Dude, the only Slasher-type movies that have ever scared me are The Terminator and Predator. Myers was beaten up by a teenage babysitter, but Predator and Terminator actually took skill. Skills I don't/didn't have 😂 I'm so glad you put them on your list! Great video.
and Myers wasn't "beaten up by a teenage babysitter", she was completely helpless in part 2 and in part 1 she stabbed him a couple of times ... but you're correct in the sense that T-800 and Predator would own Michael Myers in a fight, hell, even Jason would get owned
Very cool list, and even thought I disagree, I totally get every one of your choices. I appreciate your perspective because you were born in the 1980's and are looking at these films in hindsight.I was born in the 1960's, so I watched most of these movies of the '80's in the theater when they came out. I would choose, for instance, 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' over 'The Terminator' (although both are great films) because the actual theatrical horror experience of 'Nightmare' was far more intense. The audience for that picture was there to see a horror film, and they responded to it as a horror audience would respond... plus, you must remember, in 1984, we had never seen anything like Freddy Krueger and the nightmare dreamscape, so we were pretty traumatized. 'Terminator,' on the other hand, played like an action film with horror elements, and the opening weekend crowds were action movie audiences. As such, the horror elements of that film didn't resonate until weeks later, when I rewatched the film at a midnight movie with an entirely different theatrical vibe. Great channel; I subscribed. We horror geeks have to stick together.

This just came up for me and I really liked your presentation. Well thought out but clearly has feeling behind the choices. I follow several movie channels and some lean heavily towards horror content. I also love making mental list like these. Although I've recently tried to watch more movies as a viewer, most of my fascination with horror was always in the making of those movies because they often had so many elements. Some of my favourite movies have had horror elements, the first 2 Predators and the first 3 Aliens (Yes I like Alien 3 and I'm not ashamed to admit it) Most of your list is, what I would call, pure horror I feel you made good choices with Terminator and Predator. I've said this before, I remember seeing Fright Night a long time ago on TV. There had to have been some severe cuts made because I saw it late afternoon or in the evening, but not late at night. If I had to have guessed the tone of it i'd have put it in the same category as Gremlins, with a strong element of humour. Although it does have humour, there are clearly some dark and sinister moments.
Everyone has different tastes and the 80s were loaded with great horror movies. For me I would go with the following for each year of the 1980s. 1980: The Fog 1981: American Werewolf In London 1982: The Thing 1983: Something Wicked This Way Comes 1984: The Company Of Wolves 1985: Fright Night 1986: Vamp 1987: Prince of Darkness 1988: Child’s Play 1989: Leviathan These are my best horror movies of each year in the 1980s. I will say I feel my selection of best horror movies in each year is strong and solid and stacks up against others. Again my tastes may not be your tastes.
@@JoshMinyardsome horror movies from the 1980s you might want to watch: The Tomb, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Howling 4 The Original Nightmare, Critters, The Curse, 976-Evil, Specters, The Changeling, Monster Squad, Bad Dreams, Life Force, Near Dark, and The Beast Within are some good ones.
1982 is an AMAZING year in film. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE "THE THING!!!!" However I'm in the smallest of small group who likes POLTERGEIST just the tinest bit better. I wish they came out in different years just so I don't have to make that choice.
1980: The Shining 1981: The Burning 1982: Friday The 13th Part 3 1983: Psycho III 1984: A Nightmare On Elm Street 1985: Friday The 13th Part 5 A New Beginning 1986: The Fly 1987: Predator 1988: Pumpkinhead 1989: Only seen Halloween 5, Friday 8 and Elm Street 5, wasn't a fan
@@SierenH We all have our scenes we don't like to watch. I grew up with a Howie Mandell movie from 1989 called _Little Monsters_ and it's one of the most disgusting children's movies. I've never liked it. And I'll never know why so many 80's and 90's kids movies were so gross.
@@fluorescentmilkshake same here....but even now, even though its calmed, there are still someof horror movies that are to bloody Even the saw movies are to much for me...nevermind Hostel...wtf?
I hate to tell you this the movie predator is not a horror film at all. Yeah, I agree it has some cool, kills in it by the Yucha Hunter that this predator is in fact, not a villain is a misunderstood alien that felt threatened because of that platoon of soldiers and Apollo, Creed, and, Arnold Schwarzenegger was armed for that one girl. He did Baar to kill her because she was not armed at all so there’s no way it is a horror film so you would have to understand that this one is an action sci-fi movie not a horror film but yes, it is somewhat as horror film Kind of but as for the movie terminator, that is not a horror film there’s an action sci-fi movie just like the predator movie I mean don’t get me wrong. I do love those movies because both of them has Arnold Schwarzenegger in it but you have to know that and understand where I’m coming from with this I grew up in the era And I hope that this hope you understand it better
I'm with you... I mean, in a way _Predator_ is a horror film. It's gory. There's a monster. It's scary if it scares you. But, artistically, it's not really horror.
Dude, the only Slasher-type movies that have ever scared me are The Terminator and Predator. Myers was beaten up by a teenage babysitter, but Predator and Terminator actually took skill. Skills I don't/didn't have 😂 I'm so glad you put them on your list!
Great video.
Terminator and Predator are NOT slashers, they are killer cyborgs and hunter aliens ...
and Myers wasn't "beaten up by a teenage babysitter", she was completely helpless in part 2 and in part 1 she stabbed him a couple of times ... but you're correct in the sense that T-800 and Predator would own Michael Myers in a fight, hell, even Jason would get owned
Also agree that "Predator" is a superb horror movie, and "Child's Play" is an underrated gem.
Predator is not horror it's action try again

