This is how I imagine the angels sing for our Heavenly Father.
Tim and Chance are both doing the Bass in this one. That's where you hear the 2 toned echo effect. Add Adam supporting the tenors and it's gorgeous! Great reaction!
When a song like this moves you, it is the power of the Lord doing his work.
Wonder if I'm the only one who goes looking for these Home Free reaction videos. Love seeing y'alls reactions.
I do, too! 😊
It’s when you’re not talking that we as viewers can see just how the music is effecting you and moving you. Beautiful reaction. 😊👍🏼
You hear bass even though Tim is singing because Adam Chance (the guy who mostly sings baritone, far left) can get all the way down to an F#1. He used to sing bass for the previous group he worked with before joining Home Free. That's also why you hear all those low harmonic notes, but none of it is layered, which makes them one of the most versatile groups i've heard.
Thank you for a great reaction. Home Free is known for their tight harmonies. This was filmed in the Alps of Austria when they were there on tour a few years ago. It was also filmed by a drone, believe it or not. Whenever I'm feeling down, or I've had a bad day, I watch this video and it calms my soul. Thanks Again. Hope to see you do more of Home Free videos in the future. God Bless.
This was a song that got me hooked on home free. I grew up country listen to The Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, Alabama. Those guys were the setup for harmonies and country bands. I love how they do it Tim Foust though he is the main base he does back up here because Adam Chance is a baritone bass and he does Bass. Adam Rupp the founder is on the far end with the ponytail and he is your beatbox sound effect man. This is one of the very few songs that you can actually hear his voice. When I first heard this song I started crying because I was back home at church with my grandma. You can't put a price on reliving the memories that the song evokes.
Yaaaaaaaas! Dude, I'm here for all of this. Thank you for loving some Home Free. I went to one of their concerts and I swear the Holy Ghost cut loose when they sang How Great Thou Art. I needed a collection plate. AND! They had me "Yeehawin'" when they did "Hillbilly Bone". Good looking out on the reaction videos.
My reaction is speechless. Perfect harmony they laid it down better than any other group could have. Much props to the composer
Bass line is not layered... Adam Chance is an AMAZING bass.
Actually Adam Chance is a Baritone, but yes he can sing pretty low for a Baritone!
He was the bass singer for Street Corner Symphony before he moved to Home Free.
@@dieserurs2544 I believe his range goes from baritone to base.
Tim is actually the bass for home free.
James Cring yea. But when he was singing, Chance took over the bass part.
I love your reaction! I feel the same way about enjoying the simplicity of the video. I love videos that are focused on the guys and not a lot of action going on around them. For me to much action takes away from their beautiful voices and amazing harmony. I hope you continue to react to Home Free. I look forward to the next one! Thank you for a lovely tasteful reaction!
Thanks!!! This was filmed in Austria while they were over there. We actually get to hear Adam sing which is a rarity.. one of my favorites!! Another couple of great ones are I Can't Outrun You, What We Ain't Got, My Old Man and In the Blood. Thanks again!!
There’s something about pure vocals and no percussion that draws your focus into what they’re actually singing. It’s a great thing!
Yes. All of these! Beautiful every last one of them!
exactly-
This song being sung outside around all that splendor filled my heart. Thank you for playing Joseph. Love, Jackie
The whole time I watched you being in awe I was like 'yep, those are ma boys'...I don't know how I'm so proud of people I don't know but hey, those harmonies man!
I Love You too man. (Yes, I stayed to the end). 5 part harmony always does it for me too. These guys are genius at arranging.
You are like a breath of fresh air! 😊 Seriously. I watch so many of these reaction videos where the YTer is talking over the content, and I find myself so frustrated with them missing the best parts of the song. Some at least pause to speak, so that doesn’t drive me as nuts. But you... “I feel like I should be talking.” Your face says it all! You actually take it all in and that is amazing. Much love!!😘 I’m enjoying what I’m seeing from you.
Your emotion, sincerity, love of music (and ear for picking up the different tight range harmonies) has me hooked.
Thank you for this reaction ... I'm going to track down your other reactions, too. Keep that positive vibe flowing ... you will get what you need in God's time ... much love!
Thank you for your kind words! I will continue to entertain you guys as much as possible!
