+Buller Thank you. I can see how most reviews rely on decent research and knowledge... but I think I'd like to have seen more off-the-cuff 'reviews' like this over the years. Honestly, can't remember seeing any? Then again, these videos can't be monetised so the bigger channels would never do them!
A lot of these reviews have been for albums I'm also listening to for the first time. Having a buddy to be surprised with, or comment on details and possible influence, in the moment as the songs hit is fun and has been a wild ride. I wouldn't change a thing about what you've been doing. Also, are you familiar with Ween? I have a feeling you would really enjoy some of their albums. The Mollusk is a great entry album to the band.
The album is about breaking up and moving on from references to song names like let it happen yes im changing and the last song new person, same old mistakes its a great relaxing album to put on im glad you finally got to listen to it :) cheers from Canada!!
Its amazing how YES, IM CHANGING can make people stop and think about the lyrics... Parker is a fucking genius, and knowing that the album was made after a break up... it is just true feelings and thoughts of himself... best album of the decade

Let it Happen is such an amazing song. It has this alien, euphoria driven beat, while lyrically it could easily be about some dark subject matter, such as suicide. As a result I have such a strange emotional response whenever I listen to it, like a kind of ecstasy infused tragedy.
This is exactly how I feel about Tame Impala. Kevin's sounds fills me with overwhelming euphoria and melancholy at the same time. It also has the effect of making whatever you are doing while listening feel very significant
I’ve watched these videos so many times at this point, I almost feel lonely when listening to Tame Impala without Mercurial#6. I genuinly have this video playing while at work
So Mercurial you popped up in my recommended and I’ve just watched back-to-back your Lonerism, Innerspeaker and Currents video’s on a Friday night. I’ve seen these guys since their early days performing in the pubs around Fremantle. Kevin has come a long way in 10 years.
this album in concert is honestly mind blowing. the synths, watching kevin’s performance how he pairs the music with effects ugh so good i almost cried when he opened with let it happen and let the build up just /go/ on and on. it’s something surreal and to be experiencing it with other people is the best part gossip’s interlude in concert as well is worthy of so much publicity because of the production value you should really go see his lp4 tour when he comes around to you. it’s a thing of dreams
The Gossip > Less I Know The Better transition is amazing live. I think it's pretty incredible on the album too. Shame they split it across sides on the vinyl.
I originally came here to watch your brain get blown by “Yes I’m Changing” but you are someone that appreciates music to its fullest and I can’t tell you how hard it is to find someone that enjoys music the same way I do. So thanks 😊
the Mecurial number Six when he likes a song: Airdrumming with a knife, singing, moving, dancing, commenting the Mecurail number Six when he *really* likes a song: complete silence
I think he should do The Weather. It's better produced than anything Pond have ever done in the past and I think the whole songwriting is a lot better than it used to be.
I'm late to the party with this video, but I've got to say, the first 8 tracks are about as perfect an album as can be made. Its there with Dark Side of the Moon and Lateralus.
One of the best albums of the decade for me. Tame Impala, especially now has such a full sound. There's really no other band like them. Currents to me is not an album you listen to one time.. I've been listening for 3 years now and it's still such a full sound, very psychedelic journey. Again, I repeat, this album is not one you play through and you have an opinion right away on. This album is so full, there's a reason why Kevin Parker & Tame Impala take so long mastering their music. I don't mean to reccomend music to listen to, but checkout Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear or Beach House - Bloom ( both amazing artists).
I took 5 years to record The Only Way Out is Through. Took 10 years to record an album before that! Ha ha! But I know what you mean. :-) I think Currents is superb! It will certainly be getting more listens from me! Thanks for watching.

