- A Polnareff character analysis.
I've always wondered why Araki was so harsh on his character.
Still haven't found the answer.

He did. It was Vanilla Ice and the Art of the Unknown

I would love an analysis on Jotaro. He gets oversimplified all the time, and honestly not a lot of people see the true depth to his character.
Might I direct you to the "why Jotaro doesn't suck" video. I forget who made it, but it was really good.
Dat Insane Dude Jotaro is just Clint Eastwood from his Westerns.
Same with Giorrno
Dat Insane Dude idk why so many people thought he was just an edge lord. There’s a whole reason for his personality and how he’s cold towards others.
I heard there's more depth in him in part 6. I wouldn't know though. I haven't read the manga.

Kakyoin: “There’s no such thing as a Mirror World”
Illuso: “MIND ZA MIRRAH!”
I do feel there was another reason Polnareff went alone: it was so he would not lose anyone else.
Not only after Avdol, but after what happened to Iggy, Polnareff makes comments that imply that he didn’t want to go through another loss.
His revenge was indeed personal, and there was a strong element of pride. But how much did his own loss play into his decision to go alone? To lose another, to the same man even...?
I’m aware I could be wrong about that playing some role, but I want to know your thoughts.
I still like the fact that Kakyoin fix Polnareff's revenge speech to make it much more epic.
Totally a crusader thing
polnareff was more of a main character for part 3 than jotaro was

Yes! Yes! Yes! I absolutely love Polnareff, so glad you did an analysis of him. I have a soft spot for characters who are honourable warriors. (I still cry whenever I watch Whammu's death scene... But then I remember he was the one that killed Caesar, and feel less sad)
Also, I've never seen the colour scan of SDC before... I actually really love the way it looks. It definitely aged pretty well.
@@zebo8000 Okay, I respect your opinion and all, but why bring race into this? The fact that Avdol was black has nothing to do with the story. Not trying to be racist, but Mr Baguette didn't kill Avdol on purpose, those two times. Look at things with context.
@@someescapedalien5699 no he didnt kill Avdol but he let him die. And me mentioning Avdols race is just me saying there arent enough good black characters in Anime. The ones that are good arent very mainstream

Being saved and let someone else die isn't the same
Solid video, as always.
If I have to be honest, Polnareff has always been a bit of a frustrating character to me. I feel like his character arc was tied up a little too soon, and I also dislike how after The Hanged Man arc was finished, he was largely there for comic relief. Like so many people say, it also feels like he was a major character focus later in the story, which isn't inherently bad, except it left others (namely Jotaro) with less screentime and development.
On the topic of future videos, and since you brought him up during this one, I'd love to see a character analysis on Kakyoin and his Hierophant Green. He's my favorite character, hands down, in the entire JoJo series, and it makes me so salty that Araki fridged him at the beginning of the Egypt arc, only to bring him back for a moment of glory so he could eat shit and die.
Also, can you imagine how great the Sethan arc would have been if everyone (including Kakyoin) had been de-aged? Holy shit, Araki missed out on some comedy gold right there.
could have seen Young Joseph again
Takuya Otonashi
We could have! It would have been like in the games, when Young Joseph is able to meet Jotaro, and they'd have to learn to work together to defeat the enemy (not that Alessi is competent).
Can I also say that I headcanon Child Avdol as being a pyromaniac? It just seems so funny to me, to try to imagine them dealing with a little Avdol running around, setting shit on fire with his Magician's Red because he thinks fire is cool.
Tbh I wanna see father-like Joseph taking care of his lil bois
Its cus of Devo's curse. all the pain Polnareff threw on him was thrown back. Notice how things happen to him in a bathroom stall or the wounds he gets over the trip and up to part 5 right down to living a life with no death

"Hello Polnareff shaped child."
I like to think that pol was talking French only because his mind was reverted to when he was a child, probably even before he learned English (or something idk, whatever language they share), so Joot was just like "👁👁 I pretend I do not hear this wack ass child"

Everyone wants revenge of some sort in JoJo!
Part 1: Jonathan wanted to get revenge on Dio for his father's murder and to a lesser extent at the start, the shame of Erina.
Part 2: Caesar wanted revenge against the Pillar Men for his grandfather who died fighting the masks they created and his father who was devoured by the Pillar Men to save him. This gets him killed by Wham.
Part 3: Polnareff against J.Geil for the rape and murder of his sister, getting Avdol nearly killed.
Part 4: Okuyasu wants revenge against Red Hot Chilli Pepper for killing Keicho, and was willing to spare him, but fucked up and nearly died by electrocution.
Part 5: Buccellati wants to overthrow Diavolo for selling drugs to kids.
Part 6: Hermes wants revenge against Sports Maxx for the death of her sister, Gloria. She's successful, but we, the reader's dreams are now haunted by the idea of invisible zombie alligators! Plus Weather Report wants revenge against Pucci for the death of his sister/lover Perla.
Part 7: Johnny wanted to kill Valentine out of revenge for Gyro. Valentine was close to convincing Johnny to let go of his hate, but he screwed up at the end and tried to kill Johnny, getting himself killed.
Part 8: Josuke 2.0 killed Tamaki out of revenge for Yoshikage Kira 2.0's death.
Everyone has their revenge demons in JoJo, huh?
Poor Danny...

