Good to see you wore your ear muffs for this testing. I'm old and have constant ringing in my ears, there is no cure, it sucks. If I could go back in time I'd slap myself for not using them.
Can't wait for mine to arrive. Lifetime tile guy and kids and young men/women take it from us old timers, you can only hurt your hearing so please take care of it. Ear plugs/muffs always. And if your job doesn't require crazy torque like mine, then get yourself quieter tools.
👍That's the review I was looking for I had the dcf601, dcd701 and dcf801, now i have the dcd703. I kept documented the specs of all of them, I measured myself. The quietest one is the 601 I don't think that the 870 is as quiet Weightwise, the 703 basic tool is 687g and the 601 is 676g = the 703 is 11g heavier than the 601 The 801 has 794g My hope : the next upgrade of the 601 will be more powerful or a 12v version of the 870 and even quieter
I love 12v extreme lineup. However, I am always second guessing in investing more in that platform whether Dewalt will expand on them. I am currently on 20v with some 12v and always struggling to move away completely from m12. If it wasn't for the m12 fat grip and battery clips breaking, I would already be on m12 with no need for any Dewalt.
Yeah, decibels are a logarithmic scale. A 10 db difference is 10x the power and generally considered 2x the perceived volume. So it’s fair to say this will sound about half as loud as the other impact driver and from an ear safety standpoint the difference is even greater.
Yes, it is noticeably quieter, especially on littler fasteners on bigger fasteners. It’s a little louder than I would like, but I don’t deal with them very often.
It's really quiet at low rpm compared to a regular impact. But Is pretty loud at full rpms. Dewalt and milwaukee let us down with their hydraulic impacts. Only rigid has pulled it off

It sounds a lot like the Ridgid Stealth Force R86036. Can't wait to try this one out
That dcf601 screwdriver is my MVP. Love that thing. Between it and an M12 surge, I rarely need anything more
I only wish DeWalt would offer something like the 870-m12 surge in 12v.
@@J.Wick. i’m hoping they come out with one soon! I prefer 12V cheaper and smaller easier to take places.
@@mowork8468 yes. me too.
Could you explain why you would use a impact driver instead of a drill machine?
Yes, the extreme screwdriver is so underrated.

how did you get it so fast have had on order for over a month from acme tools
Same ordered from Acme about a month ago, got it yesterday, hopefully it’ll be sending out yours soon.
10 decibels is actually a lot quieter. dBs are measured logarithmically
you are professor🎉
Where did you Buy an 870 from if i may ask?
Acme tools

Yeah the 12v stuff is awesome!
Looks like a 11 DB difference… that is significant…. Falls below the ear damage threshold.

@@quinnreilly7681 yeah, you can safely handle the hydraulic's DB levels for 3 hours straight according to the safety charts. BIG difference.
Is it noticeably quieter than the other impacts?

yes
Is this not in the US or something?
Yea I’m in the US
@mowork8468 did you just get it super early? I haven't seen it anywhere else
@@walterbwdyeah I guess I just got lucky ordered it from Acme about a month ago
You definitely need to get yourself some of them 5ah 12v batrees. Those are the cats ass
Those 12v dewalts are drills not impacts
Yep
Dude maybe you caught a Bad one , because that thing is Loud as Hell .....