Dude. You are the friend I’ve always wanted in my life. Yessss. Second video I’ve watched of you (thanks Kenneth 👮🏼♂️) and I stayed for the entire hour+. Your excitement and knowledge of music is 🤯. That John Lennon comparison was LEGENDARY. I love music so much but am not “musical sound” or whatever the saying is and I consume so much music knowing it’s good but no idea what to compare it to so I can do my history but that Lennon comparison made me understand how great this album and artists are. Annnd I can look into the artists that Kevin takes inspiration from and pay my respects to those previous bands as well. I’m a fan two videos in.
This is my first video of your channel. 2 minutes in: "What am I watching? What mercenaries? What are you talking about? Wait what?" 18 minutes in: Guy is jamming with a bread knife to The Moment... This is the best thing ever.
Really enjoyed your Innerspeaker review and watching this I couldn't wait for you to get to "Yes, I'm changing" and LMFAO seeing how powerful the affect it had on you, my favorite on the album. Checking out your Lonerism vid now. Should review some Alabama Shakes, Mac Demarco, Drug dealer, or Childish Gambino. Cheers
Fantastic song and a solid album. I get a sense that Tame Impala fans were not fond of this more electro direction? I think it might just be my favourite of the three.
Lonerism is mine but the man knows how to use a synth, you gotta give him that, that's one of the reasons why his music is gold. And I swear the movie Drive was an inspiration for Currents cuz it sounds A LOT like the soundtrack. Also Mild High Club is a definitely a band to check out, but you got a lot on your list.
yes i'm changing always reminded me of a warm blanket and a cup of coffee on a rainy day. when he started to react to it, it brought tears to my eyes seeing him losing himself in the music, absolutely beautiful.
Clicked on this as soon as I got the notification! Since you really dig this, I'd definitely recommend checking out their Deezer Session from a few years back. Seeing how they bring Let It Happen and The Less I Know the Better to life in a live setting is nothing short of magical.
+KinrossSkate08 Ahhh.... well that does occasionally shine through! I bloody love the drums. Wear my bloody trousers out drumming on my thighs all day long!
The Mercurial Number Six shame youtube is being silly with your newer videos! Although I’ve happily bookmarked your website. If I get a chance to see the guys from Tame, when they’re next in Freo I will definitely tell them about this ;)
Thank you for actually reading my comment, responding, and mentioning me in the video itself for the recommendation! It's channels like yours that are the quintessential essence of the RUclips community.
@12:43 Lonerism was mastered by Dave Fridmann at Tarbox Road Studios in Fredonia, NY. Fun fact, he was actually responsible for all of the mixing for MGMT and The Flaming Lips as well. He's got quite the legacy!
+Creaturefiendyo I will. There's a book in the background of this video regarding time which I need to read! Give me the time, I'll give you the reviews! Thanks for watching. Always appreciated! :-)
I have been watching you’re videos since I first stumbled upon your reaction video of Flying Microtonal Banana. I’m an Australian who’s super into music from bands like Tame Impala and King Gizz to Tool and Radiohead. I think a lot of Australian acts seem to get a bit all grouped in together and it’s so great seeing someone like you treating them for what they are, incredible artists. Anyway, I’m loving what you’re doing more and more and you shouldn’t change a thing.
Thank you Joe! I don't think I could change anything even if I wanted to! The downside is that I'll never be a 'big' RUclipsr. The upside is that I can carry on being me!
I love watching your reaction. I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH! It means a lot to me, I broke up with a narcissistic bf who crushed my soul I'm recovering, yes I'm changing, im a new person and there's faith because Tame Impala exists!
Thanks for the mention at the start Mercurial (assuming i was the only James H that commented on your last Tame video) been waiting for this... when i saw the thumbnail i chucked the headphones in and knew i was in good hands for an hour. Your videos are great, your humor is great and everything you do is fantastic. I know you will get around to it ;) and i know records cost money and filming takes time, but i cant wait until you do innerspeaker. Give me that excitement of seeing that thumbnail in another couple'a months! Big love from down under ya legend!
I discovered your channel because I love Morbid Angel and enjoyed your listen throughs of my 4 favorite Morbid Angel albums. I remember around Formulas Fatal to the Flesh you were saying you were probably going to remain with a cut following and low RUclips views, well my friend I am very happy to see you getting in the thousands of views now. It’s been something since the days of Blessed are the Sick hasn’t it? Be safe and well my mercenary 🤜🤛
Cheers mate! It's been a long old slog hasn't it? I'm just trying to listen to a lot of records now and a few more people have decided to come along for the ride. Thanks for watching. :-)
just finished watching this video here in 2021 land, this is the first time i found your channel and I have to say i really enjoyed hanging out with you here for this! I had only known "The Less I Know the Better" from this album previously, but i was happy to have went along with you for the ride!

this is exactly how i feel watching this right now lol
I love when people listen to Let It Happen for the first time lol that broken record part gets everyone.

The Mercurial Number Six Haha oops, you should listen to the Currents B-sides, the song ‘Taxi’s here’ is quite similar to Yes I’m changing!
+Stephen Robertson Will do.
Yes I’m changing literally floored you and rightly so. It’s a beautiful song

As long as you're out of knife territory.
Imo innerspeaker is very 60s, lonerism is very 70s and currents is very 80s. I’m expecting grunge for his next album lmao
lmao. if Kevin takes influence from Loveless and Screamadelica for a 90s sounding album, I would flip my shit

The Mercurial Number Six This is very true. You're thoroughly entertaining, without sacrificing your own attention to the music. I dig.
It's ridiculous how all of Kevin's songs can be so consistent. Different sounds but always the same result of absolutely blissful listening.

I love watching your reaction. I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH! It means a lot to me, I broke up with a narcissistic bf who crushed my soul I'm recovering, yes I'm changing, im a new person and there's faith because Tame Impala exists!
"I like that"
Yeah, me too dude
Thanks for the mention at the start Mercurial (assuming i was the only James H that commented on your last Tame video) been waiting for this... when i saw the thumbnail i chucked the headphones in and knew i was in good hands for an hour. Your videos are great, your humor is great and everything you do is fantastic. I know you will get around to it ;) and i know records cost money and filming takes time, but i cant wait until you do innerspeaker. Give me that excitement of seeing that thumbnail in another couple'a months!
Big love from down under ya legend!
+james hill Thanks James! It's comments like this that make my day and keep me going.
When you said tell my lover im sorry or tell my mother im sorry.... i really felt
My dude you have to do inner speaker next. He recorded the whole thing on and old boss 8 track. But it’s still his best album in my opinion
Just now tuning in and I’m so glad I have 😂 very awesome review.
Cheers! :-)
THESE PRETZELS ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY
Reality In Motion :')
Couldn't think of a better way to spend an 1:04:15 of my day.
i agree, also i’m bored being stuck at home so it’s even better
You could listen to more albums with me that you'd never have even considered... like I did when I originally listened to them!