Great reaction! I love the harmonies in the song. I feel like whenever Adam Rupp sings instead of Beat Boxes that 5th harmony is always stunning. Adam is a tenor (per his mom) so you get the 3 high 2 low combo. As for the layering, I’m sure it is layered for the base line. I guess they usually layer because bases are softer so they have to for it to be heard. You probably already know that. As for WHO is layering 🤷♀️. Could be Chance, could be Tim. Could be both. 😂. I feel like they both sound pretty similar once they get that low. I shall look forward to your next HF reaction:) (PS you should listen to the Fries. They are pretty good at matching reactors to what videos they might like best 😉. Couldn’t resist teasing you a little).
Chase is a Baritone/Bass as well and he fills in spots where Tim chooses to go high. The super low bass parts will be Tim for sure though. Phenomenal!
Love your reaction. It's always good to see someone else appreciate Home Free. Nice that you enjoyed the harmonys. Home Free are a real joy to the senses
First time I caught your reaction to Home Free, you mentioned Tim "layering" the base but in actuality Home Free has two bass singers, one covers for the other when they need to switch octaves.
I love watching you listening to their awesome harmonies /runs etc Thanks at your beautiful respectful comments
What a great way to start my day...with a great reaction to this video! I ended my day yesterday with a reaction to this same video! The bass you were hearing when Tim was singing was from Chance (the guy on far left)! He is a bass/baritone singer! Because of his vocal range it frees Tim up for more lead singing! This video was recorded in the Austrian Alps when they were on tour! The video clip at the end was My Church...you should react to that too! That was actually the video that got me hooked on HF! Another video you would really love is Amazing Grace! They did this video with Peter Hollens and it is fantastic!
I saw the video with Peter Hollens earlier! You might be seeing me react to that soon! 😁
I'm pretty sure it's not Chance singing the bass here. It sounds much more like they layered Tim singing both the bass and the lead.
When they sing this live....it is Chance singing bass when Tim sings lead! I've seen them twice!
But Joseph was asking about who was singing the bass in this video, and that's Tim, not Chance. This is the studio version of the song. ;)
Yes, it is Tim singing the bass harmonies in this studio version - at least according to the learning tracks..
Home free.... In The Blood. Helplessly Hoping. All of their music is amazing! Thanks!!!
Love your hair! I have never heard a sound like their’s and they can do any genre well!
That outtro was something else!! Yeah, I stuck around to the end, & I love you too!! LOL! 😂 But seriously... HF are the masters of harmony & arranging (altho their producer, Darren Rust arranged this one; also awesome!!). This video's location & those pure harmonies really makes you 'feel' the song! So beautiful!! Thx for another great reaction!! I'm a fan!
Thank you so much! hopefully I'll be able to entertain you for years to come!
when tim isn't singing bass adam chance takes over. Their ranges are so amazing!!
Chance covers the bass line when Tim sings lead.
This was filmed in the Austrian Alps. They're all vocal chameleons - Tim (bass) has 5+ octave range. When he's singing lead Adam Chance sings the bass. Austin (long curly hair) and Rob (glasses) switch lead & 2nd tenor back & forth. And they can all beatbox (not to the same degree as Adam Rupp of course). See the live video "9-5 beatboxing breakdown".
You should check out their cover of John Mayer's "In the Blood"! In my opinion it's their best, simplest, video!
That's my favourite too..so fantastic....
This is my favorite then probably... In the blood... What we ain't got... Mayday. So u have more to do little, it is such a pleasure watching u. Much love dear
Thank you! It's my pleasure!
Hahaha, you had a typical reaction to Home Free! Most people are speechless upon the first time hearing them. Then..... you are hooked!!! There is just something different and very special about this group. If you enjoy listening to them on video you really need to see them live. They are amazing in a live performance. They're humble and involve their fans during their shows. Thanks for doing a Home Free review!! It was a great reaction to them. Very sweet to see your need to just listen to them. :)
Also, if you like simplicity You should check out Home Free's Seven Bridges Road. It is a very simple yet superb video and.... Oh My, the harmony!
That was shot in Austria, like you said the perfect place. I love these guys so much!! And love your videos!! Thanks!
Thanks for reacting to this Home Free video.. This is one that touches right to the heart, no matter what your faith.. This didn't have any beatboxing in it, either.. The beatboxer Adam sang the "It Is Well" part of the song.. BTW, I just subscribed.. I have watched a couple of your reactions to Home Free, so time I subscribed...
