I wish there was a story where Diesel told lies about Henry after Duck had left. They could’ve put Domeless Engines in a different book or had 5 stories.
"It's only an engine" - Barber Don't you hate it when an engine crashes through your wall? It always happens on any other day. It's especially frustrating when it spoils your new paint and it leaves a giant hole for you to fix
The Barber isn't even phased by the fact Duck caused property damage and nearly killed or at the very least seriously injured either him or some of his customers. Does he have spider-sense so he could sense the danger and not be afraid?
Both meanings - narrow escape and barbers mistake. And how could this help wi the sorting diesels scheme, how long did duck work at wellsworth (and how can you tell), and what would’ve happened if diesel wasn’t exposed after ducks crash?
I appreciate your feelings, and we'll gladly repair the damage. But you must know that this engine and his crew had prevented a very serious accident. You and many others might've been badly hurt. It was a very close, uh..... shave.
The runaway doesn't help but him being away from the yard did. It's actually quite clever. The Fat Controller suspected all along that Diesel was lying about Duck, so he removed Duck from the yard, giving Diesel a false sense of security. Then, thinking he could get away with it, Diesel started telling lies about Henry, which would have made it clear he had been lying about Duck too.
Besides sir topham hatt was sorting his scheme out to expose diesel, and if you’d ask me, I’d say that the reason why he tried to frame Henry, too, it’s cause he also must’ve got worried of being exposed right after duck left, and tried to make his scheme a lot complicated to sort out
Duck did manage to prevent a serious accident with the passenger train and had slowed the runaway trucks down enough so when he actually did hit the barber’s shop, the only damage was to the building and the people inside weren’t harmed physically. By preventing a serious accident and reducing the severity of the one he had, both done at serious cost to himself, he regained the respect of the other engines, even though by this point they were aware Diesel was a fraud and that Duck had done nothing wrong.
It was a close shave because they nearly crashed into the back of the passenger train but slowed down enough for it to clear the station and veer into the siding
How did Edward pull the trucks up the hill, have they break away and chase after Duck, and still make it in time to get to the next station to see the trucks catch up to Duck?
Because he wasn't the one pulling the train in the first place. The book never specifies that Edward was the one pulling the trucks. In all likelhood, it was a foreign engine that Duck was helping.
It was Diesel? But, why? Cuz he wanted revenge - when he became laughing-stock to the trucks while showing off to duck his revolution and thought that it was duck’s fault, he decided to spread these rumors, so as to send him away. That’s why he acted like he knew nothing at all. & to make these rumors, he used up names with inspirements of other engines’ events that had recently happened. Like when Henry’s wheel-acres were flat, James’s vans got mixed- up and Diesel was told what would’ve happened if Edward hadn’t saved James with a lasso, and Gordon had sizzling water popping on his boiler, he came up with the “galloping sausage”, “rusty red scarp-iron”, and “old square wheels” names. And he'd gave other engines name probably, too. Then, this is also why Duck was sent to Wellsowrth, so Sir Topham Hatt could sort this problem and pend upon further inquiries. Diesel got worried about being exposed, so that’s when he started framing Henry to making the problem harder. (Diesel: If it wasn’t for you meddlers, I could’ve succeeded and send Duck away for good!)
@kylecartman10 It was his number when he was built, in the books he never got the number 8 (at least I don't think so, might be wrong) but in the TV show he was always number 8
Duck gets sent away to Edward's station at the end of Dirty Work and that's where Duck is when this story begins. As for your other question, Sir Topham was already suspicious of Diesel even before sending Duck away and simply let Diesel think he'd gotten away with it. Diesel got cocky as a result and tried to do the same thing to Gordon as he did to Duck, only to get caught in the act.
They should have made a book about the three other engines in the shed in the first book and not Gordon and henry I’m talking about the other 3 they should have called ‘the bad three’
WildNorWester’s done one called “Bad Apple”, which covers the entirety of Diesel’s first stay on Sodor. Carson’s Video Workshop’s also done one called “Percy’s Ploy”, which neatly explains the goings-on between Dirty Work and A Close Shave.
@@kumataJDG Gordon or Mallard or one of those nasty blue engines from ''The Three Railway Engines''? Some unnamed engines have been appearing in the books.
While Diesel gets exposed for framing Duck insulting the other engines, Duck, while working with Edward to depend upon inquiry, manages to regain his respect from his friends himself when he bravely stops a runaway goods train at his own risk, especially from colliding into another train, and causing fatal injuries in a barber shop where he gets shaving cream on his face.
a few days later when he came home there was a really rousing welcome for Duck the Great Western Engine.
