bro you saved me a headache trying to find this oil leak. Sure enough lots of oil on the backside of the engine where the vtec is. Waiting on parts to come in the mail. THANKS!
Thank you for this video, I got oil leaking on the passenger side exactly from that area you specified, I’ll talk to my mechanic about it, definitely earned a sub
It's VTEC but the cam timing is controlled to increase economy not to increase increase power. The fuel economy cam timing is used from 1500 to 3500 rpm if I remember correctly. It will never produce the "vtec kicked in" experience but you can notice the power increase as you pass 3500 in a low gear.
That was a major leak.. Few hundred to fix in a shop I'm sure. But a short socket, 3 bolts n back on the road, ,str8 like DAT ..thanks for your knowledge again
got my subscription! I had to do this fix this morning along with the valve cover gasket. Still got a little bit of rattling so next is the belt tensioner and I should be good to go.
very good explanation of the common problem with Hondas, My wife has almost 400, 000 miles on her 2006 civic, which I've done most of the maintenance on. I couldn't see where the 3 bolts were located? It looked like the back side?
nice job bro, this really simple and very useful, we can learn alot from this, tks alot, I'm driving 1992 accord with no VTEC, and it's working great, often do maintenance by myself, just subscribe to support your channel

Hello, thank you for sharing, it helps a lot. I have the same problem, the technician guy told me its from the steering power pump. Please give me your feedback.
these cars have a common issue w the power steering pump gaskets and vtech selonoid it could be both of them to find out take a ragg n whipe the areas where is leaking from n smelled to see if its oil or ps fluid.
I have a 2008 Civic LX (not VTEC) with a leaking valve cover gasket. I was going to change the valve cover gasket, but maybe I should also change this? Sounds like the car you worked on was an LX (not VTEC) too. Thanks
How do i pin point the leak is actually coming from the Vtec solenoid? i can only see oil from the bottom like your car but can’t really see where it’s coming from. 2007 honda civic 1.8 sedan
Question, i have a 2013 civic ex that seems very sluggish at acceleration. The vtec solenoid is NOT leaking NOR do I have any check engine light, it does however make a slight clicking noise as the car idles and appears to be coming from the solenoid. I am going to be removing it to check it out but was wondering if you think my symptoms without the leak and check engine light would make the Solenoid the issue?
@@juniormartinez2586 the cat is fine, just passed smog and it would give me a CEL if it was bad. I just dont know if the solenoids make some sort of noise when they go bad
While driving on the highway the engine sputtered for a couple seconds then check engine light and after 10 seconds the oil light came on. Huge oil leak on pass side. Do those symptoms feel like this could be my issue? Saludos.
@@juniormartinez2586 thanks so much for replying so quickly. But the problem there is I’m worried that I’ll scratch the metal, it seems any contact scratches it. And it is really really stuck

You think it could be the PCV valve?
It could be a few things clean all areas and the watch where is pouring from
Does oil usually drop to the ground and leave big round spots? I’m trying to figure out a leak on my 2010 civic EX 1.8? Thanks
If it is on the passenger side most likely it is
If it's round it's the power steering . If it's what this man Is talking about there will be splashes everywhere instead of a circle
Thank you for this enlightenment.
