Today Roberts released the Rambler Classic which is basicly a Rambler Max without the Internet Option. I was thinking just the same about the revival petite and the rambler uno. For me the rotary dials on the rambler uno will make the decision for the rambler but the revival petite 2 is the best option for traveling with usb-c and built in battery. Well christmas is not far away... and for now I am happy with my revival uno in deep green. But you can never have enough roberts or sangean radios in the house! Thanks a lot for this profound review
Hi Dirk, and thank you for the comments! I decided not to keep the Rambler Uno. As much as I do really like it I decided using a Bluetooth speaker paired with my phone (for access to internet radio: soooooo much more choice than DAB) was a better and much cheaper option, and I have kept the Petite if I just want to quickly put the radio on. I did a little video exploring this too. Hope you are well! ✌️✌️✌️
Great review. Thank you! It looks and sounds lovely. A bit clearer than the Mini. Perfect volume and station controls. I like a plug too. This is definitely on my wish list. My only concern is the screen brightness. Can you dim it completely? As on the Mini. Otherwise it lights up the room at night.
@@accoutrements4469 Exactly, radio's from the Chinese Sangean have the same USB port at an impossible place that only can be reached if the cabinet is partially taken apart. It doesn't do anything, there is no interaction with a computer, doesn't charge nor does it send data to the computer. I assume it is only a USB port if the radio is ordered to do so, like during boot up if some buttons are pushed in combination. Interesting but achieved nothing.
Yeah I realised after making this vid that the loudness setting boosts bass at low levels! D’oh! 😖Still doesn’t sound as clear as the petite at low volume with ‘loudness’ off, but the frustrating thing is that the radio does sound better with that setting on so it’s a bit of a pain having to select or deselect it depending on listening volume 🤷♂️

As far as I can tell the Roberts Rambler Max charges via USB(-C?) and has an optional Li-Ion battery. It is almost twice as expensive when including the battery though. Edit: The Max has a powered USB-A port, but charges via a barrel plug.
Thank you for the info! I think the optional li-ion battery is a good idea so it can be easily replaced when it degrades. It’s a very expensive radio though when you can buy a very decent Bluetooth speaker for around£60-£70 & pair it with your phone… still, it’s a lovely looking all-in-one unit though… very tempting!! 🤩

It’s a very nice radio for sure. The screen can indeed be dimmed - I don’t think it’d be too bright in a darkened room. Hope Santa brings you one! 🤞
@3:19 what is that USB port for (under the batteries)?
Hiya. There’s no information whatsoever anywhere about the micro usb port, but I assume it must be for potential software updates ✌️
@@accoutrements4469 I see, thank you. Enjoyed your review

Try turning off the loudness as that is what causes the muddy sound at low volumes

The Petite wins imho
The Petite 2 was a better overall package for my uses anyway 👍