When Tim sings, Chance who is their baritone, bass takes over for him while he is singing. This is a beautiful rendition and I absolutely love it. Their harmonies are unbelievable and so beautiful. Austin is their high tenor who sings the very end. He has a beautiful voice.
Home Free released a new video from their Timeless Album today, Jan 26. The title track, Timeless. It's an original and it's awesome of course! You might want to add that to your list . ^_^
If you want to hear the PUREST version of this song, look up Kearny Mo Home Free Concert (July 2017). A thunderstorm ended their concert early, but while everyone was sheltering under a pavilion, the group came by to give them on last song. No mics, no amps, just 5 guys on a picnic table singing How Great Thou Art with only Mother Nature as an accompanyment.
This video is a classic. The Praise is apparent. The harmonies are in your face. Very complex. Very close and tight. Gorgeous. BTW!!!!! The A Capella Awards (of some kind, I am not familiar with it, but) Home Free won Entertainers of the Year, and Tim Foust got Song Writer of the year.
Thank you so much. It is awesome to know someone else understands how powerful harmony is like I do. Thanks, man!
So glad you liked their harmonies & video! They are special!
when a song like that makes you want to sit and be silent, you know its great
Less IS more!!! Their harmonies are sick and sooo tight!!! #homefriesfanforever 💙💙💙
I'm a Home Fry.... Three generations of Home Fries in my family..... We watch their videos to the very end..... It's okay.....😁💗👍
Love your reaction!
Subscribed💗
I know right.. lol your reaction was my reaction when I first time heard that song too...
and yeah, I was blown up I mean, really-really blown up. and I think I was almost cried----
lol and thanks for the review, I'm totally agree with you hahaha..
keep the good work for reviewing new song! I want to see you on the next video...
P.S.:
Anyway, Home Free already up new MV, the title is In the Blood. Why don't you review that too for the second blown up? ehehehe
I mean, really.. I feel--- well... empty?? because they sing it so deep and somehow I can feel the loneliness......
please try review this song :D
SEE YAA!!!
I’ll most definitely consider it! Especially with all of the home free requests I’ve been getting!
Hehehehe, then good luck~
See ya on the next video :D
Wonderful reaction! You have a new subscriber right here. I’ve watched a few of your videos and have enjoyed them and your positivity. I have a suggestion for you and it’s What We Ain’t Got covered by Home Free. I will link below... also they are a MUST SEE LIVE! I’ll be going to my 3rd concert of theirs in March and there is nothing I can even compare to their live show! It is that amazing!
ruclips.net/video/ZHLy-k6m6M8/видео.html
This was my mom's favorite hymn. She loved this song. Thanks so much for this. God Bless. Love Home Free.
Home Free has just made it my favorite as well, God bless you and I'll see you around again hopefully!
First time viewer.. As I'm watching this video, I see what looks like a phone recorded video of them live singing "Go Rest High On That Mountain" in my suggestions. It only has 539 views. I want to watch it, but I can't. That's the song that my mom once said that she wants played at her funeral. It's one of the most beautiful songs, originally written and performed by Vince Gill. He wrote it for his brother whom had passed. Vince also broke down while playing it during George Jone's memorial service.
I'll share the link of the Home Free video I mentioned in the replies.
ruclips.net/video/dKd232lHM-c/видео.html
I just LOVE your reaction. This is how I feel listenning to their version. I nearly cry everytime
Hey Just letting you know when tim was singing his solo, their baritone Adam was singing bass. He used to sing bass for another group before he came to Home Free. It's okay they never showed it in this video but in some of their other videos it shows him singing it. But Great reaction! God bless you man!
I realize this video is almost a year old (and I'm mad it took me this long) but once in a Q&A on twitter someone asked about layering and what not. The answer that we got was that for stuff like music videos/the album they will layer it so in this case Tim was doin his thing soloing but also singing the bass line, HOWEVER there is an arragement for when they sing it live for their Baritone (Adam Chance) to 'take over' the bass line.
Really enjoyed your reaction! Peace Love and Light! Namaste
Excellent and perfect review, as far as I'm concerned. I have to have that harmony "fix" every day. My own musical life has been all about harmony, and Home Free always nails it--especially well in this song. Thank you for sharing your insight. :-)
You're so very welcome! My love for music is why I do all that I do!
