That was a very clear explanation! Your hand/arm gestures really helped to visualize what happens during compression and for the first time I think I understand!

Why would you opt for compressors over adaptive limiters? Or rather compression first in the mix followed by adaptive limiter in the mastering? Thank you!
Henry! I've just found your comment. You're so welcome. New channel here, in case you're interested: ruclips.net/channel/UC-RFQtqWAG6kFPRkumqn7rA I hope all's going well with you. Best wishes, Jono
The first example, 5db boost was too much, it's overloading the output. That was a DBX emulation which is an RMS type detector and doesn't grab the transients enough to be able to turn it up much. It's more for putting smack in to the transient than reducing them.
I actually click like at the beginning because I know the video will be top notch.

I’ve discovered an Absolute goldmine
Why every time I want to learn something, it’s always these people that is teaching. No matter what it is I want to study
The problem is that when they're not people, it's more difficult to understand what they're saying.
What? “These people” enlighten me.
@@Quogmeyer I think he means teachers.
Still confused.. lol..
