yeah I went to new zealand in 2004 I think, and some of the guys had boards not even 18 inches wide. semi guns would measure 7ft maybe 18 1/8 wide... it was crazy, but it worked so it's all just a matter of getting used to it, I reckon.
@@Kalanioccc I was there a week before this contest and it was Going OFF!!! G-Land is incredibly consistent. I've been there a few times, always got it insane.
@@Kalanioccc Avilyn “Elevator”. This one was driving me crazy too so I put my obscure music expert friend to the test. “Per another homie and my mother-in-law’s research, it was a demo from an Encinitas, CA band called Avylin.” Went to credits and looked for that name. And sure enough… Now the real challenge is finding any existing copies of said demo.
@@couchfort3934 Yes...Avilyn Band. I got this information from the film's director, Seth Elmer. He informed me that the lead singer died of an overdose - Vocal - Adrian Shetterly. This CD demo must be out there, I don't know the other members of the band, the final 3 songs are from this band. I'm sure this CD exists...just meet the other members...Cheers and beers!!

The boards are friggen huge compared to today....super narrow as well.....was there in 2005.....epic place, and alot more heavy than it looks on video

Amazing surfing - those boards
Though! Look like they would be so challenging to surf in steep sections with that extra length and huge rocker
Obrigado meu brother, esse foi o primeiro filme que assistir antes de iniciar, competir e ter sucesso no surf, nostálgico, obrigado mesmo.
I still have a quicksilver t-shirt of that event, my first time in Indo in 95.
They got great surf for that event, and great surfing. No wonder Gerry loves that wave and place.
waves were epic for that contest, no doubt
