My only problem with this is that to me it seems like after eating this even with the best biscuits I still find myself hungry after eating it. Maybe I need a thicker piece of meat with it.
@@reepacheirpfirewalker8629 fried chicken breast with brown onion gravy over thick homemade butter biscuits... Made it for my fam last night they loved it!
"It's not going to be healthy anyway you make it, do it right" AMEN TO THAT BROTHER! Not here to lose weight, we're here to fill bellies with some good eating!
I like to remove the meat, leaving the grease in the pan, then add the flour to make the roux. That way I can control the exact stage of browning the flour gets. The milk can be poured in all at once, it really does make for smother gravy. The meat is added back after the gravy is done.
lol@ "it's not going to be healthy anyway you make, just do it right". You are too funny. I love you!! I made this and all my friends loved it!! Thanks again!!
I've been making this recipe nearly every other week, for about a year. My parents and I love it, and my dad especially raves about it, every time. Thank you so much, for the great recipe and lesson!
I’m from Australia so biscuits are something completely different in my country - I used to actually think you Americans were eating actual biscuits (such as cookies and shortbread) with sausages and making a gravy with it and I was like “Ok then...” ;D
My my my let me tell you that your secret ingredient makes the dish. I just made this just now and my family is enjoying every bit of it. My secret ingredient was a beef cube, which is still delicious. I've never thought about adding worestshire sauce. Thank you!
Just used your video to make my first batch of sausage gravy after 38 years on this Earth🤦🏻♂️ and it turned out awesome. I'm not disappointed I clicked on your video out of the many that were available. Cheers.
I just made this for breakfast and usually I’m not good at it. My southern husband just raved about how great a job I did!! Thank you so much for your delicious recipe!!
I still come back to this recipe. Everyone I’ve made it for says it the best they have ever had. ❤️ I constantly recommend this video for people that ask me for the recipe. 😊
After watching this video last night, I woke up and went to the store, for the ingredients! I had to try it! Omg! My husband was happy! He ate every bite with a Koolaid grin! Many thanks to you for this! I followed the recipe , exactly!! :) very delicious!
🙋🏼Hi, I thought you said you use to be poor. We were so poor that we could only afford a tiny bit of sausage, our sausage gravy was mainly made up of sausage grease with a tiny bit of sausage crumbled it. Or our neighbors would save us their sausage grease to use to make gravy. Nothing ever went to waste. My mom was great at making something out of nothing. Have you ever had vinegar pie? If your poor, and southern, then you know what it is. I can already hear people going "Ewwww!", but when your poor it was a nice treat. My mom made a great vinegar pie. If we were lucky she would make a sweet potato pie. We had chickens even though we lived in the city. I'd love to hear more about you and growing up in your videos. What was your favorite thing your mom use to make for your family? What kinds of things did she cook? I'd love to know. I love the video. Take care, Dee😊👍
Dang, it sounds to me like you were quite well off. When I was a kid dinner most nights was salted cardboard with a side of steamed thistle weed. And we was grateful to have it.
This breaks my heart, I remember my single mother of 4 girls me being the oldest, everything we ate for dinner was dinner for the next day always! Can’t forget all that rice and beans, and a very small piece of chicken we loved it and love our mama!

I tried this recipe it came out excellent. Thanks I cut everything in half I used a half a pound of sausage 2 tablespoons of flour and 2 cups of milk and you’re right the Worcestershire sauce gave it that little extra zing. Delicious
I wish to thank you for this wonderful recipe. I just served it to my husband and he absolutely loved it. I’ve always been intimidated by any type of gravy, however following your instructions carefully it turned out pretty perfect. Love your channel. Thanks again!❤️
I know you made this years ago but I’m just learning to cook. From NC and I will be making this in the morning for the family. Thank you!!!! Looks amazing
my dad used to make thus for me and my brother every Sunday morning and now I'm making it for my two little ones, thanks for giving a quick reminder on how to make it and a few good ideas to make it my own!
I made this for dinner tonight and it came out absolutely amazing. I admit that I was worried about adding the worechestershire sauce, but I added 1/2 a tblsp and it was awesome. Again, all ingredients are to taste, and I only added 1/2 tblsp of black pepper. It was to die for. Tasted great! Thanks for the recipe. I give this 👍👍
+Christine Carter Thank you very much Christine!! I gotta admit the Worcestershire sauce sounds odd, but it adds a slight 'hmmmm what's that flavor'! Glad you enjoyed it!! Larrry
I made this recipe last night. I used local Mennonite sausage and it was fantastic. I used your biscuit recipe as well and they go together quite well. Thanks for sharing your recipe
I just came upon this video and made it tonight. Hands down thought you were crazy with the wourstishire sauce but it is delicious. It was a hit at my house. Thank you
one thing that's key here is him adding the flour to the meat first then cooking for 2-3 mins. The other key thing one must know is that the milk has to simmer/boil, before any thickening occurs. Great basic method here
Just watched this video after a vacation to Nashville and made some gravy using locally made sausage!!! Oh my god it was good. So simply and delicious!
I have been struggling with lumpy flour-ball gravy for awhile and your method really worked so much better for me. I definitely agree the Worcestershire sauce gives it that something special, and I passed that tip on to my Mom.
I’m gonna try the Worcester Shire sauce. Here’s my gravy. 1 lb jd Hot sausage. Brown it of course. 2 Heaping Spoons of flour. Salt and pepper to taste. Milk (1 qt) . Heat and stir until it thickens. Serve on biscuits, toast or French Fries
I’m 68 y/o and just this morning made biscuits and sausage gravy for the first time and I knocked it out of the park. It came out just like yours and I added a couple of eggs 🍳 over easy on the side. Gonna have the rest tomorrow morning can’t wait 😛.
I just got done making this, gluten free of course! The what's-this-here sauce adds a depth of flavor, it made it a little sweet. This over our gluten free biscuits was really good!!

My rule for sausage gravy is, if you think you have enough pepper, add more pepper!
Right... why is it that the pepper makes the gravy lol
That is a fact!
I absolitely loved watching him dump ALL that pepper in it! lol I LOVE black pepper on everything! 😅😎🖒🖒💗💗
Absolutely! Worcestershire Sauce is a must for me!
Probably the best looking gravy i've seen out of all the youtube videos of this. Thickness and sausage portion looks dead on. makes me hungry.

can you make the gravy with out the sausage ?????????
