  • 05.23.2020 | 2:30 PM | DOWNEY - A hit-and-run driver that left two people dead was caught with the help of a dashcam and photojournalist who caught the crash on camera, Saturday afternoon.
The collision occurred on the southbound I-5 Freeway just north of Paramount Boulevard around 2:30 PM when a white Fiat 500 rear-ended a red Nissan Sentra forcing it down an embankment.
Both occupants inside the Nissan, a female driver and male passenger, were killed instantly when their slammed head-on into a tree at the bottom of the dirt embankment.
The driver of the Fiat who caused the fatal crash fled the scene without stopping and quickly exited the freeway.
An OnScene.TV photojournalist whose dashcam recorded the crash immediately contacted law enforcement and followed the Fiat off the freeway.
The suspect pulled over at the intersection of Florence and Newville avenues where he exited his vehicle and inspected it for damage before getting back in and continuing to drive away.
Officers in the area finally stopped and detained the driver of the Fiat at the intersection of Florence Avenue and Studebaker Road after being guided in by the photojournalist.
After reviewing dashcam footage of the crash the driver of the Fiat, identified as 24-year-old Cash Rencanzone of Peoria, Arizona, was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
Police later identified one of the deceased victims as 32-year-old Aide Bustamante of Huntington Beach. The other deceased victim, believed to be the driver, was described only as a female adult.
Anyone with additional information regarding the fatal hit-and-run crash is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol's Santa Fe Springs Office at (862) 868-0503.

Silver spoon used to mean....rich (born with a silver spoon in their mouths)....I guess not so now a days. I'm not sure of the social status of the young bloke that drives the Fiat but, he clearly fled after deliberately shunting that other vehicle. His only thought was getting away, and not one was spent on the possible condition of the passengers in the other vehicle. Thankfully, in this day and age, it's more difficult to commit such crimes and not be video recorded. So sad that in a matter of a few seconds lives were cut short, and loved ones were left with just memories....and one burning question....why? Personally, this screams road rage. When the victim's car moved over in front of the Fiat, you can tell that young bloke accelerated and rammed the victim's car. I seriously doubt his intentions were to ram the car off the road and kill the 2 passengers but, that was the end result of his careless actions. He's going to have many many years to contemplate his actions, or reactions. Not only did he break the hearts of the victims' loved ones, he broke the hearts of his as well. Very sad situation.

Although he may not serve a life sentence, those two innocent souls he took away for looking at his phone (what people do 99.99% of the time when they drive reckless) for that split second is not worth it. When you drive, the only important thing you should do is look at the road in front of you and look out for one another. Anger is one letter away from danger! I drive on the section of the freeway everyday to work and I see all kinds of stupid driving down that highway. Not one days goes by where I witness reckless drivers, especially now with this pandemic. People are turning the freeways into raceways. SMDH...

Bro if you have driving skills you can tail gate, that guy wasn't paying attention, I drive assertive because everyone in California drive like they are all on their phone in LALA land. That dude was probably on his phone which is why he rear ended him, his hair got in his face and he was on drugs I bet... Look slow drivers in the right lane, fast experienced drivers in he left lane.. but no.... everyone wants to drive the same dam speed and crash into each other. I drive alert, aggressive, smart, and i'm paying attention at all time, that would of never happen to me but yes poor people RIP, I think a women was driving because she got spooked and jerked the wheel, she should of stayed calm. Everyone asks me why i'm always so serious and it's because every time I do something I think i'm be alert in case shit happens, especially in California I got his in INN and OUT drive thru from DUI driver.

I would be willing to bet that’s exactly what caused this. My brother rolled his truck when he was younger hitting a whipit while driving down the highway. His truck was flattened and he got very lucky to only have minor injuries and not hit anyone else. Whipits can cause quite a bit of disorientation in that initial burst so needless to say it would seem not smart to do while driving.

It looks as if the Fiat driver fell asleep. He was headed for the path the Sentra took. Big mistake fleeing a fatal accident. He didn't know it was fatal, but that changes nothing. It's still a felony. The women in the Sentra were very unlucky. Just a few feet farther and they would've hit the barrier and likely survived. But they would've also survived had the driver been more skilled at the wheel. Anybody can drive straight at 65 mph, but hardly anyone is skilled enough to deal with the unexpected at that speed. Had she not overcorrected the tail spin, she would've stayed on the road and perhaps hit nothing. It pays to develop advanced car control skills. You never know when your life may depend on it.
