This may be the best car in Australia, but I would say this is the best ad in the world. I haven't watched something this powerfull since the intro to Forza 4 with Jeremy Clarkson. You did an amazing job. Whoever was responsible for this ad shoud get a raise!
@@MrRonan3 I assume you have grown up in Australia, with these cars around you, so you see this ad/brand differently. End of the day, the owner defines the 'Commodore'-ness. There are beatdown VTs with rusted paint with bogan drivers flippin the bird driving down western Sydney and then there are enthusiasts with pristine HSVs/Senators/Granges who maintain these cars with dignity. Should you ask car guys from the US or even many European countries, you'd be surprised how much appreciation and street cred these cars hold. Anyhow, I was referring more to the way this ad captures the spirit and the time us car guys currently live in. All we need is a handful of true friends, some dance, some rock, and a mean street machine!
@@whoissarthak I understand. it was great for for Australia. not anywhere else. i have had stick for driving a 2ltr bottle of milk engine for years and i dont care becuase its bloody fast and does the job and is sold all the world. Holden had a great product which fell behind and could not keep up with smaller engine cars.im glad they made them.but as in the USA the V8 is now becoming a dinosaur. there is not a Holden ever made out of the crate which will touch the small german hatchbacks for speed or build quality so their time has come. so your right look after those last few as i am sure many owners will,
@@MrRonan3 I hear ya. They died just as they got a little better with the release of the VFs. Sad demise of the Aussie v8 muscle. Also agree that practically dictates one can have just as much fun with a daily driver Golf or a turbo 6, without worrying about the fuel gauge too much.
I watch this add at least once a day... it is so addictive, it is so true... and when you hear the roar of the exhaust from the GTS... it always brings a smile to my face.
Could not agree more, HSV is the best car I have ever owned and each time I enter the car I am full of energy buzzing from the raw nature of this refined beast.
I watched this ad hundred+ times when it came out. Desired a Heron white manual with black SV wheels. fortunate enough to say I've owned a Clubsport R8 SV in that colour combo for a couple of years now. Still love this ad!
50 seconds in to this ad, that would be my old billy-cart, from back in the 70's at Broken Hill. Good to see her still running. My helmet too! Some of my mates would remember tearin' around the house on this. Lotta fun.
The best ad of 2013 by a long shot! I say that as someone who doesn't even drive a Holden (1993 Land Rover Defender and 2013 Toyota Hilux)...this made me want to go out and buy one. Props to the agency and creative behind this.
Everything about this commercial is just so right! Most cars are "Vanilla." and Why do people spend so much time overseas, when they live in the best country on the planet? No thanks, i would rather take the Gen F GTS across the Nullabor, and see how much fun a supercharged V8 is on the worlds longest straight road. Well done HSV, the cars look great and that is the best car commercial ever.
THE BEST CAR AD FOR ALL TIME!!! Love it the first time I saw it on RUclips. The first video ad I did not dare stop playing. Want me to wanna buy the car (in due time). Congrats to the production people.
After the announcement of no more commodore from Holden , i will enjoy mine for the rest of its days. Wont be sold and will keep her . Long live AUSTRALIAN built commodores/HSVs
A crime that in 5 years we went from designing manufacturing selling these and ones like it to crickets. All that talent wasted, why the government of the day cut the Automotive grants and killed Automotive manufacturing is a crime. Should never be forgiven.
100k for a 430kw Australian built full size performance car is not over priced at all. Infact its bang for buck when you compare it to the rest of the crap on the market. People talk up imports like their worth it when the labor costs of building them are half of what HSV's are and yet their nearly twice the price of Australian Built. But the funny thing is the people actually buy that crap. I support HSV, and im a Ford guy. Nothing beats something that's manufactured in our home soil.
As an aussie i come across commodores occasionally and then you come across these i remember my favourite one, a midnight black ute with an exhausts to die for at a light you'd put your foot to the floor and the ecu would do the rest
One thing to remember about all HSVs; their "core" is always either a Berlina, Calais or Caprice. The Berlina is a base model with some extra features, a Calais is a base model with a lot more features, and a Caprice is a luxury model which is stripped down in America and known as a Caprice PPV. All HSV parts will bolt onto a Chevy SS. I think GM USA is scared this will force them to get off their arses if they became common in America
Absolutely the best product that Holden has ever produced. My first car was an FJ and have had just about every model since. Holden lost its way with the Commodore and are now producing some Japanese thing that resembles a billy cart cut in half. This is Holden 2013--as Holden was in 1948. The leader
INteresting. I spoke to the guys at holden themselves and they told me they SET the record, not broke. Still, not saying you're lying or anything. In fact if you watch the official video I comment on it and they reply to me on the same subject.
Again i don't think you get the point. Labor costs of manufacturing in Australia are more then your average American or Japanse wages. Hence the price tag. Business people are not car people, if they are happy driving a 2 litre Euro car around that's fine by me. This car is built for Australian Enthusiasts. People who appreciate a big car and the sound of a powerful V8 in a economy that's ruled by small cars. I would happy take this over a GTR simply because its built right here.
I have the 2012 HSV GTS in white with custom matte black mag wheels offsetting the yellow brake calipers. I previously had a Clubsport then R8 and now the GTS. So looking forward to the GEN-F GTS. I just wish Holden/HSV would learn from Mercedes and others on how to treat and engage with their customers, especially long term ones!
HSV please bring your cars to America. And no I'm not talking about the Chevy SS, or the G8 GXP, I mean full blown HSV Maloo R8, Clubsports, etc etc. WE NEED THEM.
This has to be the best ad ever made.
YYEEEEAAAAAAA !!!
Not only is this the best ad in world but also the most inspiring
This ad gave me goosebumps!! Wow! Loving Australia, loving Holden!

