Oh God I literally stopped renting from Gamefly no more than a year ago and I'm tempted to restart that just for Garfield. Jokes aside, the real trick to note, though, is that Gamefly is absolutely AMAZING for used game sales. I know you joked about "haha used game for 57 bucks instead of 59," but their prices do tend to be pretty decent and they always keep all the cases and manuals with any pre-order shenanigans perfectly intact. The amount of times I bought a used game from them for, like...10-15 bucks and got all the preorder stuff with it is staggering. Back when I subscribed I literally got the PS4 God of War for free. Literally free. Mind you that was from the occasional coupon they'd send for subscribing so like I still had to pay out the nose for a subscription for what I'm pretty sure was mostly just me forgetting to send back Yakuza Remastered Collection for the third straight month BUT HEY LOOK I GOT A FREE GAME OUT OF IT RIGHT? SEE? I WON! I'M BEING THRIFTY, RIGHT? (Also that Darkstar game you showed? I...I actually rented that one. Look I liked spaceship games okay? I was hoping it would be as good as Tachyon: The Fringe.) (It wasn't)
You know what I unironically like, the Nintendo Game Trials they so very rarely do. Basically, if you're a Nintendo Online subscriber, sometimes they will just straight up give you a game for 48 hours up to a whole week. You download it, play it, and it is deleted when the trial ends. You can do it offline, online, TV mode, handheld, it's just like you own the game. And it works so much better than streaming the game. I just wish they did more than 2 games a year.
For me, the rental store was Family Video. The games I remember renting were Kirby Super Star Ultra (technically my first Kirby game), Bakugan Battle Trainer, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, etc, and I remember renting Mario Party 6 from…not Blockbuster, but the name was similar. Not to mention it was next to Little Caesar’s, so that was at least an entire Friday evening covered! However the years moved on, and now the building is an auto shop. Sad days.
Hey there bumbles! Just wanted to say i absolutely adore your style, you have a great personality and the way these videos are made harkens back to the golden age of youtube reviews. Keep doing what you’re doing, i can’t see you not becoming a success soon enough. (P.S i also appreciate the nmh references)
I think physical game rentals are rad, and can be super useful for those who can't always stream or are or a limited internet connection. I'm glad there's at least one kinda sorta decent place left to rent stuff from. 📼
Gamefly does occasionally run really decent deals on barely used games. Which is great given the utter lack of normal price decay on first-party nintendo games. Worth keeping an eye on game deal-centric twitter accounts for, but probably the only thing from GF worth bothering about.
"I don't know what this anime is" Good. The less Fate lore you have forced into your head, the fewer Nasu related aneurysms in your life. Also Kiyohi best girl
i’m rewatching this while half asleep at 6 am and i remembered suddenly that there was a hollywood video in a town i used to live in, and it was still a video rental store until like 2014, but now it’s a liquor store called “hollywood liquor” and it uses half of the old logo
You had a Hollywood Video too? Also, I really do wish we'd get more DVDs again. I don't want 200 streaming platforms. I will GLADLY pay extra to have physical media.
Cool video. Oh! On your Punch-Out video, I think you can add one more infraction to Great Tiger, as it appears that the magic comes from the gem in his Turban. It flashes when magic occurs, and when he passes out it goes nuts, meaning it is indeed a device.
@@bumblesmcfumbles Absolutely. I may be in finals crunch time, but I will recieve my Garf from Gamefly. Edit: I have no idea how to send you the proof that it's there or when I receive it
I know this is partially intrusive but I NEED TO KNOW did you actually receive the prize? I just finished watching the video, on the brink of sleep, then heard Jack whisper about Gameboy Garfield and I'm too curious not to ask.
@@jjjabbers we haven't chatted in a year. Mostly cause I got super busy graduating and getting my job. But one day I will tell the full Garf story. Tldr is that I'm banned from Gamefly but I do have the game
I mean there's lego games like Indy 2, Ninjago movie game, and Movie game 2. Lego overall is a very reliable and solid series but they've definitely had some flops occasionally.
Fate/Stay night is an anime series that was originally a visual novel released in the early 2000s. And now 20 years later we have what ever the fuck Grand Order is
Oh man, I actually had GameFly whennI was younger! I was kinda neat and I got to play some cool games that I wouldn't have been able to play before. I'll be honest, I don't remember too much of it, but I do remember getting the wrong Monsters Inc game from it. It was like a dodgeball game of sorts. It sucks. Gamefly did let me play Battle for Bikini Bottom for the first time so there's that!
Knowing about video rental stores ages you, huh? My local one only closed in 2019, and I got a goodish deal on a couple Switch games when that happened, if only Kirby Dream Collection wasn’t already bought
Dude, my parents would spoil me and my sister when we were kids by taking us to Blockbuster every week or so. (For those wondering, I was born after the millennium changed.)
I member' the ads but I don't think a single person I knew actually used their service. I think at one point I asked my dad if we could try it as our Movie Gallery had shut down. His response why would I pay for that monthly shit when we could just buy the game at X.
Honestly, looking at the Wii Games available for rent... Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn is there. That's actually the cheapest (legal) way to play that game.
I was unironically going to rent Garfield the search for pooky but GameFly is not supported anywhere outside of America Why GameFly am I not allowed to waste my money
If only I didnt already own 17 copies of "Garfield: The Search for Pooky", I'd take you up on that offer.
When Bumbles said, "video rental stores were magical places for country bumpkins," I felt that

