling everyone about it
