Yes you can mix in a cooking pot and place directly on your source of heat I did mine that way for the sake of the tutorial

Can I omit the calcium in the soap making?

You know its a profitable bar soap where the quantity of the water and calcium carbonate are increase to yield more soap so if you want to remove calcium carbonate you will need another formulation.but if you have kaolin you can replace it with calcium carbonate okay
