I love purpur and have been using it for over a year at this point! I love the customizability and it even does some tasks async, such as eating food. Even at low TPS, i can still eat food at around the normal rate. Its a small detail but its still cool lol

I've been using Purpur for years as my server jar of choice, and the ability for it to handle dozens of players simultaneously on "lower end" hardware while being insanely customizable has sold me as a life-long user. I shill it every chance I get now! I'm also working on a few custom plugins for my server, and the APIs that Purpur provides make it so so so much easier to develop for (not to mention more performant in the long run). I'm glad someone made a video about the best server software out there :)
wow I knew for a long time that purpur was better than paper but that there are so many settings and the fact that they also build their software on many other forks is really cool. now I like purpur even more thank you for this awesome video. Now I understood the basics of Minecraft server software. Really cool channel I subscribed immediately
Great video. I was looking around to what Purpur was compared to Paper and you explained it perfectly! I'm going to test it out on my servers and see what I can do with it!
Id be interested in a video where you compare different server software performance between each other. I would do this on already running world, new worlds and the perspective from a user and a server owner.
I love Purpur! They're deffo my preferred server software - i prioritize choice & options above all else. I used to be fairly active on Billy's discord server & even helped contribute to a few ideas (not code tho im a shit coder lol)
How does the performance of these bukkit forks compare to fabric optimization mods like lithium and ferritecore? In my experience lithium is faster than paper/purpur on small servers (unless someone is running as lag machine or smth) and doesn’t break any features, while bukkit forks, especially paper, break a lot of features
well i can say only that Purpur neat server core for unvanilla unique minecraft server wich i currently developing (love Skript plugin like this face 6:07) and i can say pufferfish needed only for some hub servers or minigame server when u dont need most of configs and i sure paper is enough for them

@MarkWasTaken , as someone thats tried just about every host out there under a $100, Apex has certainly been some of the top preformers for me worth the cost, even tried things like hostinger, mcprohosting, shockbyte, simplehosting, ect and well apex typically preforms better than each of them. Granted i prefer the control panel of mcprohosting n hostinger, apexes preformance really is just that good. So i tolerate its control panel
@@Cygnus_MC not sure if it's really "optimasation" just turning off features and still running the game slower than sodium. All I see is the fact that on every redstone and farm video is people complaining that the contraption does not work cause it disables basic functions by default which have no bearing on performance cause the devs for paper think they know what should be the defualt behavour. No one builds anything for paper cause it just optimises by switching things off so they should have a huge warning when installing that all farms and redstone will not work on the server. Also side note why does paper still require a restart when changing settings, fabric and others don't require a restart of the server everytime you change a gamerule. Lastly I also hear that devolpers say working with paper's api is just painful. So will concide it might be good for gamemodes but for survival minecraft it plain out sucks and haven't seen a video on it where someone compairs the MSPT of paper where it shows paper in a good light.
@CriticalCipher alright i think the issue here is that you have seen that video and "heared" a lot. Ive worked with paper and purpur for extended periods of my life. I know the bukkit api to a fair extend and can tell you for simple stuff its very very good if a little outdated. Fabric has the advantage of working with a mixins implementation wich for MOST things dont require a reboot, but for some still do. Just because paper isnt redstone friendly doesnt mean it sucks, maybe its not the software you want but that doesnt mean its useless as very large servers still operate on it
@@Cygnus_MC Alright fair. Though have only SEEN that it's performance is worst by someong on the redstone community running a non redstone based iron farm and seeing paper struggle with item entities. And this is all I have to go off since no one outside of the redstone community really seems to yse actual figures and graphs and do the testing required while others seem to only say it feels better but not provide evidence why it's better or what it is doing or sacrificing to get better performance. Also paper shoukd at this point just state on the site when you download that no redstone works on it cause you can look at any redstone discord or youtube video or even ask any of the redstone youtubers and they'll tell you they are tired of getting questions like "will this work on paper", "why doesn't this work on paper". Would love to see a comprehensive video explaining with evidence why each version is good and why one might need one of the other. Like showing how paper many clients paper can handle with no performance loss compared to vinilla or fabric. Do still stand that paper lacking as no one wants to make farms for it as they lack a client version with all the tools needed to test contraptions. But my main thing I wanted to ask is can purpur handle redstone contraptions and farms?
Now hear me out, does that make that software bad? Or does it make it not suitable for you. These behaviour chances can be turned off if they bother you too much
@BEANS_BEANS funny how its either bad or the best thing ever no? If ur that much of a redstone user Fabric is for you, tho calling paper bad just because its not made for your playstyle is where I have an issue
