Before trying this you might want to tighten the locking mechanism of the zipper. It only takes pliers. It worked on my zipper.

I have a pair of sandals that are brand new and have this problem, the zipper doesnt stay up and i end up walking about 10 steps and have to stop to zip them up again, any tricks to fix this?

+DS Games check that the slider pull is all the way down after zipping them. The pull is the mechanism that releases the lock to keep the zipper from falling. If it keeps falling, then I would suspect the slider is damaged. You'll have to replace the slider. It doesn't matter. The slider is usually the problem when it doesn't stay up.

Why do you remove the top teeth before reattaching the stops?

+Melissa Jacobi removing the top teeth will give you a little room to put the slider back on. Then you will use the top stops to hide where you removed the teeth. If you were to put the stops on, then remove the teeth, you'll have a large gap between the top tooth and the stop. This gap will make the slider catch at the point and you'll have to adjust the top stops down to remedy it.
