Great video Solomon - when we took delivery of our 2023 Kona EV I looked at the HUD and thought is that ever cute...probably will never use it. BUT I was wrong...use it all the time and absolutely love it! Great feature to have and keeps my eyes on the road. Thankyou for the video! Mike 🇨🇦
Thanks for your video. I agree, the HUD is great. It's one of the main reason why I bought the Kona EV, and not the e-Niro. The other reason being the style of the Kona that I prefer 😉 And I fully agree with you about adding HUD to Tesla cars.
One thing that's in the new version now: next to the nav info, it will show a progress bar as well, which shows how close you are to the next nav point. I find it extremely useful, especially when I'm in a busy, closely packed city environment. Also... I've thought the new Kona EV 2022 checks the traffic signs with a front camera, but I don't have any direct info on this. Anyone else?
I have an HUD aftermarket via ODB2 port; I tried on a Mazda CX5 2018, and it worked. A few years later I tried in a LEAF 2020 I wont read the data from the ODB2 :(. The digital speedometer on the LEAF is small and buried in the from dash. I cannot see well there as the steering wheel is constantly on the way. :(. I thin kthe AR should go beyond the car. I wanted so badly what Google tried to do with its (failed) google glass project and google maps. not only will augment reallity while you are driving; it will continue once you step out of your vehicule and start walking on the streeth. amazing tech. too bad the project did not become mainstream.
Unless I'm missing something, it looks like the HUD is NOT offered on the 2022 Kona EV.....are you kidding be after watching Sol's great video. Has Hyundai gone to the dark-side??
@@michaellippmann4474 Thanks for reply Mike. Unfortunately the current Build-a-KonaEV (USA) webpage does not list HUD on top trim. Maybe they'll update the site later in the MY.
I have the Kia Soul ev 2022 model which has Hud fitted and swear I will never buy another which does not have it fitted. when I drive out of the city and hit the country roads where the speed limits are constantly changing and you come upon a speed camera warning sign, you can immediately see the speed youneed to travel at.
Tesla owners I think are a bit wered people. They dont like to drive a car, they want the car to drive it self, and they will not hasitate to spend a fortune on that feature. Therfor I think it is a bit useles to fill the car whit information they do not want or need. So NO, no HUD for Teslas. Let them be bored to death behind the weel and all the rest of us drive fun tech cars that also look good😁😉
I hold the view that despite whether or not people want a minimalist experience, there should always be the choice to see more information. If some drivers don't want to see it there should be an option to turn it off. But I do agree that most drivers would not want to see those detailed data from Autopilot.
I'm with you. From first getting into a Kona with HUD now I can't be without it. The satnav presentation is just great.
Love the intro Soloman! I wish I had discovered your channel before I bought my EV - great content for us Canadian drivers.

I love it! One of the reasons I chose the Kona.
For Tesla to make an update over the air, they would need to have the hardware first.

I’ve added a HUDs to my Model 3 and the Tesla software updates ruined both of them. 😝

Nope I have the 2023 Kona EV and we have the HUD and absolutely one of the best features of the car!
Have a great day!

Elon doesn’t believe in HUD’s so it will never happen. Elon knows best.
