My uncle got a zero interest loan from my grandparents to buy a home (he's the youngest, so he got spoiled rotten) for about $200k (adjusting for inflation), they sold it for about $800k 5 years ago, bought a new house with that money, and now that bigger house is worth over $1mil. This video explicitly calls out how some of the animal partnerships actually resulted from co-evolution (some species of goby and shrimp literally _need_ to form partnerships with another another, and some mite + beetle partnerships are legitimately lifelong due to their clutches being laid and born right next to each other in the same chamber). Coyotes and badgers, at least in areas where their partnership is likely/necessary, have also likely been allies long enough for individuals to be born with some natural trust, especially given coyotes and badgers wouldn't really be enemies if they weren't teammates.

      The shrimp is called a pistol shrimp, they are blind and keep an antena on the goby at all times when out of the burrow. They are from Alphidae family.
      The goby is called a watchman goby. They are keeping an eye and warn the shrimp if any danger. There are multiple families of watchman gobies, my favourite ones are Amblyeleotris and Stonogobiops.
      The shrimp will maintain the burrow. I have a suspicion that they're also cleaning the fish of any parasites, also taking care of the fishes' eggs until they hatch.

      now we kinda have dogs and cats as emotional support, some of us don't reaaally need them but some people who live alone actually do feel way better with a dog or cat. Since we are very social animals, it makes sense that having a buddy who is literally designed to be way more loyal and loving than most human friends is a good investment.

    • @watsonwrote
      @watsonwrote 3 года назад +9

      @Mohammed Ali the g I've read it's more likely that wolves started hanging around human camps for food and we began to help one another like the badger and coyote. We'd follow their hunts, the wolves ours, and over generations came to rely on each other more and more.
      Cats are a case where we know for certain that they domesticated themselves--eating rodents that eat our grain and over time we began to tolerate each other until friendship formed.

    • @cookeymonster83
      @cookeymonster83 3 года назад

      @@watsonwrote that's unlikey as if that were true wolves would still exhibit that behavior in areas with modern nomadic people. However an ongoing study on Silver Foxes has shown that domesticated traits can be bred into new generations through selective breeding. Studies have also shown that Grey Wolf (ancestor to all dog breeds) pups grow up to be wild regardless of domestic rearing thus domestication can only be bred into canines.

    • @MirrimBlackfox
      @MirrimBlackfox 3 года назад +1

      @@cookeymonster83 The coevolution of wolves and humans is well established. Most scientists agree that it probably went down something like; Wolves hung around humans for scraps and the nicest wolves got more food , and over generations the nicest wolves started partnering up with humans to hunt and guard.
      The fox domestication project just sped the process up because the *only* selection pressure was how nice the fox was, rather then just being one of the selection pressures. Basically early human/canine relationships where mutualistic, the wolves got food and the humans got camp defenders and alarms, and probably sleeping together to keep warm, then hunting partners, *then* they started with the selective breeding for tasks (in some places).