I can tell, and I love it. :-)
Chance- the one on the left is also a Baritone/Bass. He is doing most of the bass in this video
He has an amazing lower register!
I disagree. I'm pretty sure it's Tim singing the bass in this one. This is a studio version, so they can use layering.
When they do it live Chance sings the lower register when Tim is singing lead.
I've heard Chance has a four octave range. No matter what he's a great singer as well. I'm sure he's singing bass. (Although you could be right.)
(oh, BTW, If you haven't heard them yet Chance shows his talent in 'May Day' and 'I Can't Outrun You.' :) )
Have you listened to Seven Bridges Road?? Same great Harmonies. Big hit for the Eagles in 1973. Home Free got it. Loved your review on How Great Thou Art. My all time fav hymn. Have a great blessed day.
je suis émerveillée par vos belles chansons je vous ecoute a tous les soirs avant d aller au dodo wow wow et wow
loved this video best rendition I have ever heard smiles and love to you thank you for the reaction another one to listen to is the live video of Bring Him Home featuring Austin it is awesome
I echo that! Here's one of the better recordings, I think: ruclips.net/video/-QH2iR4dgM0/видео.html . Heidi always does a good job. What I like about watching live videos like this, is that you get to here at least a little bit of what Home Free sounds like in concert. Listen to the harmonies even in the unmixed sound! So beautiful!
I watch a lot of reactions by a lot of reactors but I do not subscribe to very many. Let's face it, there are a lot of reactors who range from not very good to terrible. There are some that are OK and then there are the few who actually know what they are talking about. Who really know about music. That is why I subscribed to you and I can't understand why I haven't found you until now. You do an outstanding job. Don't worry about not saying much when watching a video. That is one of my pet peeves. If you are talking you are not listening. Keep up the great job. I especially like anything by Home Free and Pentatonix. Please keep them coming.
You should check all of their Sound Off competition songs they did. They did their version of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. It left the entire house including the judges blown out of their seats. That guy who does the bass has something like a six to eight occtive range which is mind blowing. Especially when he goes low cause he makes it look so damn easy.
Dude; Chills Love This like no other!!! No disrespect to anyone who’s ever tried this, but Home Free is So Very Amazing (and that’s not enough to describe what they did to this song); You and they Nailed this!!!! 😍💗❤️🎈✌🏻💕❤️😍
Thank you! and their ability to deliver a message through music is so soothing and demanded, I'm glad that I'm able to appeal to a bunch of HF fans around the world as well! it's my honor and I'll continue to entertain you guys as long as I feel some sort of support! It's what keeps me coming back!
Speechless! Love your reaction!!! Makes you wanna pray, right?!!
Exactly!!!
They actually have two basses, Tim is their main bass and Adam does so some bass as well... Check out their cover of mayday and wait for Adam's bass
i knew you'd like this - you have a lot of heart
I love the use of Neil Pearts drum solo at the beginning.Great reaction.
I love this song and the wonderful rendition! Thanks for the great reaction, God bless you man. New subscriber here! :-)
I heard this a long time ago and I felt like going back to Church !!
That was a wonderful reaction !!! Keep reacting to Home Free please .
To your credit, you said nothing, and just absorbed the music. I contend that IS the proper reaction/review.
That arrangement, and their execution of it, is paralyzingly beautiful.
Objectively beautiful.
Both Adam Chance and Tim are wonderful bassists. Enjoyed your reaction. The video that got me hooked on Home Free is their cover of "Ring of Fire" featuring Avi Kaplan, when he was still with Pentatonix.
Love your reaction to this video and song. You should listen to Mayday, Timeless, my church, any way he wind blows, What we ain't got, can't stop the feeling, In the blood, castle on the hill. for some live versions your man, 9 to 5 and adam rupp's beatboxing.
Chance is a baritone/bass and sings bass parts when Tim is singing. He can go low singing bass, but not as low as Tim can. I feel your pain with putting on the headphones. I have piercings too. I try to put them above, below or around if I have to wear them. Earbuds work too.
For some reason I like the sound studio headphones have, but they put me in so much pain if I'm not careful lol. Thank you for the information though, I'll most definitely be listening for Chance the next time I hear bass notes while Tim is soloing!
