It works fine for carbon Fiber. I drove 18 hours with no issues, no rubbing. You just need to make sure the arm isn't touching the bike but close to the fork and pulled down so it is secure. They don't recommend "up against fork" but close to fork. It doesnt seem like you have much experience with the bike rack.
Actually Thule comes already with the adapter integrated to the rack just saw a video the strap comes out from the back and goes into another grove that lets it extend longer !
Great review! Do have the same rack and mostly have the same comments as you regarding bike lock and carbon fork. Only thing you missed is that this rack support up to 5.0 inch tires no issue with no additional strap adapter. The strap position can be change (to make it longer) where the rear wheel sits to accommodate those fat bike tires.
When mounting the rack to the hitch, the security pin barely goes in. The hole on the rack and hitch mount are aligned. We removed rack and remounted and still the same issue. Thoughts?
I have the same thing happen with mine. Not sure, but seems like the security pin might be more for ensuring it is far enough in? It’s not a security lock as with with other hitches since the lock is in the handle that turns.
Is that a bloodgood maple ? If its, its not a problem plant it in full sun?
Yes! Good call. Bloodgood Japanese Maple, installed in 2014. Near full sun and not a problem at all.
What size is your fat tire rims? I have 27.5” x 4.5” tires and the hook arm does clear over the wheel to the folk.