DAAAAAAAANNY!
Eh tbh the part 4 one feels like stretching it a bit and for part 5 Bruno barely cared about it, it was Giorno whi really wanted to stop Passione from selling drugs
Part 5 isn’t revenge, more like a question of morality.
Man, Araki really does design his characters well. They may be a "woah this is an amazing character!" in the anime, but hearing in depth analysis like these make me say "woah, there's so much more to them". Who knew Polnareff's journey was much more than just "I want revenge" and simple development.
nothing about polnariff getting revenge on Diavolo?
It would be a spoiler for many ppl .
He was a turtle
Kakyoin wad my dude, what tore my heart was them playing virtuous pope for 15 seconds then he gets 1 shotted. I understand its to demonstrate the overwhelming power of the world but dont do him luke that. Besides, Avdol had it the worst......
I'm almost at the Polnareff arc in Vento Aureo :"o

Well, he ended in the turtle and creeped out Trish
Bob Johnston Yes, it sucks the first time you're spoiled for something. I never spoil myself on purpose but it's very hard to avoid having people just ruin a part of the show for you for no reason
lee Snow dont look at jojo memes until youre at least at the end of part 7
I really liked that all this revenge stuff wasn't dragged till the end of the part
I felt like Stardust Crusaders dragged on a bit long, but it was fantastic watching the characters grow and develop. I fell in love with Polnareff’s character in the last handful of episodes from seeing just how different he was from the start, and how much he’d grown after just about every bad thing that happened in that part, happened to him.
Polnareff best JoJo.
I feel like this part should've included his fight with Cameo, where Pol deals with the consequences of his actions, and realizes how blind he was, ending with him being the one to kill his own dream. Honestly, despite all the filler fights in part 3, one I think absolutely can't be canon is Pol's 1v1 against the doll. He doesn't do 1v1s. Rather, he needs to earn that independence, and his arc was perfect to do so.
Edit: I consider him stabbing his sister Pol's best moment. He accepts that he must live with his regrets.
I loved Polnareff because he did what i would do. If someone did something as despicable as what J Geil did to one of my siblings i would probably want to make them suffer worse pain than anything, the love he had for his sister really shows how good of a brother and man he was
Polnareff is the main character because he's the only one with character development
Now that’s just not true

Jotaro would be great. I mean, Jotaro gets a good deal of flak from the community, for getting out of most bad situations through sheer luck, but when it comes to his stand, _Star_ Platinum, that makes sense. DIO would also be cool, but that seems like a later on type thing.
Keep Up the good work!

Avdol should have lived or stayed dead the first time.
Definitely shouldn't have died the first time as even though it was emotional and would have been great story telling. 1st off Hell 2 U/tsk tsk tsk/YES I AM!!!. Secondly I loved how he had a personality change due to him feeling like an outsider and despite still being a mentor, tried to fit in and be more like the others. I thought his death was well done with the shock factor but whether it suited Avdol is to be debated. Loved the ascending to heaven scene but we should have had more fights with him. I'm pretty torn tbh

Vengeance alone can make up the plot of an amazing story, hell ngl I would love a polnareff ova where we see the part of polnareff's story we didn't see, example- before he met the crusaders, scenes that take place in between current stardust crusaders episodes (for funny moments and for more variety) and who knows, maybe it would end with polnareff's encounter with Diavolo, showing basically an extended version of the flashback polnareff has in golden wind

I may act on my revenge, it really depends on what I'm getting revenge *for.*
Did anyone ask?
If I could take revenge (I hope I’m not taking this too literal as usual) I stubbornly would… would I regret it? In the long run yes… but at the same time, the regret and guilt that’s been levering me to do so would try convincing me would tell me it was for the best… in the first place I wanted the revenge, I wanted to actually take back the pride of what I had started… but it’s merely pride fueling my vengeance… so what better would I be than the person I took revenge upon? I know it’s a basic answer “ReVeNgE bAd” but then again… its something people have to live with… regret… vengeful urges… even forgiveness can and will fuel the feeling of rage… some people tend to see rage as a constant and consistently bad emotion… but there’s always a difference between anger and passion… so what really matters to me is whether my vengeance is fueled by rage or compassion… but yeah I’d take revenge if I had the chance… or not… who knows at the end of the day?
(Sorry about the unnecessary essay response, just felt it was something I wanted to get off my chest…)
It’s kinda ironic when going into the tarot card since with Silver Chariot Requiem, despite Polnareff losing all sense of direction and control with it, it had become the most powerful version of itself.