They're amazing to see live I have been to two of they're shows AND I am in a nursing home
That's great.
▶▶Chance, left, (replaced Chris who went solo, w/their blessings) is an awesome bass/baritone...Tim's voice is insanely deep, live!..They were headlining a sold-out Country Festival in Austria!!...Their harmonies are so rich!! There are no weak links in this vocal band!!
▶▶They started out soul/pop, went more country-ish, but can sing anything!!...Lke PTX in pop radio, they still face a cappella 'stigma' on country radio, *YET* their 5 albums hit #2, #3, #4, #8, #12 on Billboard Country & (after PTX) they're the 2nd most viewed Vocal Group on RUclips!!...They're in Aus/NZ this year, but the whole world needs to hear/see them!!

You need to do a reaction video to them singing with Peter Hollens Amazing Grace. It is just as good as this or better.
Will Do! Thank you for the request & support!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
Go see them LIVE. I was raised by musicians and singing Four Note Sacred Harp in church and I DIDN'T BELIEVE IT.
I saw them live in Chattanooga Tennessee. I BELIEVE
Don't know if someone has told you already, but it is not layered, the "Bass" you hear when Tim is singing a part is their newest member Adam Chance, a Baritone.
As for you hearing bass as Tim was singing his solo part, that's Adam Chance the new baritone but he can also dabble in bass a bit
Nicole Crisler he is actually a bass from another group but replaces Chris as baritone he doesn’t dabble in it...
I love these guys. An absolutely fantastic version of this song. Right uo there with Andy Griffith's version. I've got goose bumps with this song.
Home Free Take me Home Country Road just hit. John Denver would be proud.
Home Free is carried on the Colombia Nashville label, however, I have yet to see a single example of the label actually supporting them. They deserve WAY more attention than they are currently receiving, and should be (imho) on every country/gospel radio station in the country (and world...).
It's truly sad who gets recognized and who doesn't in this world... there's so many great artists with labels and even indie, but the masses like to influenced to like one specific type of artists or music, and it's just sad... the music industry is beginning to forget why it's here in the first place and it's simply because people LOVE good music and there's a demand for it, everyone is just so money hungry now... it's ridiculous
Hi there.
That was a perfect reaction!
Thanx,
Mindy
Thank you so much for the support! Consider subscribing because I’m going to be doing A LOT more HF reactions soon!
TheJosephDavis
Okay! It's done!!! You've got 1more subscriber!
Thanx,
Mindy
VIDEO WAS TAKEN WITH DRONES OVER THE AUSTRIAN ALPS .... BEAUTIFUL and then some!
that last bass harmony urrrrrrgh god its so saucy
I KNOW RIIIIIIIGHT?
Adam Chance is singing base when Tim is on lead. They both do the last note
{aka DJ Whisper} ~ Harmonies are GREAT, the message is FANTASTIC!!! :)
Loved the reaction. Keep them coming. If you love harmonies another great acapella group worth listening to is Voctave. Their video of Mary did you Know with Mark Lowry is great. Love to see your reaction
I've heard of Voctave but never really got around to them... thanks for reminding me! I'll get to it!
WOW "Simplicity, just love it"
That was filmed in the Swiss Alps.
please react to Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey". you're going to love the runs and it's simplicity.
I love your spirit and your heart sooo much
Omg! I think I just had an eargasm!!
Btw, chance is a bass too. That other bass was him
When Tim was singing lead.
I need you to sing that to me every Sunday. You know it’s my favorite
Brings tears to my eyes.
i like them a lot better then pentatonix i love there music u should react to there song mom
I'll put that on my list!
I love both bands but i found Home Free because of Pentatonix, specifically Avi when they collab for Ring of Fire. A MUST listen btw
Something tells me this song took you back to happier times :)
Absolutely talented and amazing group, indeed. Have you reacted to "why does it have to be" yet? If not, go check it out when you can. It's their latest upload and, trust me, the beat will get you goin. When I first heard it, I was immediately movin and groovin. Tim's bass line is awesome as well.
By the way, that was chance who did the bass. He and Tim switch back and forth with that quite a bit.
Excellent worship in that amazing place. (Austrian Alps.)
The bass you here is actually Chance, he is the baritone, but also sings bass, with a 4 octave range. So Home Free is a double bass threat!
