D-45, stunningly beautiful guitar both to listen to and to look at. I have a 2008 Martin D-28 Marquis. I'm plenty happy... Adirondack top, 1.75 nut, 2 5/16" at the bridge, forward shifted 5/16" bracing, adjustable truss rod, wonderful tone and that special Martin whump bass.
The vintage ones sound better. Not because of the age the wood took, but because of the Brazilian Rosewood. That is THEE wood for any string instrument. I wonder if the iconic Stradivarius violin was made from Brazilian rosewood.
@@CenobiteBeldar I have spoken to many luthiers, and every one said that while Brazilian rosewood looks nice, it does not generically sound different or better than Indian rosewood. Of course, individual pieces of wood have their own character, but in this case, those two woods are not always one way or the other. Every guitar sounds different from every other one. Sometimes vintage instruments sound better, sometimes not, and the reasons for how they sound include many factors in addition to the wood they are made of. Many guitars, violins, violas, basses, etc. have no Brazilian rosewood or any rosewood all and sound wonderful. No, Strads were not made with Brazilian rosewood, but you don't have to wonder, you could have found that out for yourself with the slightest effort instead of posing a ridiculous question.
The "spec" is close, though the wood grade in the 40 series is always at least one step higher. The inlay changes the sound. Most agree it's for the better. You're cutting a groove in the wood, that changes its tonal properties somewhat. And since I love abalone shell, I've no problem with the inlays visually.
I played a new D45 a few years ago in a music store and not only was it beautiful it was a cannon Alas, too expensive for me then and still too expensive for me now However, it would be the first acoustic I would probably buy if I had the money
No no no , you could have a same guitar cheaper, with the same quality Woods . Research on the web.Martin play with their famous brand. 10 000 € are you crazy ? I will buy it when i will be famous only but i’ll never....
I've heard some GREAT sounding D45s before but that particular one he's playing didn't sound like a 10,000 dollar guitar. Didn't care for it really. My HD-28 sounds way better
I agree. There was some sparkle or resonance missing. Prob just needs to be played and time. The playing was excellent. I'm gonna steal that picking riff!
Brian, I just love your reviews. You bring such talent, along with a pleasant personality and delivery.
I have a feeling this man could make my $50 garage find guitar sound great.
Need to know the jam he plays at 2:04, looks fun to learn and play
My dream guitar, for sure! I will own one some day soon!
You play really good! Amazing picking, great tone, keep it up!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful guitar
The D-45 is like Louie the XIV. It has its own spotlight.
Love the playing
God, willing, I'll be able to buy one of these for my brother someday.
What's the name of the first song he is playing sounds sweet with the strumming
Wow beautiful guitar

Wow. Loved your guitar playing, especially that first strumming you started. What is that tune please at 1:32? Thanks

I can’t see any justification in the 45. My pops got a d28 and I can’t see or hear a 7k price gap
What was the name of the finger picking song? I would love to learn it.
The song he plays at 1:41 is Diddie Wah Diddie by Blind Blake. I recommend looking up the Ry Cooder version as well.
The guitar I want the most to own the d45
45s sound so good. I understand that they use specially selected wood for them and they sound it.

They won’t give you enough money for one kidney to pay for this guitar. You have to throw in a lung.
Dude let's do that together
Fun fact: your kidneys regrow
@@dorkle9085 oh shit really?
Well guys I guess we should all start a business selling kidneys
This sounds exactly like my £59 Aria I just bought off Reverb 👍
Killer playing, does Brian have an album?
D 45 (China) Sounds even better than 9900 USA model!
Too pimpy. Isn't the spec identical to a D-28, other than the abalone trim?
HD-28. To understand the appeal, you need to play one. microphones and cameras dont do it justice.
Nope. The 4 series gets the best wood.