1. before I say the name of this film, the director absolutely did not deserve to be LET OUT of prison early / that was a great injustice, he did the crime and it's unfathomable that he was not jailed for AT LEAST 5 years. Also, because this film literally STARS the victim of the crime and features references to the actual crime itself and puts the underage actor in terror situations involving older men / etc ...
HOWEVER, as a piece of art, the writing and directing and filmmaking and craftsmanship? It's one of the best films of the decade and that sickens me as a child of abuse myself, as a gay man who does NOT in any way support a person like this director, Victor Salva...
That movie is _Clownhouse._ I remove it from ALL my Horror Ranking lists except the 1989 list. That's the only list where I give it credit. The only one.
It's not easy to say it's a good movie because the director did such a horrible thing. But, thankfully, I don't think it will ever be released on home video again since the child in the film was a minor at the time. I don't even think it should be seen by anyone anymore. Good choices! Very glad to see someone else who appreciates the horror movie vibe of "The Terminator." I like it more than "Terminator 2."
Thanks for this bro. I'm making a list for this Christmas:)
here's my list (so far):
1980: Dressed to Kill (slightly better than The Shining, but far better pacing ... haven't seen The Fog yet, Friday the 13th was okay but nothing special, especially compared to the later installments),
1981: Halloween II (DUH lol, although I'm sure Omen III - The Final Conflict and the original Howling are distant yet honorable mentions regardless, Friday the 13th part 2 was okay but nowhere near the same level as Halloween II and to this day I still can't figure out for the life of me why people even bother comparing the 2 slasher flicks),
1982: Halloween III - Season of the Witch (became a cult classic),
1983: Friday the 13th part 3(-D) (among the best Friday the 13th movies IMO, Jaws 3(-D) simply doesn't cut it for me although a fun sequel and I haven't seen Christine and Sleepaway Camp yet so can't judge),
1984: Terminator (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Children of the Corn and Friday the 13th part IV - The Final Chapter were all a very close 2nd, 3rd and 4th),
1985: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge ('85 wasn't such a great year for horror movies it would seem, haven't seen Fright Night yet though),
1986: Manhunter (I count thrillers as horror movies too, haven't seen The Fly or Night of the Creeps yet and never cared for the massively overrated Friday the 13th part VI - Jason Lives),
1987: Hellraiser (I liked Jaws the Revenge (yes, sue me, blame nostalgia), but it's nowhere near the same level and I'm sure Evil Dead 2 could arguably give it a half-way decent run for its' money popularity wise, but I haven't seen it yet, so ... Predator was okay but I fail to see the hype beyond Arnold Schwarzenegger being iconic as usual, it still pales compared to him playing T-800),
1988: Child's Play (Chucky's best and first movie, Hellbound - Hellraiser II and Friday the 13th part VII - The New Blood were a fairly close 2nd and 3rd though, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master and Halloween 4 - The Return of Michael Myers a slightly more distant 4th and 5th, haven't seen Maniac Cop, They Live and Pumpkinhead yet),
1989: Friday the 13th part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan (it was clear that the best of what 80s horror had to offer was long gone by then... Halloween 5 - The Revenge of Michael Myers is a close 2nd and A Nightmare on Elm Street part 5 - The Dream Child was TRASH)
Agree Dressed to Kill is a fantastic cinematic work. Tense, and terrifying at times. Maybe Brian DePalma's best film.
Prey would have been on par with the original if the Predator had actually won.
Love 80s horror movies and the ending to Sleepaway camp stayed with me

1980: The Fog
1981: American Werewolf In London
1982: The Thing

1984: The Company Of Wolves
1985: Fright Night

The Company of Wolves is so underrated!! It's nice to see it recognized.😈
Solid list! I think I actually agree with every selection here.
The terminator is a sci fi not a horror movie a nightmare on elm street should be number 1
_A Nightmare on Elm Street_ didn't make my #1 slot for the year, either.
Now I have to go rewatch Sleepaway Camp
It's great.
The Hitcher was the best horror movie of 1986.
No.
But it was close.
1989 had one of the best ghost films ever made: The Woman in Black.
Also, 1981’s Dead & Buried could use more love. It’s pretty creepy.
I could see that one making it on a vol. 2 list for sure
I still haven't seen that movie yet.
Have seen quite a few of those!
definitely ALIENS over the fly. not even close.
Psycho II (1983) 🔥
1980 -DEBBIE DOES DAMIAN!!!!!!
Pet Semetary got robbed
1982 is an AMAZING year in film.
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE "THE THING!!!!"
However I'm in the smallest of small group who likes POLTERGEIST just the tinest bit better. I wish they came out in different years just so I don't have to make that choice.
1980: The Shining
1981: The Burning
1982: Friday The 13th Part 3
1983: Psycho III
1984: A Nightmare On Elm Street
1985: Friday The 13th Part 5 A New Beginning
1986: The Fly
1987: Predator
1988: Pumpkinhead
1989: Only seen Halloween 5, Friday 8 and Elm Street 5, wasn't a fan
Just watched all the childs play movies..... loved them...except the remake....Meh..that was like a slap in the face
The remake sucked and the original is one of my favorites.
@@davsny5 mine too
I cant bring myself to watch the fly ( although I did dee the orginal ) or Videodrome
That's sad, they are both incredible.
@@fluorescentmilkshake yeah, I have a weak stomach for that kind of stuff.
:( No Friday the 13th films???
I'm sorry but Prey is just more enjoyable
Lol no
This is a terrible list how do you not have the Thing here or Aliens? You put predator thats a action movie smh
Hey bro it's sad you haven't uploaded in a while. Hope you're well.
