  • In today’s video I put the 20V Craftsman SDS Rotary Hammer Drill up to the test, we’ll find out if it has enough power and runtime for a DIY concrete expansion project, or if you should opt for a plug in model from the competition. For anyone on the fence about SDS rotary hammer drills in general, they are leagues above a standard drill or even a normal hammer drill you might already have. For anyone expanding their driveway and planning to put rebar into their existing slab, a SDS drill is a must.

    My man! That was the most comprehensive, and impressive show of how to get your rebar set, in a timely manner, on a new tool!! I'm a tradesman and work with concrete and steel all day, the company provides the tools that I need for jobs, but hands down I'm about to go pick up one of these instead of paying $$240 for a Makita in my personal collection.

      Thanks for the comment, and all the hard work you’re out doing every day. Just that little spot I did made me appreciate concrete work a lot more.
      I’m glad I got the drill, very impressed for the price and could last a lifetime for how little concrete/masonry drilling I do.

    I travel for work doing Lowe’s Hardware resets and the “Craftsman/Dewalt” argument is something that always makes me laugh! It never gets old! They’re the same tool! I’ve been working with all brands of tools for over 20 years, and from my observations, tools are like a vehicle! If you treat them like sh**, they’ll perform like sh**! But if you know what you’re doing, and know how to utilize what’s in front of you, you’ll find that all of them hold up the same! Btw, I know this is gonna suck to read, but I just showed up in this store we’re on now and guess what I just got that same drill for!?!? $50!!!! They’re on clearance here, and the grinders are on sale for like $40! Go check out what they got bro!

      Thanks for the comment, $50 for the SDS drill is a killer deal! I checked Lowes online right after reading this and saw the brushless 20v angle grinder was on clearance from $100 to $53 (not the standard one that is normally $50). I picked it up yesterday and might make a video once I have something to use it on.
      Just like everyone has been saying the two 20v angle grinders from DeWalt and Craftsman looked very similar in the store as well, probably the same tool with just minor upgrades on the DeWalt.

    Dewalt and craftsman have the same parent company Stanley Black and Decker and share some of the same technology and this is the same as the dewalt, I got this tool free when I bought drill and impact driver combo, this tool works great

      Thats very interesting, thanks for the comment!
      I’ve been considering a battery angle grinder lately, knowing this makes the Craftsman options look very appealing over DeWalt (at half the price), along with how well the Craftsman hammer drill & weed eater have worked out for me.

      @@BrenoAutoGarage I have the Craftsman brushless angle grinder and I was disappointed at how long the 4AH battery lasts when using a wire brush to prep an old trailer for paint. If you only need it for small projects, it would be perfect. But for anything where you’ll be using it for more than 20 minutes at a time (I wasn’t timing how long it lasted unfortunately) go for a corded model.

      Thanks for the comment, I still haven’t had anything to try mine on, but it does sound like battery life is a problem for all the brands. I’ll be keeping my cheapo harbor freight plug in around.
      I saw craftsman 20v batteries 4ah 2 pack for $80 at Lowes currently, not sure if that’s a temporary sale or permanent, but much cheaper than dewalt, milwaukee, etc.

      It still works well. For commercial use I would get one with a vibration control handle. For a DIY person like me it is great though.

    Will this work with 4 inch hole saw through block. ? 1 inch. ? Thanks for any help.

    • @BrenoAutoGarage
      @BrenoAutoGarage  2 года назад

      Craftsman rates this drill with maximum complete hole (solid bit) size of 1 inch. So a 1” hole saw should be no problem. I’m not sure about a 4” hole saw.

      The Craftsman V-Series Brushless are basically identical to the Dewalt 20V Max line. Performance is about the same. The XR line will use the same core design, but with better power management circuitry to get that extra 15% performance and a slightly more durable and dust-resistant housing.