Hot damn, you aren't kidding. "The Great ace Attorney" for only $30 on there.
“Mountain Dew water balloon” I love the phrases you just throw around
"I DONT KNOW WHAT [FATE] IS AND I'M TOO SCARED TO ASK"
-guy who's referenced melty blood in like 3 separate videos
Damn yah got me
I remember watching the GameFly commercials as a kid. I thought Gamefly went extinct towards the end of the 2010s.
I don't remember seeing the adverts butt I also could've sworn it didn't make it to the 2020s
Two videos in two days!? Man, this is going to be good!
And to think he put different Yu-Gi-Oh! cards transitions in every video.

Okay mr
A Gamefly video that mentions The Last Mimzi? This is the video for me!
I remember gamefly's commercials
I'm surprised they didn't go bust in like the late 2010's
I can't believe this is still around
Gamefly does occasionally run really decent deals on barely used games. Which is great given the utter lack of normal price decay on first-party nintendo games. Worth keeping an eye on game deal-centric twitter accounts for, but probably the only thing from GF worth bothering about.
So you are telling me the company who bought out a section of gamefly is called EA and then the company who bought them out was called AE
I loved this local video store. I visited the town I grew up in and I was surprised to see it was still kicking.
I feel like I’m the only constant user of this service. It has helped me so so much! I get to experience so many games
"I don't know what this anime is"

Fate is a visual novel where you try to date girls where a battle royal of ancient heroes happening too.
I wasn't expecting to be jump scared by the mention of OnLive
(also my fiancé remembers all these ads suddenly because of this video)

God I remember having Netflix on the Wii. I still have mine I wonder if it still works.
Honestly their used game prices are a step above gamestops.
UPDATE: I just checked and the ONLY GBA game they have now IS NOT Garfield the Search for Pooky byt An American Tail: Fievel's Gold Rush
Blockbuster was amazing
Alright Bumbles, I'll bite. Garf is in my Q.
See it through to the end

I think Bagooska being the Mt. Dew water balloon is very fitting, in JAPAN he is an Alcohol water balloon
Just started the video but going off the title I'm assuming you thought GameFly went out of business only the later discover that they're still around
Some games will never die. Like any Lego game. Those are timeless.
I mean there's lego games like Indy 2, Ninjago movie game, and Movie game 2.
Lego overall is a very reliable and solid series but they've definitely had some flops occasionally.
Netflix DVD service is still alive too!!
"It isn't?!?!"-my reaction upon seeing this video's title
My town still has a functioning Hollywood Video^_^ in the year 2022 of our Lord!!!
GameFly? Why, that's a name I haven't heard since the summer of '83...
Fate/Stay night is an anime series that was originally a visual novel released in the early 2000s.

….. it’s not dead?
….. wow. I have mixed memories, but primarily fond. Sad to see what it’s become.
My parents worked at blockbuster, and I went there so yeah
I thought Gamefly was dead years ago when they stopped showing ads on TV.
Was drinking a glass of water when Megalovania popped in. Thanks for that. XD
Something is coming for Bumbles Mc Fumbles.
What could it be?
I know.
An actual schedule.
I always knew it would last.

Fun Fact: Netflix still allows DVD rentals.
Hollywood Video was my jam. Too bad that’s just a relic of the early 2000’s now.
I swear I saw one add for GameFly once
No way 2 videos?? Yes!
oh hot Dayum i hope you have lots of prizes ready 8D
I remember going to block buster and getting a Pokemon movie collection right before mine Shut down. (It's still somewhere we own)
8:53 I never expected to get the opportunity to climax with Bubbles.
I'm not upset that it that happened, just surprised.
I had Netflix on the Wii as my main way of watching shows..... I'm smart
Knowing about video rental stores ages you, huh? My local one only closed in 2019, and I got a goodish deal on a couple Switch games when that happened, if only Kirby Dream Collection wasn’t already bought
I remember game fly even though I’m 12

Has anyone rented Garfield the search for Pooky yet?
1:25 Do I detect a reference to Mbmbam Mr. McFumbles?
Hey look! I got here in seconds! IM AWESOME!
I got here in many seconds.
Wait, how did Netflix shoot themselves in the foot?

Nice.
Two videos what
So it went from EA to AE. Huh. Alphabetical upgrade?