As an owner of a Gen F R8 Clubsport - the car is epic !!!! Love this Ad , one of the best car ads ever made !!!
I have one too and i totally agree :)

Makes me proud to be an Aussie and own a HSV
Well said ,,, same 🤘
I will move to Australia one day
I have gone euro years ago. And this car is,going be the one to change that. I'm goin for,a test drive with my wife ASAP. Good job Holden.
hope you didnt buy one...hated mine...sold it after 12mths and bought an actual performance car.
Here goes a massive thumbs up from an HSV fan in Portugal! Put it on the Nurburgring guys!
Im a Ford guy, but this ad is brilliant! Good work HSV!
Great work HSV. Loved the E-Series, hoping to get behind the wheel of a Gen-F at some stage too!

Keep coming back to this :). Proud to own an HSV in the UK
Good work mate. Keeping the HSV name alive in the UK thanks
From a Ford dude... My hat's off to you, the General. This is a nice motor vehicle.

This video is more than an ad ... It makes me question my whole life!
It will always be the greatest performance car ever built in Australia 💯
So true
You guys are selling me a life style to go with the car.
Well done HSV!!!
i just bought the Maloo R8 ute 2016 manuel.
what a rush. Australia knows how to make a preforrmance car that will give you back your youth.
I hated mine...got rid of it after 12mths the thing just handled so bad...but realistically its just a commodore.
Holden's advertising is brilliant at the moment. Very high quality, well done.
basically the best car ad of all time

Today is day 2 of ownership of my very own GTS "I'm so in love"
10 years on and this is still one of the best commercials ever made 🤘🏼
Don’t think any nation beats a rich Aussie accent on tv 👊
We are the best
I made my '84 Camira watch this, now It's a manual 5 litre SS.
That's the best car add I have ever seen, and it's made right here. Incredible job Holden, proving once again you've got what it takes to be the best
this is the best ad i have ever seen and im hopeing to get the GTS maloo soon
Best car ad I've ever seen, makes me want one soo bad

Still love my VS clubby, old but gold.
holden knows what people want but no one realy baught them sadly :(

If your talking about the Thunderstruck ad, 'll take that as a massive compliment. I wrote this spot and that one over 10 years ago. Cheers.

RIP HSV.
Thanks for making Holden's more fun. And Aussie cars even better.
That would be a bloody good episode, love the new HSV!
lmao, the bit where they fast forward through 'boring' cars at the intersection, you can briefly see a gtr
crankCINEMA That's what happens when you drive a HSV GTS you only briefly see other cars.
This is the greatest summary of car enthusiasm I have ever seen. SOMEONE GET THESE PEOPLE SOME DAMN OSCARS ALREADY!
Such a good ad!
I wish we got car ads like that in the US. I wish we had that car in the US, too.
you have a cts-v . this would cost $80000 in America
Dodge ads are similar

first ad on you tube that was searched up to watch again.
The last serious commercial

I agree me and my friends. You could even say it feltus
The government killed the Aussie icon. Holden is the best car Australian has ever had.
Thanks for the info that you sent me, very enlightening and it is very appreciated, again, many thanks.
I love the front end of the car, it looks mean.
Watching it in May 2024
One of the BEST COMMERCIALS ! ...EVER!!!
The 'I just want one' slogan has never been more spot on. Now to convince the pregnant missus that the GTS is the perfect "family" car...
